10 Chapter 9: First Day Living with the War Deity

For Ruo Yin's relief or annoyance, Zhan Luo came back for her and gave her a small tour of his manor before leading her to his bedroom.

He also did as promised, and slept on the floor, while she slept comfortably in his bed. The next morning, Zhan Luo woke Ruo Yin.

"Hey, wake up, the deities will arrive at any moment."

"Ughh..." Ruo Yin managed to say. As she sat in the bed and rubbed her eyes, she realized that Zhan Luo was already dressed and ready.

"How come he looks so perfect even this early in the morning?" Ruo Yin thought.

"Did you even slept last night?" Ruo Yin raised an eyebrow.

"Couldn't. Your snoring could be heard from thousands of miles far away. Hey, maybe you didn't even let the Sky Clan sleep and they won't come here!" Zhan Luo replied to her, his face serious.

"I don't snore, imbecile!" Ruo Yin threw the blanket towards him.

"Hey, no need of being so aggressive this early in the morning. I was just kidding. I woke up just a bit earlier than you." Zhan Luo raised his hands as a sign of surrender.

"Seriously, you are so annoying," Ruo Yin said as she tried to comb her hair and put her hairpins back.

Zhan Luo saw her struggle, "Here, let me help you, or you will never finish."

"Do you even know how to comb a girl's hair?"

Zhan Luo then grabbed the comb and hairpins and, in an instant, finished preparing Ruo Yin's hair.

"Why is he so perfect?" Ruo Yin did not move as she did not want Zhan Luo to notice her embarrassment. She was starting to think that instead of falling in love as the Sky Empress had hoped, she will die from embarrassment first.

"Your clothes and the bowl of water to wash your face are behind the changing curtain. I would go out first to greet the deities. You can come to join me after you have washed and prepared yourself."

"Okay, thanks," Ruo Yin said quickly going behind the changing curtain.

"What the hell with his mood swings. He first teases me non-stop and, in an instant, he turns all cold again." Ruo Yin thought while changing.

--------------------

Zhan Luo went to the entrance of the mountain, where the deities were waiting.

"Greetings Sky Emperor. Demon Lord. Esteemed deities," Zhan Luo bowed in respect.

"Greetings High God Zhan Luo. I hope you, newlyweds, enjoyed your evening yesterday," the Demon Lord said to him as the other deities bowed to return the greetings.

"There is no need to worry, Demon Lord. Ruo Yin is in excellent hands," the Sky Emperor told You Xie.

"Haha... That is right," You Xie replied.

"Now, why don't we continue speaking in a more comfortable place?" Zhan Luo asked signaling them to enter.

As they were about to walk to one of the pavilions that Zhan Luo built on Kunlun Mountain, Ruo Yin appeared dressed in a silky sky-blue tunic matching her outfit with Zhan Luo's navy color tunic.

Ruo Yin greeted the deities.

"Now, let's put on the show," She thought.

She later grabbed Zhan Luo's arm and told in an audible voice: "Dear husband, why did you let me sleep in?"

Zhan Luo already understood her intentions, and gave her a soft smile and responded, "I thought you were tired, so I let you sleep in."

"Ohh... thanks... But as your wife, I shouldn't let you attend our guests alone. It will be inappropriate."

"There won't be next time," Zhan Luo said as he put his hand on Ruo Yin's back and he guided her and their guest to one of the pavilions that were already prepared for them to pass the morning.

Since Zhan Luo hated socializing, he did not have any servants helping him in Kunlun Mountain. From time to time, the Sky Emperor would send some maids to help him clean the living quarters and that's it. So, today's preparations were all made by the War Deity himself. It was not hard though, since he just used his powers for everything.

As the old deities chatted for hours about how pretty Kunlun Mountain looked, Ruo Yin took advantage of this and went for a walk.

"Seriously, how can they pass so many hours sitting and speaking the same old boring topic?" Ruo Yin said to herself when she was already alone.

"Where do you think you are going?" Zhan Luo asked her.

Ruo Yin jumped a little from being startled.

"Don't you make sounds when you walk?" She asked him.

"I didn't know my wife was such a scaredy-cat," Zhan Luo smirked.

"Anyone normal would be scared if they thought they were alone and someone comes sneaking behind them! But I don't think you will understand since you are such a weirdo," Ruo Yin said to him.

"Hmm...you know, for all the thousand years that I have been alive I have been described by many names. Genius, handsome, cold... oh... once I was even described as a recluse. Yet..." Zhan Luo closed his distance from Ruo Yin and got his face close to hers, "No one has called me a weirdo, you are the first."

Ruo Yin did not know if she was the one trying to make the War Deity fall for her or vice versa.

First of all, she did not even know what her plan was. She did not have one. She wanted to know why she could not recall those memories, yet she also did not want to because if what You Xie said was true, then Zhan Luo was going to be her enemy. That is when she realized she did not mind the company of the War Deity. She did not have friends in the Demon Clan apart from the retired generals, so it was pretty nice the snarky remarks they threw at each other from time to time. And as the Sky Empress said, "maybe love can flourish over time..."

"Maybe... just maybe..." Ruo Yin thought, and then reality hit her.

"Sorry, I shouldn't have teased you like that," Zhan Luo said as he made some distance between them. "I forgot for a moment, what our deal from this arranged marriage was. It was inconsiderate for me to ask you where you were going. There is a very nice waterfall at the top of the mountain, in case you wanted to check it out. You just need to continue following this path and you will arrive. I'm going back to the pavilion first," Zhan Luo said and later went the same way where he came, but this time, leaving with a piece of Ruo Yin's heart.
