23 Chapter 22: The Love Rival Reappears Again

Zhan Luo had finally calmed Ruo Yin down.

"I promise you, no matter what, I will be back and will find you. So don't be worried about a silly prophecy," he had last said to her.

Ruo Yin wiping her tears answered him back, "Then it will be better if I don't cook anymore, I don't want to kill you in such a silly way," She managed to give him a small smile.

Zhan Luo's face went serious when Ruo Yin said that to him. Ruo Yin went stiff.

"What have you done with my wife, she loves fighting and feeding me her deadly food!" Zhan Luo said trying to hold his laugh.

She then hit him in the chest, "You are a horrible, terrible deity. I don't understand how the other immortals respect you so much!" She said laughing.

Zhan Luo then hugged her more tightly resting his chin on top of her head.

"What I meant was that you don't have to limit yourself. I won't let anything happen to neither of us. So, if you want me to be your food tester, then I will accept it happily."

Ruo Yin felt her cheeks flush. She still was not used to Zhan Luo speaking about how much he loved her. It was a complete dream for her. She hugged the arms that were around her tightly, and just as she was going to turn around, they both sensed that an immortal had arrived at the mountain.

"If you came back, Si Ming, then consider yourself dead meat!" Zhan Luo shouted, but as he peaked outside, there was no sign of the annoying deity inviting himself. This meant that the visitor was someone else.

Zhan Luo then grabbed Ruo Yin's hand, and they both went to see who was waiting for them at the mountain's entrance.

Ruo Yin squeezed Zhan Luo's hand harder when she saw who was the one waiting at the entrance. It was Xia Mei, the Sky Clan's best general's daughter.

"Xia Mei greets High God Zhan Luo," she said as she bowed totally ignoring that Ruo Yin was also there.

"What business do you have here Xia Mei," Zhan Luo asked her coldly still remembering that she was the reason Ruo Yin ran back to the Demon Clan.

Xia Mei was not a bit intimidated by Zhan Luo. She even stood and held her head with pride as a silent message to Ruo Yin that she was just a hindrance.

"Xia Mei was ordered by the Sky Emperor to discuss a serious matter with you," she said smiling.

Zhan Luo knew she was lying. Yet, he could not dismiss Xia Mei without solid proves.

"Fine. Let's discuss it in my study then," he said as he still held Ruo Yin's hand and told her to go with them.

Xia Mei followed them silently.

Zhan Luo had said to Ruo Yin to sit beside him. Ruo Yin obviously did it happily. She was ready to teach Xia Mei a lesson.

"So, what is the matter that the Sky Emperor ordered you to discuss," Zhan Luo asked already bored.

Xia Mei was glaring at Ruo Yin, "I don't think it will be very wise to discuss it when the Demon Princess is here," she said trying to dismiss Ruo Yin.

Zhan Luo was about to end Xia Mei's little act when Ruo Yin spoke, "And why would that be? Are you planning on destroying the whole Demon Clan or do you think I am not trustworthy enough to hear your conversation? Please mind where you are Xia Mei. I am the mistress of this place and Zhan Luo is my husband. My loyalty goes to him," Ruo Yin said giving Xia Mei a fake smile.

"Ruo Yin can stay. If the Sky Emperor has any problem with her hearing about our conversation, then he should have told it to you before sending you here," Zhan Luo said calmly.

Xia Mei could only bite her tongue. She could not believe that Zhan Luo really fell for this nobody, "It was just a trivial matter..." she said.

"The Sky Emperor had never bothered me with trivial matters, Xia Mei."

Ruo Yin mocked, "My dear husband, you are scaring her. Can't you see she is already trembling?"

Zhan Luo knew Ruo Yin was enjoying making Xia Mei payback. So he just followed her lead, "Fine, Xia Mei could you please tell me what is the matter that the Sky Emperor send you for?"

"It... it was just to discuss some better fighting strategies for the Sky Clan," Xia Mei said trying to act convincingly. The truth was that the Sky Emperor had asked her father to go, but she begged him she wanted to learn from the great War Deity, so he allowed her to go in his stead.

"Okay, so what's the matter with it?" he asked.

"He considers that our way of fighting is too old. That in case any clan wants to make a coup d'état they will easily succeed. You know... like the incident from five thousand years ago." Venom sipped through Xia Mei's tongue as she spoke those last words. Her eyes staring at Ruo Yin. 

Zhan Luo then acted as if he was thinking. Ruo Yin offered, "Why don't I spar with Xia Mei then?"

Xia Mei could not believe that the Demon Princess was such a dumb. The best of the best trained her in the Sky Clan. She could easily defeat this Demon Princess. Yet she could not look as if she was looking forward to hurting the Demon Princess so she asked, "Why would we fight?"

Ruo Yin then said, "I thought you would have known. I'm from the Demon Clan, our fighting style is different. You are from the Sky Clan. It will be the best demonstration so Zhan Luo can see any flaws there are in the Sky Clan fighting style."

Zhan Luo already knew that his wife was all about punches and that she would not go easy on Xia Mei. He just needed to make sure that Ruo Yin did not end up killing her.

"I think it's a good idea, why don't I call Si Ming to come too. After all, he may also know ways the mortals use in the Mortal Realm," Zhan Luo commented, wanting another witness in case things went wrong.

Xia Mei then nodded in agreement. Zhan Luo then wrote in a paper his message to Si Ming and sent it to the Sky Clan through magic.

"I think you need time for preparing, did you bring your sword, Xia Mei?" Zhan Luo asked.

"Yes," Xia Mei said.

Ruo Yin then excused herself since her sword was in her room. Zhan Luo then made her seat again and brought her sword with magic.

"Seriously, you use your magic in the most stupid ways," Ruo Yin muttered.

Zhan Luo could only give her a smile as they waited for Si Ming to arrive so they could start the match between Ruo Yin and Xia Mei.
