The Working Street Guy

After a little fight, Me and Levi went back to the library. I let out a little sigh and looked at levi...she started to read that pamphlet again. Honestly, I was annoyed but had no right to be angry when I pissed her off. I left the Library, leaving behind a note with sorry written on it and left it in front of her, so she could cope with it.

Levi was a good friend, we studied together since we were in 4th grade. She is the daughter of a mechanical engineer, one who was famous and quite respected but went missing under mysterious circumstances.

He was declared missing and dead before Levi's birth.

She doesn't get much attention from her mother, so she is a bit oversensitive to teasing.

Her dad's death has a rumor going around.

It is said that he discovered a better fuel for transport vehicles than in the current era, which led to him being kidnapped and killed by a mafia gang who worked for the fuel marketing companies. All of it, for money.

I was quite intrigued by that rumor and now work with her to find out if there is a new fuel that is better than the current. If there is, then we could be the most prosperous people in the history of this country, Only if we find it.

I chose Levi to work with for two reasons :

1. She was the second-highest scorer in our mechanics class, the highest scorer in our navigation, and the second-highest scorer in mining.

2. A rumor related to her father's legacy would make her work her heart out. A person like her would devote everything to this research.

About my tease of marrying her, I don't see her that way, but we're really close friends and I like to have fun teasing her every now and then. She was the smartest person in our class, after me of course.

And she had high physical strength compared to all the boys in our class, making her excellent in mining.

Though, Her biggest flaw was oversensitivity over small things. Her stubborn nature was a thing I was not sure I liked. for looks, she looks great.

Lost in thought, I realised I was about to reach my workplace. I looked at the buildings and apartments around me. "Boy oh boy, have we developed over the years." I said as I remembered ten years ago, this place looked like an area you would find in the country side today. I smiled at the fact that how quickly time goes by.

My workplace was a car manufacturing company. I am the chief of the repairs department. Today I'm officially on holiday but having nothing to do,

I came here.

Seeing me walk in with a cold expression,

One of the many confused workers asked me, "Sir Phoenix, why are you here? Weren't you officially on holiday today?"

I felt like playing with the workers and said "Well, not like I had anything better to do. I am here for a surprise inspection. The company decided to check whether you work well when not being supervised." Listening to my words, some of them looked as if they had a mini heart-attack. While others kept a straight face.

I got to the inspection and checked the vehicles for any problems. Looking for any cars left unattended or any parts being stolen, but there were none.

I still wonder why they were shocked seeing me show up, Considering everything was fine. While leaving the repair area, I saw a certain brown bag. It looked like a normal worker's bag but something was pointing out of it.

"Oh...I see. Hey everyone! Get here right now!!" Listening to my announcement, all the workers got there and stood near me.

Looking them straight in the eye, I said in an authoritative tone,

"Looks like someone has sneaked some wine into the work area. Well, most of you know what happens to those who do this. So kindly come out yourself." as I expected nobody moved an inch. Neither did they say a thing.

" 'Unity is strength' huh. Let's put it to a small test." I said ominously.

"If the person who brought the bottle isn't gonna come out himself, all the workers are getting 70% of their salaries cut."

Hearing this, all the workers became worried, and slowly but surely, all of them pointed towards the one at fault. I was caught a bit

off-guard.

"Never thought it would've been you 'Law'. Can you please explain the reason behind this

action of yours?" I was surprised by the result as Law was married and barely got a job on some recommendation. Him doing something so stupid would surely have a reason.

With a quivering voice, he spoke,

"Si-Sir, My wife is pregnant. S-So as a celebration I wanted to give everyone a party. But I can't afford that, so I decided to bring a bottle of good wine for everyone."

Hearing this, my heart was hurt. It was not because I felt pity for him, no.

"Man, this is annoying!" listening to me surprised the whole group of workers. "I don't care about that. But the fact you did this act going against the company rules makes me angry. I'm afraid I'll have to punish you."

I saw tears running down his face and the angry looks on the workers' faces. They were all mad at me. But I continued after the pause, "And as a punishment, I get to decide the name of your child, is that understood?" Saying this, I couldn't hold back my grin.

Hearing me say this lightened the mood of the workers and everyone started smiling. Law looked at me straight up hugged me and said "Thank you! Sir, thank you..."

"We have been working together for 2 years now. Do you think I have the guts to fire a Father? You are worse than me for thinking that, you know?"

I didn't tell them anything about the fake inspection or else they would chew my head off, quite literally. I didn't want that.

"So what do you say? Let's go to the bar after work for the celebration. Drinks on me! I'm becoming an uncle!" saying this. I waited for them to finish their work we went to the bar. We drank all we wanted. Talking about our problems, experiences, anything and just enjoying the time we have together.

The time came for us to go home. Our group left the bar and I paid for drinks. They thanked me for the party and we all went our way. After returning to my house, I was tired and went straight to bed. My mind was full of weird thoughts. Like when will I have my own kids and things like these.

"I have a blessing, don't I?" having moments like these made me wonder if getting rich was actually important or not.
