Chapter 12: Something Bizarre at Night

*Yawn* It was nighttime already and everyone was about to sleep off. It has been a long day. I thought I was dreaming when I saw everyone but I hoped that Albert wasn't there. He wanted Lucian to kill Elvis. I looked wearily about the room to see Elvis and Jin still awake as Elvis was narrating to the young lad about what happened that night and how we ended up there. Jin sulked after realizing that it was Lucian who knocked him unconscious.

"Darn, it! I did not do anything." Jin sulked angrily and walked to his side of the bed.

"I wouldn't say you did not do anything. I mean, you stalled Lucian." Elvis said trying to cheer him up.

"The time he bought went to waste since you didn't move so..." I point out to the annoyance of Elvis. Soon my stomach growled and I flushed out of embarrassment.

"Was that your stomach?"Jin inquired curiously.

"Yeah, I did not eat much 'cause I lost my appetite. I guess it's back now." The only reason I didn't feel like eating was that that geezer kept trying to feed me like I was a baby.

"I know a place where you could find something to eat. It's not so far from here." Jin whispered.

"But all the fruits in the area are gone plus the barriers placed around the camp are another thing," I said.

"That's why I said I know a place," Jin said.

"Whatever you do Jeffrey, do not listen to Jin. You'll land into trouble one way or the other. I'm half asleep and even I know his plan is a failure. " Elvis turned around the bed as he placed the pillow above his head.

"Maybe I'll listen to Elvis this time. Sorry, Jin." I lay on my bed.

"Suit yourself." Jin crawled to his bed and dozed off.

I turned sideways as my stomach growled louder. It was unbearable. I tapped Jin awake and begged him to take me there and he agreed. As an Orphan, I was used to not sleeping and going hungry for days but I guess John's pampering affected me.

"Jin," I called.

"Yeah, " He answered.

"Sorry to ask but, how did you end up here?"

"Well it was a year back, I was running an errand in the orphanage and then I saw Father. He came and adopted me and a few others there. "

"Oh, I see."

"What about you?" He asked.

"I was an orphan but struggled by myself. My country was involved in a civil war and I had no one to take care of me. One day, I woke up and found myself in a van. I panicked at first since they Kidnapped me."

"They?"

"Albert and Wilson"

"Oh!"

We saw an opening in the fence which was big enough for me and Jin to go through. We wandered and discussed a lot of things about the geezer and the others. Jin reminded me of myself, except that he was more outspoken and got into a lot of trouble.

"We are here." Jin stopped short and bent over to pick some berries." I guess they were either blue or blackberries." Shortly after, I ate to my satisfaction, we heard rustling behind the bush. I became alarmed and I could see the expression on Jin's face too. I bent over the bushes only to see a rabbit.

"Phew! It was just a rabbit. Nothing here. Let's move quickly before they realize we are gone." Jin nodded and we began to retrace our steps back from where we came from. I felt a strange ominous presence, I did not say anything just in case it may be a false alarm and it would scare the hell out of Jin.

"Jin, I worry we should walk faster. "Jin silently obeyed as we walked faster and so was the moving thing behind us. Soon. It broke into a run. Taking Jin's advice for me was the last straw. I knew I should have listened to Elvis but no, I was hungry. I turned back to see only a shadow behind us. Jin was way ahead of me, Great. I tripped on myself and fell face flat with the earth. It was close.

As I was preparing for the end, something blocked the assault and landed right beside me. The mysterious creature soon left after hitting the object. Jin was far away watching all that happened. He came closer to me.

"Are you okay?" Jin asked.

"I'm fine," I said before whacking his head.

"Ouch!" He cried out.

"That was for abandoning me. Why did you run off like that?"I'm pretty sure I sound like Anastasia right now.

"I see anything dangerous. I run." He shrugged.

"You know you could lose trust because of that. Never leave anyone behind. Is that clear?" I stated.

"Okay, what was that thing that blocked the hit from that bizarre thing?"

"Let's find out." I moved closer only for me to see Elvis. His arm had a huge scar. We rushed him to the camp and took him to the nurse.

"Aah!"Anastasia screamed.

"What is wrong Anastasia? " Ash came out looking perplexed then screamed too on seeing Elvis's arm. They were both looking for the nurse and saw Elvis with Madison, Jin and I by his side.

"What happened to your arm?" Anastasia asked worriedly.

"It's a long story." Elvis glared at me and Jin. Anastasia joined too and grabbed both of us by the ear. Oh no! She is going to kill us with her long scolding.
