25 Chapter 24: Turmoil Arises

Lu Ren Wei: General of the Demon Clan. He thinks he is better than anyone else. Would like to become the Demon Lord, but knows that he would lose a fight with him, therefore he serves him.

"Call the generals! I want them in the throne hall immediately!" You Xie commanded the soldiers as he returned to the Demon Clan.

"The retired ones or the new ones, your Majesty?" asked one of the soldiers.

"Why would I need the retired ones?" You Xie asked the stupid soldier.

The other soldier that was there quickly dragged his companion and told the Demon Lord that they were going to call the generals right away.

You Xie then went back to his palace. He sat on his throne waiting for the generals to arrive. Bored from waiting, he started thinking about Ruo Yin's behavior today. He suspected that Ruo Yin was no longer on his side. From today's interaction, he could see that there was a connection between the War Deity and Ruo Yin and it was not a fake one, because he had seen the same connection in Fei Yan and her husband.

You Xie's anger grew with each passing second. "Where were those useless generals?" You Xie was thinking. The more time he was left alone, the more he thought about how everyone around him has betrayed him.

When he was still little, his brothers would act friendly with him even if they were not from the same mother, but as soon as gossips said that You Xie was going to be the next Demon Lord, his brothers started plotting on how to make him lose the late Demon Lord's favor. You Xie to defend himself, since his mother died in childbirth, annihilated all his brothers. If you cannot keep your enemies closer, then you just erased them. That way he could be the only candidate to inherit the title.

His second and most painful betrayal then came by Fei Yan. The only member of the Demon Clan he had loved. He could have left all the bloodshed and power-seeking for her. He thought she was different. But in the end, she also betrayed him. After Fei Yan's death, he took many consorts. He even lost count already how many consorts he currently had. After all, their only job was to produce an heir for him. Yet, none of his kids are worthy enough to inherit the throne. He ended up killing all of them.

"Now, you, Xiao Yin, want to also betray me. All for the sake of love," You Xie said in a low voice.

Just as You Xie went deeper inside his thoughts, one of the generals came. He was Lu Ren Wei. He had been one of the first ones You Xie had named as general since he was not only loyal, but You Xie could see that he would do anything to achieve the goal.

"Your Majesty, is there anything urgent to discuss?" Lu Ren Wei asked.

"Where are the others?" You Xie asked ready to kill some of his generals. After all, they were just replaceable pawns.

"They got drunk from last night. Most of them have not even woken up yet," the general said.

"What were you guys celebrating? Is there even a reason to celebrate right now?" You Xie asked furiously.

Lu Ren Wei was not a fool. What he wanted was power. He knew that he could never win the Demon Lord, therefore he decided to work for him, but the other generals? He did not need any other member of the Demon Clan sharing the same position as him. With his charismatic nature, he has slowly made them all useless, by inciting them to just get drunk and celebrate anything.

"They were just happy that the Demon Clan is now at peace with the Sky Clan since Princess Ruo Yin married the War Deity," Lu Ren Wei said as he clearly knew that this would lead to the other general's doom.

"General Lu, since when do you serve me?" You Xie asked.

"Since I have memory."

"What if I were to tell you to kill that bunch of useless generals? Would you hesitate to do it?" You Xie asked him.

"Never. If that your Majesty wishes, I, Lu Ren Wei, will fulfill it," the general said, inside already happy since he achieved his goal.

"Then do it! I don't need those useless drunkards, but first, tell me what you know about the Ten Thousand Spirits Stone," You Xie said with a smirk.

"It's a myth passed down in the Demon Clan. There was war between all the clans. The Sky Clan was the most powerful one that managed to subdue all the other clans, minus ours," the general said.

"Continue..."

"The first Demon Lord was on par with the Sky Emperor of that time, they fought for a thousand years. The Immortal Realm was in total chaos. The Demon Lord then devised a plan and created the Ten Thousand Spirits Stone from all the deceased immortals. This sacred object could be used to potentiate the cultivation of any member of the Demon Clan. But before the Demon Lord could use it, he was turned to ashes by the Sky Emperor, and the location of the Ten Thousand Spirits Stone became a myth," the general said.

"Very well, General Lu, after you finish your mission of cleaning the trash, I want you to search the location of this stone," You Xie said with a smile on his face.

"Your Majesty, don't tell me that..."

"Exactly, I'm going to finish what our founder couldn't do, and you, my faithful general, could have a place in the new realm if you help me. I may even name you my heir," You Xie's eyes were full of hunger. He had a maniacal smile stuck on his face.

Lu Ren Wei knew he should help the Demon Lord. If the Demon Lord died, then he could occupy the throne, and if the Demon Lord won, then he could be the heir one day. It was a complete win-win situation for him.

Lu Ren Wei then also smiled and said, "I will immediately do it."
