74 Chapter 74: Her Mother's Memories V

The rest of Elaine's rest hours were supposed to go smoothly for her as she was to awaken at dawn to head back to work.

However, the hour before dawn, Elaine was awoken rather harshly by the banging of some one's fist on their door. The door rattled at its hinges and Elaine rushed out to find her father already there as well.

He was frowning at the door as thought the door had been the one who had interrupted their peace.

"It is fine, Papi. Go back to bed," she smiled at him. The older man took a couple if steps back but then stood rooted to the floor and watched the door.

"Open up, Steinfold!," immediately Elaine heard this, she froze in surprise. Only one person called her by her last name, the others usually refered to her as 'mutt' or 'stray'. And that one person was Jeffery Heintingold, the husband of her boss and subsequently, her own boss as well.
