1 Chapter 1

Skylar's POV -

I am sleeping peacefully when I am suddenly hit with a pillow at the side of my face. I kick the culprit in the ribs and hear a whine from my brother, Jeremy.

"Skylar!" he screeches as he rubs his ribs. "What the f*ck! You b*tch!"

I laugh at his misfortune before feeling a little guilty afterwards. "Sorry Jer," I apologize but he flips me off and walks off. I just laugh at my twin brother's pettiness.

Anyhow, my name is Skylar Kingsley. My father, John Kingsley, is the Alpha and I am currently in training to be the Alpha—which is obviously a big deal, yet it's rather simplified by random homophobic AND sexist sons of b*tches who obviously don't take me seriously, and the fact that even some important people treat me like a child because I'm apparently still in training and that I'm apparently a girl annoys me so much.

Sighing, I get up to take a shower and get ready for yet another, well, I don't really know day? How good or bad my day ends depends on whether the bitches who like a dick as their alpha pay me a 'visit'. Honestly, they're everywhere that I almost think they're stalking me.

After wearing something relatively simple, I finally make my way downstairs. Jeremy is on his phone with his breakfast barely touched, I walk up to him and ruffle his hair.

"Eat," I tell him.

"Skylar, you are being such a b*tch today, stooop," he whines. I laugh and he just pouts.

"I'm concerned for your well-being and you call me a b*tch," I joke and he finally starts to eat after looking at his phone one last time.

Jeremy is like a pup. He doesn't care that I'm older than him by just 3 minutes and that I get the Alpha position. In fact, he always says how lucky he is. Well, I was being a b*tch the day we were born and went ahead of him because his lazy ass does not want to be Alpha. He still has to train though, but his training is definitely not as intense as mine.

Jeremy finishes his breakfast and looks at his phone.

"She's fine." He glances at me and sighs. We get into my car and drive to school.

When we get to school, we are immediately surrounded by my group of friends that includes my brother and his friends too. Jeremy is on the football team which, at first, was surprising for me cause he's just a big softie.

"Hey Skylar." Drake, who is one of the players on Jeremy's team, hugs me.

"Hey." I give him a small smile and look at the rest of my friends. Jackson and Josh are Jeremy's best friends, they are also on the football team. Jackson is more goofy and laid-back like my brother while Josh is also laid-back but he's more normal sometimes.

Then after those are my best friends, Kim and Jess. Kim is quite nerdy and more responsible than all of us and Jess is basically the opposite. She's like my other half when it comes to partying. She's also very opinionated.

We decide to go inside after a few minutes of talking and when we do, the boys leave while Jess, Kim, and I start to walk to our first class.

"There's a new girl," Jess suddenly mentions before snorting. "Everyone says she's pretty."

"Don't talk like you want to kill her," I reply, laughing.

"Bu-"

"Jess, you haven't even met her yet. Do you really think she might pose a problem?" I ask.

"We haven't really had much luck with new girls. Take Norma, for example, she's a b*tch and she hates us, and then there's Carly, but at least she doesn't over step," Jess grumbles with a slight frown.

"We just come on a little strong, especially you Jess, you gotta stop threatening them. You and your trust issues." I shake my head then chuckle when I see Kim sighing in exasperation. Jess has had multiple heartbreaks during the years but I think there's one that hurt her the most

"Fine," Jess grumbles. "But if she as much as talks bad, I'm going to smack her right in the face."

"Sure," I say as we walk into English. We sit in our normal seats at the back. I'm next to the window, then there's Jess, and then Kim with an extra empty seat at the end.

As soon as I place my bag down, the teacher finally comes in. She begins her lesson which I find boring and uncomplicated every time so I, as usual, stare out the window and watch a few late-comers rushing to their own classes. What? They're entertaining. After a few minutes however, I shift my gaze up at the blue sky.

