5 The truth about her mother

Linda and Jacob stared at their daughter with wide eyes.

"Isabella!? What are you saying right now?" Her father shouted. She turned to him with a smile.

"If we clean up Reign and give her one of my dresses, no one is going to suspect a thing. As long as they think she's your daughter"

"But Isabella, he's still a prince" Isabella turned to her mother with a glare.

"A tyrant mother. What if one day you hear I'm dead?" Her mother sighed at how dramatic she was.

"That can't happen"

"Of course it can. I heard he tried to kill the eldest son of the king for the throne but he was caught just in time and was slashed on his face. Another reason why he always wears a mask. Do you guys really want me to marry such a man?" Jacob sighed.

"But it's the king's orders"

"And that's why I said Reign would go in my place, problem solved" Linda turned to Jacob.

"I'll agree if you do," Jacob sighed as he massaged his temples.

"I'll think about it" Then he walked away.

Anna Immediately grabbed Reign's hand and started pulling her towards the backdoor.

"Where are we going Anna?" Reign questioned.

"You need to run away, there's no way you're marrying that Tyrant"

"Stop" They both freezed when they heard Hilda behind them. They turned slowly and saw her standing then with her arms folded.

"But ma'am, you heard…."

"Leave us, Anna. I need to talk to Reign alone" Reign nodded at Anna with a smile which made Anna sigh. She glanced briefly at Hilda before walking away.

"What is it you wanted to tell me?" Hilda sighed.

"You have to accept the marriage proposal, Reign" Reign furrowed her eyebrows.

"And why is that? Ma'am Hilda, we have a heard about the second son of the king and I'm not sure if I want him as my husband"

"What you want doesn't matter at the moment, it's what you have to do" Reign just got more confused.

"Can you tell me why?" Hilda turned away from her with a sigh.

"I've been keeping this secret inside me for years now and I think it's finally time for you to know '' Reign walked closer to her.

What do I need to know, ma'am?" Hilda turned to her.

Your mother didn't die from natural causes, she was murdered" Reign gasped with wide eyes.

"Oh my… murdered? by who?" Hilda sighed.

"I'm going to tell you from the beginning. Your mother and Linda were very close sisters and would do anything together but then your mother married a rich nobleman who's your father and she moved away from ma'am Linda. Later on, your father died and your mother felt like this house was too big for only her so she invited ma'am Linda to stay with her and at that time, she was pregnant with you and Linda was pregnant with Isabella. Linda did in fact like your mother but after she saw how rich your mother was, she became envious and wanted everything your mother had. Your father left everything in your mother's name then placed Linda as her next of kin since she didn't know she was pregnant yet but immediately she knew, she decided she was going to change it and put everything in your name which made Ma'am Linda angry. Soon after your mother gave birth to you, she left You in Linda's care as she went to change the will with her testator but Linda made sure she never got to her testator's house. I remember hearing her ordering the thugs to kill her mother and leave no trace behind and as soon as your mother was gone, Linda brought in her husband and they all claimed the wealth that was rightfully yours" Reign fell to the ground and she bursted out crying.

"How?! How could they do that to my mother? And to think they treated me like trash all these years. I can't believe this" Hilda squatted in front of her and grabbed her shoulder.

"Listen to me, you have to be strong. I know I've not been nice to you for as long as you know me but that was because Ma'am Linda knew I knew her secret and if she saw me being nice to you, she would think I told you what had happened and maybe I'd get killed too" She wiped away Reign's tears from her face.

"You all know how badly I have suffered all these years, all the pain I've endured" Hilda nodded.

"And that's why I'm telling you now. You have to fight for your right and the only way you can do that is marrying the king's son" Reign wiped away her tears as she stared at Hilda with confusion laced in her eyes.

"How?"

"There's only so little a princess can do, Reign. You can still make them pay but not suffer. If you want to make them suffer, you have to become Queen" Reign gasped.

"A Queen? I thought there has never been a queen in our Kingdom before because the men didn't want the women to be on the same level as them?" Hilda nodded.

"Yes but don't you remember the story of the woman who became the first emperor of this kingdom? The highest position a woman can be given in this country was a princess but then the king loved his former wife so much because of how outstanding she was that he had to give her a higher position. Till date, she's the only female emperor of our Kingdom. You can also write history when you become Queen" Reign furrowed her eyebrows.

"But the second prince isn't going to become king, is he?" Hilda shook his head.

"That's because of his Tyrant ways but you can change him and make him king. Treat him with love, Reign and make him fall head over heels in love with you so that when he becomes king, he'll make you his queen and you'll be unstoppable. Then you'll make Ma'am Linda and Sir Jacob pay for everything they have done to you. Become Queen and let no one ever walk over you again" Reign nodded with determination.

"Thank you ma'am Hilda. Now that I know the truth, I have to seek revenge for my mother and make them pay for the long torturous nineteen years of my life" Hilda smiled.

"You are just like your mother, whatever you put your mind into, you must achieve it no matter what" Reign smiled. The mistake her mother made was to trust her sister, Reign was never going to make that mistake. She was never going to trust anyone and would make sure she achieved her goals….
