2 Chapter #002 - Calling of the Wild

Passing by a table which was meant as both a dining table and a living room rest table, laid a petite lass who was watching television and reading a novel at the same time. An old favourite of mine, a book named The War of the Worlds By H.G Wells.

As her fluffy tail wagged left and right like a pendulum in synchronization, she then flips a page of the book as I then plop next to her. Relaxing and stretching my arms. I then place my polished bat next to the couch as I pop a can of beer from the bar fridge that was under the couch.

"So, how did it go?" She asks as she concentrates simultaneously on both the devices she had on her. "For a second, I thought you will be overturned by the crowd, but somehow you managed through. I am impressed with your learning skills, Ryuu."

Complimenting me, I gulped the refreshing yet bitter taste of the wheat beer as I placed its cold and sweating can onto the table. With a silent burst of air, I muttered excuse me as I then chuckled softly. "I suppose you can say, being the protecting knight of you can not just be a blessing, I suppose. Especially me being the first human to take such a role."

"Yeah yeah, yeah. Yap all you like. It doesn't matter how much you joke about it but in the end, you will soon be mine by contract." She mutters before pulling herself back and poking her tongue to him before closing the book and closing her seating next to him. "It's only because you helped my mother's kingdom from utter doom of those scoundrels that decided to ambush our little town."

Her little fang poking from her smirk, this teasing lass rubs her fluffing animalistic ears with her hand, grooming it before watching the television. This lass is Princess Fusui, also from the East-Side, she is the incoming heir and soon to be Queen of the Leaf Wolf Clan.

Calm and composed as she is, that is only a part of her training that she had to endure over the years of growth. To be in actual truth, she is still quite a playful and energetic half-wolf that always like to find attention and tease everyone when they aren't keeping attention.

Her mother, the current Queen of The Leaf Wolf Clan consisting of half-wolves who are aggressively trained over their limits from a young to become faithful believers of their Mother God and to become determined and strong knights, you might be in disbelief if I tell you this little wolf here would be one of the strongest politicians that will exist in a thousand years among the many clans and humankind seating of the government.

Not only will she be making sure no one, not even a rival clan can oppose her clan but they will be the most trusted and praise, causing an intermingling relationship among both the semi-species and humans together, causing the other countries to be in both waves of panic and in fear of a never-coming infiltration to make a so-called peaceful world.

I, on the other hand, was appointed the honorary knight of this little brat to make sure she will always be safe and sound and in hopes, to bring her up in the most normal life she could have before learning how to be respective and also strong in guiding every other species that will soon slowly grow in numbers.

Patting her head for no reason, she started blushing and purring softly as she shakes herself back to common sense and makes an angry yet slightly happy look towards me.

"What was that for?!" She childishly asked me as she pouts at the same time with her cheeky pink blushing skin. A budding flower she is, she is fighting among her hormones between a child and a soon to be adult and I have to make sure, she doesn't make dumb decisions to fill her desires. "Ryuu, you know my body doesn't work how it used to due to my ... growing problems so please don't get so touchy-touchy."

"Right right..." I answer back as I hesitate for a second before stretching myself out of the couch. "Take a good rest, I will give a check-up to the others before I continue my work. We shall have to continue up North-side to reach towards the Grasslands next."

Nodding, her ears turned towards the television as she watches her favourite cartoon that pops out in the so-called modern channel for young adults. In my opinion, it sounds pretty much a gamble for money within the economy to force teenagers to pay up the money for some silly entertainment which can be found free if you scurry the internet, even deeper.

Heading up a flight of stairs, I force myself step by step the spiralling abyss of ever-painful steep wooden steps that could lead to someone falling anytime soon as I then, ended up at the desired level I wanted to attend.

Walking through a few empty rooms and long hallways that somehow looks different compared to the exterior of the house, you could say this place is unlimited an advanced technology or a crazily magical place, of sorts.

Appearing before a very old and eastern room which was fitted with lanterns lit by blue floating flames and doors carefully ornamented with professional wood carvings of maple leaves and cherry blossom petals, I slowly open the oncoming slide door as I was greeted by a musky smell of crude alcohol and very squeaky sounds of sleeping noises.

A ceremony of bell jingles could be heard as the drunk silhouette was tossing and turning here and there as she mumbled old songs and strange sentences in its native language.

"Kisuen, you should watch how much you are drinking you know." I sighed out as I reached down and pulled up a wooden jug of dripping alcohol as she slowly awakens and rubs her eyes. "Also, clean your room soon. It reeks here."

Maybe I was a little too harsh on this middle-aged woman with sharp foxy ears and multiple tails poking out left and right which acted as pillows and also a blanket for the drunk lass but in the end, she needs to fight the darkness that she had left behind one way or another.

"I am sorry...."She drags her sentence as she smiles and opens her amber eyes that twinkled alongside her teasing figure. "I am just trying to rest and enjoy myself, hic-" Hiccuping, she covers her mouth as she whispered. "Excuse me." before giggling softly.

"It's fine really, just make sure you know how to keep yourself up to pace. It's hard for you to move on if you keep muddying your brain with temporary pleasures." I explained as I pick up her empty cups and jugs laid all about the vicinity.

Picking herself up and tumbling here and there is a very typical drunk fashion, she helps me arrange the glasses and jugs before dispensing them into the kitchen next to her living room as she uses her blue floating fox-fire to interact with the facilities and wash up the dishes.

"You don't have to. Take a rest. I don't want you hurting yourself, Kisuen." I pat her back as I guided her to her queen-sized bed which was sprayed with flowery perfumes and her hormones to keep her territory.

