Confession

The next morning, many students had swarmed around Rin, who looked uncomfortable.

"Rin chan, we saw you going out with Red yesterday on his bike!" A girl teased.

"Did you two go on a date? So fast!" Another friend said.

"Rin, how can you betray us!" A few boys were saddened.

"I.. It's nothing like that!" Rin stammered, she was feeling embarrassed from the scrutiny.

"Hey, leave her alone!" A strict voice suddenly emerged. It was Yui. When the others heard Yui, they were surprised, but they backed away.

Rin looked at Yui gratefully. "Thank you, Yui."

"Don't mention it." Yui said as she turned to her smartphone.

[Yui: Did you go out on a date with Rin yesterday?]

[Red: Haha, I just want to watch a movie and asked her to come along. Why?]

[Yui: She is being besieged by other students right now.]

[Red: _/||\_ Please help her out. ]

Yui's lips curled up, but then she quietly turned calm. Today morning, when she heard that Rin and Red went on a date, she felt uncomfortable, but she quickly squashed the thought.

After some time Red walked into the class. He saw that many of the guys were looking at him as if he were a threat. He was dumbfounded.

"What happened? Why are you guys looking at me like that?" He asked openly in confusion.

The students were surprised by his openness, but they also found it candid and refreshing. One boy stood up. It was the thick rimmed glasses boy.

"Red, you... you are a fake... pretending to have interest in literature so that you can fool Rin chan? Guys like you are dangerous! You must have tricked Rin chan!" He exploded.

Rin suddenly frowned. Red looked dumbfounded. "Ha?!"

Then he laughed. "Bro, what are you talking about? I just invited Rin out as a friend. If you like her tell her directly, why attack me?"

The thick rimmed glasses boy had used up all his pent up frustrations to suddenly lash out at Red. But hearing Red's reply and seeing everyone's attention turn towards him, he suddenly deflated.

He began to panic, but then he saw Red's face. It had an encouraging look on it. He saw Red mouth the words. "I gave you a chance to confess! Use it!" Suddenly, the thick rimmed glasses boy felt moved.

"Yes, this is my chance! Red is so cool!" He thought, as his feelings blinded his rationality. He took a deep breath and looked towards Rin with determination.

"Rin chan, I have had feelings for you since middle school. I like you! Will you please be my girlfriend?" The boy literally screamed his voice hoarse!

Rin was stunned, as were the others!

"Woah!"

"Did that just happen?"

"What the f***!"

Everyone's mind was buzzing, but the class had a pin drop silence as everyone looked towards Rin.

Rin was stunned by the sudden confession which came out of nowhere! She had never even thought of this boy as more than an acquaintance. Now he did not just accuse Red, but then suddenly confessed publicly!

"Akio kun... I am sorry. I don't have any feelings for you!" She immediately rejected him and rushed out of the class in embarrassment.

The boy, Akio, suddenly felt dizzy and sat down as if he lost his soul. Red shook his head as if he saw something sad and quietly walked to his seat. However inwardly he was sneering. "Idiot! Absolute Idiot! A person who was successful in scheming against me hasn't been born yet!"

Yui suddenly turned and looked at Red who had a weird look on his face. "You are always in the midst of something bizarre."

Red looked at Yui, and suddenly froze. His gaze lingered on Yui's face in a daze, before he recollected himself. "Well, I'm helpless." He sighed.

Yui did not miss Red's sudden daze when he looked at her, ofcourse Red didn't intend for her to miss it. Inwardly, Yui felt proud.

Red then spoke again. "Yui, thank you for helping Rin, though now its useless."

Yui sighed. "The entire school is going to be gossiping about this now."

Red nodded. He suddenly got up and walked to the boy, Aito, who looked terribly embarrassed and felt like dying. He loudly patted Aito's shoulder.

"Aito kun, you acted like a man! Why are you feeling deflated! Being rejected is not the end of the world! You had the balls to proclaim your feelings openly, while many others have only secretly hidden it in their hearts. Raise your head! You are a man!" Red said loudly and energetically.

At that moment the faces of the other male students changed. They began speaking up one after another.

"Yes, Aito! I never thought you were such a brave guy!

"Aito, you are awesome! I wish I had balls like you!"

Suddenly Aito felt his self esteem rising. He looked at Red. "Red, you are a real brother!"

Red slapped Aito's shoulder again. "Don't be depressed. Expand your horizon, meet new people. Even if Rin rejected you, it isn't the end of the world!"

Red then returned to his seat. Yui looked at Red with confusion. "Didn't he accuse you of being a show off and tricking Rin earlier? Why did you give him moral support?"

Red sighed. "When he accused me, he was blinded by his feelings for Rin and jealousy. I don't blame him for that. But if I hadn't done what I did just now, the poor lad would have become a target for bullying."

Yui shook her head. "Red, you are too good at heart. You should be more selfish."

Red was inwardly smirking. "This is called advancing appropriately and retreating to sow gratitude!"

Red looked at Yui deeply. "I don't know if I have the credence to be selfish." His provocation towards Yui was clear and Yui's body shivered as she saw hints of sadness in Red's deep blue eyes.

"Indeed, I know next to nothing about Red. What is his past? He knows all kind of mysterious and weird skills, he has a quirky history. May be he has a dark and secretive past." Yui thought. She didn't know how to reply.

Red changed the topic. "Rin must be very embarrassed right now. Can you help her out?"

Yui nodded and walked out of the class with Red. Red waited in the corridor as Yui entered the girls toilet to find Rin looking lost. She turned to see Yui enter.

"Rin, are you alright?" Yui asked.
