The True Dracula

One day, I closed my eyes and drifted off to a peaceful sleep at the end of the day. When I opened my eyes, I found myself in an alternate world, in the year 1412! Yet the most shocking, I was Vlad Dracul of Transylvania, right after he had become a vampire.

Chapter 3

About 24 kilometers away from my keep, was a village. Well, it was more of a town. There, the tales of one lord of the dark, is prevalent. Although, mostly treated as tales of the crazy lady, it was still, very much told to frighten little children into obedience. Perhaps, it was more along the reasons of me not going out for hunts as frequently as my predecessor that it had been reduced to a legend, and not at all believed in. And that, I wanted to rectify.

The moon, in its crescent glory, was shining in the sky littered with stars, when I was seated on the fountain in the shape of a naked lady at the centre of the town. A deafening silence was all around, when I finally decided to start my hunt. I quietly entered one of the single storeyed houses, unwilling to let even a single person escape, as it would mean that the church would be sending a stronger army behind me. I also was unaware of the extent of the supernatural things in this world. My existence very well meant, that other beings could also exist. That reminded me, I should be practicing mana breathing as soon as possible.

A family of three, a child of about 9, a middle aged man with a rough face, and a woman of average looks were asleep on a cot. I could not help but lick my lips, as I felt my fangs grow sharper. Ah, the sweet vitality of a child, was of course addicting, however I was confident in my mental facilities to be able to resist the temptations. And thus with quick attack on their throats with my nails, I bereft them of the ability to speak. As their eyes gazed at me with fear and confusion, my mind could only laugh at glee. After all, I could see it in their eyes; they were nothing more than mere cattle, and they knew it.

Once I completed feasting, I went over to the next house. A lone man slept there. But, he was a warrior. I could tell that much from his toned muscles and alert posture. Yet I hardly cared. As soon as he sensed me, his eyes shot open, and he threw himself from the bed.

"Who are you? Do you not know, that it is possible to kill someone for intruding in others homes?"

I could only look at him in amusement.

"Oh? And what will you do? Kill me? With your strength?"

I could see rage slowly filling his eyes as he took up the sheathed sword from the bed.

"You were unlucky stranger. You see, I am a member of the Lion Mercenary Group, and am thus well trained. It seems like your journey ends here, like the lowlife you are."

That was when my thoughts stopped revolving around amusement. A lowlife, me? The one who's name once made grown, armed men pee their pants, and one whose inventions were capable of extinguishing life on a world if he wanted it to do so? By some mental exercise, he started to utilise a technique from his previous world, aura. It was the coagulation of a person's existence and their urge to do something. As he blasted it onto the man, the man's eyes opened wide, as he kneeled and coughed up a mouthful of blood.

"W-who are you?"

I looked at him in contempt, and could feel my crimson red eyes glowing in the darkness. My voice was barely a whisper, yet it was clearly heard.

"Me? I am Adoneous Dracula, the Overlord of Life…and I deem you unworthy of life."