I must have zoned out while looking past the window because the next thing I know, I'm hit with an intoxicating fragrance of roses and vanilla...? And a hint of wood. Curious, I turn away from the window and glance at the source of the smell. I subconsciously pause when I am met with a pair of blueish/greenish eyes framed by her dark locks. The owner is tall, or taller than me at maybe 5'10 when I'm only 5'8. She's rather fit, athletic, as shown by her mouthwatering abs through her outfit. Damn, she's a head turner.

She suddenly looks at my direction but I quickly turn away and look at my friends instead. I notice that Jess is also gawking at the new girl and I almost burst out laughing.

"Hey, Jess, you're drooling a bit and here I thought you were straight," I remark, slightly smirking.

"You know as well as anyone that I can admire a gorgeous girl when I see one, plus you were too, a minute ago," Jess counters and we laugh. Kim nods and laughs along too.

"Ms. Wilde, go ahead and sit with Ms. Kingsley and her friends." She points to us. My head shots up and I look at Mrs. Johnson. She smiles at me and then bows her head slightly. I guess I have no choice, I mean there is an empty seat in my row. Instead of looking at the new girl, I turn to Jess and Kim and tell them to scoot so she can sit between me and Jess. Jess whines a bit but does it anyway. She quiets down as the new girl sits in between us but just when I thought that everything is fine, I notice how she stares at the new girl. Knowing her, I presume that she is about to do something stupid like growl so I kick her in the shin, prompting her to force a smile instead.

Shaking my head, I turn my gaze at the new girl and once we made eye contact, I suddenly felt a rush of butterflies swarming in my stomach.

"Mate!" my wolf, Merrian, purrs at the back of my mind. Shit. No. Why now?

I take a deep breath ignoring the amazing and yet horrible feeling at the pit of my stomach and force myself to look at Jess, who was still pouting a bit.

She's probably still not over the kick I gave her.

"Stop pouting, Jess, it's not cute," I joke, trying to create some distraction.

"Hey!" She pokes my sides and I laugh. We hear a low muffled growl which makes us turn to the new girl. Jess, though, ignores it and instead flashes the girl another smile.

"I'm Jess," she introduces herself.

She smiles at Jess which also makes me feel different emotions. Kim introduces herself as well which leaves only me, but I stay quiet until Jess pokes my sides again, making me yelp.

"Damnmit Jess, stop doing that!"

Jess just laughs.

"I'm Skylar," I tell her.

She smiles at me and I smile back. Since the new girl's attention is now on me, Kim turns away and starts paying attention to class, making small comments every now and then with Jess saying something stupid too...

"So what's your name?" I ask her.

"I'm Olivia, Olivia Wilde," she replies and I nod. It felt awkward after that but Jess snaps me out of it by starting a conversation with a cute boy sitting in front of us. His friends are also trying to talk to me but I just ignore them because they're not the best choice for my distraction.

"Oi! Mate." I recognise the voice so I look up.

"Ian!" I go and hug him in the middle of class but the teacher just ignores us for 2 very important reasons: we're part of the student council and I'm Skylar Kingsley. We head towards my seat and he sits on the floor next me.

"What's up Ian?" I ask, sitting back on my chair.

"Gabs is looking for you," he answers and I groan.

"Look I know yal-"

"It's not about that. Her dad has been calling her every 5 minutes to ask if I've given her the Tech Money yet. I love the girl but her dad is a pain in my ass." I can feel Olivia's eyes on me but I just focus on Ian.

"Oh yeah your dad's year donation."

"More like investment but yeah."

"Alright sweets I gotta go, she's on my ass making me find you." I laugh.

"Good luck with that. She'll find me soon anyways. She's Gabby, after all."

He nods and leaves.

"Sweets? Gabs?"

"He's my cuz calm down, and Gabby is a long time friend of mine. It's a bit complicated," I explain.

She suddenly scoots closer and whispers in my ear, "Love, I don't share." She smirks, leaving me stunned.

Fortunately,  the bell rings and she watches as I basically drag Jess and Kim out the door.

"What the hell?" Jess exclaims as she raises her eyebrows. Kim was also looking at me curiously.

"I found my mate."
