24 Chapter 23: For More Trouble Please Invite Also the Demon Lord

Zhan Luo had taken them to an outside court that was designed for training.

"So, what are rules going to be? Apart from no killing your opponent, obviously," Xia Mei smirked.

"Let's wait for Si Ming to arrive and we will establish the rules," Zhan Luo said calmly.

Xia Mei decided to warm up a little. Ruo Yin and Zhan Luo were just hanging around laughing at whatever Ruo Yin was telling him. This made Xia Mei jealous. So she turned around to not watch those two being all lovey-dovey. She still could not understand in what area she was not better than the Demon Princess. She was sure that she would defeat Ruo Yin once and for all in this match so Zhan Luo could realize that she was the one for him.

"There's someone at the entrance again," Zhan Luo said.

"Si Ming would have come barging in, is it someone from the Sky Clan?" Ruo Yin asked.

Zhan Luo shook his head.

"It can't be You Xie..." whispered Ruo Yin.

Zhan Luo just grabbed Ruo Yin's hand and gave her a reassuring smile. It was a silent message telling her that he did not mind that she was the Demon Lord's daughter. "You may not mind, but I do," Ruo Yin thought.

Before they reached the entrance, Ruo Yin told Zhan Luo there was something that she needed to confess.

"My dear wife, I don't think this is the best moment to confess your feeling for me," Zhan Luo said trying to ease the tension Ruo Yin was emanating.

She just hit him lightly in the chest. "I'm serious," she pouted, "You Xie cannot know that the two of us are really together, he had asked me to make you fall for me, so I could be like an inside spy for him," Ruo Yin felt relief that she finally came clean.

"Hahaha... That's the important thing?" Zhan Luo could not believe how oblivious his wife is.

"What? It is not a matter to treat lightly!" She said to him a bit mad that Zhan Luo did not take her seriously.

"You don't remember don't you?" Zhan Luo asked her.

"What should I remember?"

"Since the first time we met again in the Sky Clan I have told you that was the Demon Lord's plan all along, so don't worry," Zhan Luo smiled at her.

Ruo Yin then remembered that she was way too flustered at that time, so she did not hear that part, "So I have been hiding a not-so-secret all this time?" she thought.

Zhan Luo then said, "Let's put up a good act for the Demon Lord then," as he walked away. Ruo Yin could only smile as she followed him.

You Xie was waiting patiently at the entrance of Kunlun Mountain. Since Ruo Yin went back without really talking with him, he wanted to remind her of her mission, "That girl sometimes seems as if she has completely forgotten about the Demon Clan," You Xie thought.

He soon saw that the War Deity and Ruo Yin were coming his way.

"You Xie greets High God Zhan Luo," the Demon Lord said as he bowed, "How are you, Xiao Yin?"

"What brings you all the way here, Demon Lord?" Zhan Luo asked.

"Ruo Yin. She just went back without even saying goodbye to me. I just wanted to come to see how she was doing, if it's not a lot of trouble for you High God Zhan Luo," You Xie said with a diplomatic smile.

"If you like, you may stay for a bit, Ruo Yin was about to have a friendly match with the daughter of one of the generals of the Sky Clan," Zhan Luo offered.

Ruo Yin was nervous, why would Zhan Luo invite the Demon Lord to watch the match. Was he out of his mind or did he want to gain the Demon Lord's trust so he did not suspect?

"If you insist, then I should come and see how Xiao Yin has improved," You Xie said.

The three of them were en route to go back to the outside court when Si Ming arrived just in time to save the weird atmosphere that was going.

"Hey, Zhan Luo, I came the fastest I could..." the immortal said as walked through the entrance as if it was his home.

Si Ming then noticed the Demon Lord and greeted him. You Xie greeted Si Ming back.

"We were just going back to where Xia Mei is to start the match," Ruo Yin said.

Si Ming just nodded, and they silently walked. Zhan Luo and You Xie quickly got engaged in a conversation about how beautiful Kunlun Mountain was and were doing some trivial talking.

Ruo Yin then walked beside Si Ming, leaving Zhan Luo and You Xie in the front.

"Why is he here?" Si Ming whispered to Ruo Yin.

"Long story, just play it out with us please," Ruo Yin told him.

They finally got back to the outside court where Xia Mei was already prepared with her sword. She noticed that You Xie had arrived, but she did not mind his presence. She thought it would be fun seeing how Ruo Yin got herself embarrassed in front of him. 

"So, let's establish the rules," Zhan Luo said.

"How about the three rounds, the winner in each round is the one able of doing a lethal hit to the other? We obviously won't really do the lethal hit though," Xia Mei offered.

