30 Chapter 29: Till Death Do Us Part

New characters in this chapter:

General Xia: Xia Mei's father. Respected by the Sky Emperor since he has the best troops in the Sky Clan. He oversees his daughter's whims.

--------------------

Zhan Luo had gone back to the Sky Clan for a day for Xia Mei's trial. Since Xia Mei's father talked in her favor, the Sky Emperor went easy on her sentence and said that she could not step again at Kunlun Mountain. He also declared that after she was married into the Shape-shifting Clan, she was to never return to the Sky Clan. Xia Mei tried to beg for a lighter sentence, but since it was at stake insulting the War Deity if the sentence was too light. Neither Xia Mei's father nor the Sky Emperor wanted to risk it.

"No! You will regret this Zhan Luo! We were meant to be! Not you and that Demon Princess! Both of you won't have a happy ending!" Xia Mei shouted as guards tried to take her out from the throne hall.

Since Xia Mei threw that little stunt, the Sky Emperor decreed that she would remain in a prison cell till her wedding day as her stunt was considered an act of disrespect toward the Sky Emperor himself.

Zhan Luo came back to Kun Lun Mountain and since Si Ming was bored he tagged along. He was the one who told Ruo Yin all about Xia Mei's trial with a bit of exaggeration in his retelling.

"You should have seen her face! It was as if the Sky Emperor had decreed to strip her powers!" Si Ming said as he took a drink of wine as they all dined together.

Zhan Luo then came back with the food and said, "Don't listen to him, Xiao Yin. He is already drunk and exaggerating the situation. She just spewed some nonsense."

The dinner was cooked by Zhan Luo since neither of them wanted to try again Ruo Yin's infamous cooking.

"Is she going to be fine?" Ruo Yin asked. She did not think that Xia Mei would have such a harsh sentence. She felt a bit sorry for her even if Xia Mei had treated her badly. She was just a goddess who was in love.

"She doesn't deserve your pity, Xiao Yin. Not everyone has a soft heart like you," Zhan Luo said as he kissed his wife on the forehead.

"Please both of you get a room!" Si Ming said with his face already flushed from the wine.

"You should be the one who should leave. It seems as if you don't have a home," Zhan Luo muttered. Ruo Yin laughed a bit.

"Seriously, Ruo Yin, you took away my best friend from me! I'm so sad!" Si Ming said as he faked that he was weeping.

This made the three of them laugh. Si Ming left the next morning and said to Ruo Yin that he wanted to see little Zhan Luos and Ruo Yins soon.

"Seriously! Poor of the mortals whose fates depend on him!" Ruo Yin sighed.

"We should consider though having children, then maybe Si Ming would leave us alone," Zhan Luo said. Ruo Yin just raised an eyebrow at Zhan Luo's statement.

The next days with Zhan Luo were full of bliss. They were finally husband and wife. But happiness was cut short. One morning Zhan Luo woke up Ruo Yin and told her that both were being called to go back to the Sky Clan.

"Did something happen?" Ruo Yin asked still half asleep.

Zhan Luo's face looked serious. Even more serious than the first time they met in the Sky Clan. "You Xie has troops outside the Sky Clan. He is preparing to attack."

"No! How? He is going to lose. He can't win with just fighting skills," Ruo Yin said as she got dressed.

"One of the soldiers reported that some of them didn't have the red tattoo around their necks," Zhan Luo said sternly.

Ruo Yin quickly drew the fake binding collar and grabbed her sword, "Before we go, promise me something," she said as she grabbed the hem of Zhan Luo's sleeve.

"Whatever you ask, my wife," Zhan Luo said.

"Promise me that we will be together no matter what. Remember that I promised my loyalty to you. Don't go throwing me to the sideways. I'm also a good fighter," Ruo Yin said with a sad smile.

Zhan Luo remained silent as he knew that the possibilities that the prediction could become true were high if he let Ruo Yin fight.

"Promise me..." Ruo Yin insisted.

"That, I cannot. I will not let you risk your life," Zhan Luo said.

Ruo Yin then walked till she was in front of the War Deity and looked him in the eyes and asked, "Is it because of that stupid prediction of Si Ming? I won't let anyone dictate my fate. Even if we die today, Zhan Luo, I will find you in the next life!" Ruo Yin huffed.

Zhan Luo knew he would not be able to change Ruo Yin's mind, so he conceded with her and said, "Not if I find you first, dear wife. Even if you forget me again, I will make you remember."

This made Ruo Yin smile. They both were prepared to die today. They did not know what was expecting them, but they were sure that they were going to stop the Demon Lord no matter at what cost.
