The world sang little. Dull and gray, oozing something that should have danced only in the tunes of the past lives—old, begotten, and afraid. Memories shuddered here in the rain of the new world, its cloak left and crumbled to the ashes of time passed.

I hadn’t seen the world in its infinity the last time I had peered through these eyes, mortal and afraid.

The space within the world I occupied was barren and unfeeling, a vast wasteland of forgotten pain filtered the somber air, deep and dark within the recesses of myself I heard the ringing of bells, loud and sharp as it cut through the still, polluted space I now took over. My body now, senses and feeling dulled to all the enhanced emotions of the world—I could no longer feel any of it.