"Fine by me, but under two conditions, Zhan Luo should put a barrier spell in our swords, so no accident happens. We wouldn't want any accidental stabbing right? And you may only use your cultivation power to disarm me, but nothing lethal," Ruo Yin said to Xia Mei.

Zhan Luo could help, but be proud to have seen through Xia Mei's plan.

"If no one has any problem with it, then let the match begin," Zhan Luo said as he put a barrier spell in both swords and guided the Demon Lord and Si Ming to their places.

The match had started, Xia Mei was in a defensive pose waiting for Ruo Yin to be the first one to strike.

"Remember to not go head first," Ruo Yin reminded herself. She knew Xia Mei was someone who did not have patience, so if she dragged the waiting long enough, Xia Mei would have an opening where she could strike.

Both immortals continued to circle each other waiting for the other to strike first. Ruo Yin then put a confident face and smirked a little to provoke Xia Mei. This definitely hit the nail. Xia Mei went quickly to strike Ruo Yin.

Ruo Yin quickly blocked Xia Mei's attack with her sword. What she did not expect was Xia Mei using her cultivation and attacking Ruo Yin with it. It hit her in a vital spot, making Ruo Yin throw up a bit of blood.

Zhan Luo and Si Ming quickly rose from their seat wanting to stop the match. Ruo Yin made a signal with her hand to let them know they should not stop the fight.

You Xie looked uninterested.

"Is this all the Demon Princess can do?" Xia Mei provoked.

"Hm... Using your cultivation in the first round?" Ruo Yin asked back.

Xia Mei sneered. Ruo Yin knew she was at a disadvantage, the Demon Clan had their powers sealed, she could only attack Xia Mei with normal attacks and Qi Gong.

Xia Mei then tried the same trick again, this time, Ruo Yin was smart and dodged Xia Mei's attack by using Qi Gong and using Xia Mei's shoulder as a step so she could be behind her. Ruo Yin then turned over and used her sword to "slice" through Xia Mei's throat. One clean move.

Zhan Luo then shouted, "Ruo Yin wins this round."

Ruo Yin then look at You Xie and saw that he looked proud of how Ruo Yin fought. This killed Ruo Yin's joy from winning. She did not want the Demon Lord to feel proud.

Just as the second match was about to start, Ruo Yin felt a stabbing pain in her chest and threw up more blood. This time she needed to use her sword as support so she did not fall to the floor.

Zhan Luo called off the match and went to Ruo Yin's side. Ruo Yin gave him a small smile and told him she was fine.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't think that such a minor hit would make such a big wound," Xia Mei apologized falsely.

Zhan Luo then stared at her and said, "You are dismissed, Xia Mei, and expect this incident to be reported back to the Sky Emperor."

Xia Mei's face went blank. She could not let the Sky Emperor know she hurt the War Deity's wife who was also the Demon Clan's princess. This could lead the Sky Emperor to think that Xia Mei was trying to cause a war between both clans.

"No, please, I know my mistake. Please forgive me!" Xia Mei begged.

Zhan Luo just repeated his words, "You are dismissed, and don't think you will even take another step into Kunlun Mountain in the future."

Xia Mei knelt down and cried for mercy. Since she did not want to return to the Sky Clan, Zhan Luo ordered Si Ming to take her back and report the Sky Emperor of the incident.

"Tell him I will go later to tell him about the details," Zhan Luo said.

Si Ming then grabbed Xia Mei by her shoulders and used the teleportation spell to take them back to the Sky Clan.

The only ones left in the outside court were Zhan Luo, Ruo Yin, and the Demon Lord.

You Xie then spoke, "Thank you High God Zhan Luo making justice for Xiao Yin. Now, if you may excuse me, I should retire back to the Demon Clan."

Ruo Yin then knew that this was a perfect time so You Xie will believe that she was still helping him.

"Zhan Luo, if Xia Mei can fight so well, and she is only the daughter of a general in the Sky Clan, then your generals should be like the big shots," Ruo Yin said innocently.

Even hurt, Ruo Yin was still trying to put an act for You Xie. Zhan Luo followed her lead, "Yes, they are much more powerful than Xia Mei. Now, you should rest," he said as he carried Ruo Yin.

You Xie had a satisfied smile on his face and Ruo Yin knew she succeeded in giving fake information to the Demon Lord. He did not know that Xia Mei's purpose coming here was just to stir trouble and that in reality, Ruo Yin did not even know how well prepared the Sky Clan warriors were.

The Demon Lord bid his farewell and Zhan Luo took Ruo Yin back to her room to see how bad was the wound Xia Mei caused.

"You did well today, my wife," Zhan Luo said to Ruo Yin.

"Thanks," Ruo Yin said as she rested her head on Zhan Luo's chest and closed her eyes.
