3 Portal Planets

The soldier to Lilth's right stepped forward, putting his hands behind his back as he looked at the class. The relaxed look in his eyes suddenly changed and became very stern. "My name is Sergeant Greystone. As Miss Lilth has explained, you all will be going out on your first excursion to learn how to fight and level up. You will be under the protection of my men, so you do not need to worry about losing your lives! BUT! This does not mean you will not get hurt. Just because you will be fighting low level monsters does not mean you will not lose an arm, a leg, or even end up close to being dead. As I have heard walking in here today, three of you have been beaten by a failure. If you tried to fight a monster, you would already be dead!"

'Oi! I'm sitting right here, asshole.' Fate glared at Sergeant Greystone as she shouted out in her head, but he just ignored her and continued.

"Portal worlds are not all safe. Although we have colonized thousands of worlds, this does not mean you can run through a portal and end up in a safe zone. Some planets are so dangerous that we can not even build a city on them. It is hard enough protecting a small outpost! There are also some planets where our people were wiped out completely. Portal planets are ranked by skulls. Starting from 0 skulls going up to 10.

"You must be wondering why they are ranked using skulls instead of numbers. The answer is very simple. We use skulls to remind us that the world we are going to or are already on is dangerous. It is this reminder that can save lives.

"Grolam, the world we will be going to is marked as a 2 skull world. The only reason why it is not marked as 1 skull at this time is due to it not being fully explored. There is a large settlement on this world, and the area around it is full of fast reproducing monsters called Slithers. A kind of snake species with six legs. They are twice the size of the young man in the front here." The young man he had pointed to was at least one hundred and ninety five centimeters tall and looked to be built like a truck.

"These monsters are all level 1 to 3. They are perfect for practicing team fighting. But just because they are low level does not mean that they are not dangerous! Everyone is to go on this excursion! And I mean everyone!" Sergeant Greyson's eyes fell on Fate.

Although his gaze was piercing and full of contempt, Fate was not fazed by it in the slightest. She was already aware that she would be forced to go to these portal worlds. To be honest, she was happy about this because sometimes you would stay a few days. This meant time away from her mother. Sadly, if she tried to escape from her class and hide on one of these worlds, she would be quickly found and dragged back. Otherwise, Fate would use this chance to escape from the clutches of her mother early on. Knowing this really irked Fate. She wished she could escape from all this now. But she knew it was impossible and all she could do was try to be strong.

"For the rest of your class today, we will be going out to the training field to learn the basics! So get your asses up out of those chairs and get going." Sergeant Greystone looked at the three girls Fate had beaten and shook his head in disappointment. "Private go heal the pieces of shit up there who can't even defeat a failure."

Fate let out a sigh. 'I'm hurt too, you know, asshole!' Fate knew that even if she asked, the bastard would not let his private heal her anyway. Even the school healers would not heal her unless she was at death's door or heal her only slightly and then let her die. She wouldn't be surprised if she were to be seriously injured that they would only give her a quick heal and then say there was nothing they could do and allow her to bleed out. Such was the cruelty of this world for a normal human.

Knowing this, she got up from her seat and went to walk out of the room. But surprisingly, she suddenly felt something warm flow through her body. Her fat lip and black eye began to recede enough so that they would not bother her. Although not completely gone, it was still enough to keep it from affecting her performance.

Fate turned to look at the private who had walked past her. He never even looked back at her, but she knew he was the one who did it. 'I guess there are some trinities with some pity. Not that I would go out of my way to thank him or anything.'

Whether he was being nice or not, it did not matter. To Fate, right now, all trinities were her enemy. As a normal human, she was basically nothing but a punching bag. Even if one was nice to her, they would not come to her rescue, or they would anger the trinities around them, which was why the private did not fully heal her injuries.

The class was led to the training field that was around seven football fields in size. Many students were out on its dirt top, practicing their abilities and sparring with other students. Abilities of all kinds were flying around. Fate could see fire, water, earth, wind, and even lightning being used. Luckily the training field was broken up into segments. Each segment had its own barrier that surrounded it, keeping any abilities from straying over to other segments.

Sergeant Greystone stood in front of a small panel and swiped his card, activating the barrier for the segment that were going to be using. "Alright, you little shits, get inside. Blondie, you're up first. I want to see just how good your skills are!"

Fate sneered: 'You just want to see me get my ass handed to me, don't you?' Fate cursed the Sergeant left and right in her mind, but there was nothing she could do but grit her teeth! 'Fine! You want to see me fight, fine! I will fucking floor each of these trinity assholes and see how smug you will look after!'

"Let's go, failure, we don't got all day. Let's see the legend in the making, the only failure to ever enter Trinity Academy." Fate was really getting sick of this Sergeant calling her a failure left and right.

It was not like she liked the fact that she had no system. Was it her fault her body didn't allow her to gain the thing she wanted the most in her life? Did he think she wanted to be stuck powerless like this!? Fate glared at the sergeant as her lips curled up into a smile. "I hope you brought enough healers."

"Oh, ho! We got a princess smartass here! Let's see what you got failure! You big guy, get out here and show me that huge body of yours is not just for show!" Sergeant Greystone called up the student that was built like a truck to be Fate's first opponent. It seemed her words hit a nerve. He actually wanted to put Fate in her place and send her to the Academy's hospital.

Fate looked at the tall, muscle bound young man and cracked her neck from side to side as she bounced up and down a few times to loosen her muscles. Seeing that they were both ready, the Sergeant yelled out: "Begin!"

Fate did not waste any time as she dashed right to the young man. Her move startled him, and he quickly tried to conjure up his ability to strike out at her. But sadly, he was clumsy, and the dirt he was trying to form into a rock ball was very slow to form. His ability was interrupted when Fate arrived in front of him and slapped his left hand up to interrupt the ability causing it to explode right into his face. She then spun her body around and ruthlessly kicked the young man between the legs sending him to his knees in pain. His hand, face, and crotch were all now equally painful. But Fate was not done, her body was still spinning, and she stretched out her leg, kicking the young man in the side of the head sending him to the ground. Her body spun to a stop, and she stood staring at the sergeant smiling at him.

"Better heal him soon, or his family may lose an heir." Her smartass remark made the Sergeant's face turn red with anger. He was angered by her words and by the fact that he had misjudged this frail looking girl. She knew what she was doing!

Fate had plenty of time to understand combat basics when it came to ability users. One of the books she read said an ability user had a higher chance to win if they could get their ability off first. Which meant as long as she got to them first and interrupted their ability, there was no way she could lose.

"Fine! Let's see how you deal with two!"