Holding my nose with my free arm, I avoided inhaling the musk so I couldn't get hypnotized by her magical aura which was accidentally being leaked off her which could seduce a man with just a slight sniff.

"You are so kind, Mr Ryuu. I shall invite you for dinner one day." She exclaims as she then cuddles up onto her blanket and started snoring loudly before hiccuping and waking up once more. "I am sorry, I have forgotten you are still here."

"It is alright..." I answered her as I raised my eyebrow before breathing through my mouth as I facepalmed.

Pulling the blanket she was hugging, I placed it on top of her as she then hugs the pillow she had next to her head. Mumbling sweet sounds of compliments and bubbly delight, she scratches her bum before loosening her robes and snoring once more as she slept in a very odd fashion.

This lass here is Kisuen Yokune, she is a half-fox from the South-side in the deep jungles of the Rainforest. Though she isn't a very important person. She is one of the eight of her siblings which are infamous for the magical craft and arts. She was kicked out from her clan unfortunately as she has a habit of drinking constantly and barely concentrating on her studies.

What they do know is that she has one of the highest magical adepts in the family and is the second oldest in the family who knows about the forbidden magic styles of seducing and changing time itself in her will. She has helped me countless times in increasing the powers of my powerful watch before to help out the other clans that live here but that is very difficult to perform as she is mostly half the time pitifully drunk as she weeps her sad past of endless learning and torture from her family.

Yes, they may be serious when it comes to work and their quite professional works and ethnics but just like every special family, there is a special story or difference which makes up for their works. They are rather robotic and manipulating their magic constantly, they like to attract passerby whether human or monsters to do their bidding in either slavery or other misconducts which Kisuen here despises.

This is why, with her positive difference, I made the chance to gain her trust a few months ago as I met her through the readings of directions from an old journal of a poor adventurer that ended up as one of their slaves which spoke of a blessing of a beast of a woman who could turnover and free them.

Ending up in a hut, where she disguised herself as a human, she would drink her worries away with other visiting adventurers who would join her for a drink or two.

Surprisingly enough, she is still quite pure and innocent and I wonder to this day, how did no man try to take advantage of her in any detesting ways. Perhaps, she had special magic which caused them to treat her in a more respectful and friendly way or they just feared the powerful magical aura the leaked off her which disturbed any visiting mages.

I on the other hand, just like to treat her more of a close friend and a neighbour-father of sorts who would visit and make sure she is safe and sound from time to time. Smiling, as I watch her sleeping soundly, I then take a few steps back as I then cleaned up her place and kitchen as usual as I always do by schedule.

Polishing carefully her vase that she took with her everywhere, I then placed it back at the stand it was resting as I then fill it up with water and plop in a bouquet that was attached to my toolbelt.

Adjusting it to make it seem as if it's freshly flourishing, I then salute the place before closing the sliding door, approving my leave before walking down the long hallway once more before reaching my study room.

Pushing the heavy wooden door that stood before me, I then ended up in a very dim room that was barely lit with blue neon lights and other machines which ran silently in the background. Heading down, introduced with many pamphlets, paper and other thing-ma-jigs strewn all over the place, I squeezed myself through this hoarded mess as I then sat down on my antique wooden chair made out of maple wood as I then removed my watch and put on my pair of reading spectacles.

Pulling open a drawer after putting a pin by its side, I then slide it open as I pull out my laptop and turn it on. As I waited for it to log on, I took out my screwdriver and adjusted my watch as I fix it new parts and add in any extra devices which could perhaps make up the spaces that needed some work.

As the laptop greeted me with its robotic voice, I then use its mouse-pad and tracked the mouse towards a document file as I then double-tap it and read through a document that was somehow connected to the internet and auto-updates of various news that is happening day by day in both my timeline and this current one.

Taking notes with a separate application of a notepad, I typed in any details which were needed and then connected my watch through a USB cable into my laptop. Putting in some numbers and letters, I then press the enter key before I spiralled into an abyss of binary.

Before long, I then ended up again in my office once more but instead of being much of a hoard and small, I was now in a spacious office of sorts as I noticed my sleeping human partner snoring away on her desk chair as her computer was still on.

Sighing and being as quiet as possible. I push down the laptop and lock it again with my watch attached to the drawer. I then cracked my neck and loosened my arms before pushing myself up and picking up a set of keys that were on my table.

Swinging open the door, I watched as my partner continued her sleep, as I then lock the door before walking down a semi-empty hallway as I pass by many other university mates from various cultures and life as I then greet my teacher.

Entering my class, I then attended my typical daily session of mathematical equations and other sophisticated questions that comes out in these daily lives of studies. Picking up my numb hand and willing to attend to a question that was wanting for a student to complete. I then picked myself up once more as I then grab the small piece of chalk that was given by my lecturer as I then write out a whole calculation on simple Calculus.

Walking back to my seat after placing the chalk back onto the teacher's palms, I then walk my way confidently to my seat as my friendly female neighbour who is the same age as me, winks at me with a small wave.

Winking back at her, I sat down at my seat as her friend started gossiping softly into her ears about the other classes latest news about scandals and et cetera. Mentioning how come we are so close, my neighbouring friend explains how we are rather much close to each other since we were childhood friends.

Didn't mind much about her friend who stared into my face as I concentrated on the board, I then slowly fell asleep due to the boring session before ending up awoken with a loud ring in my ear a pat on my back.

Yawning and stretching, I turned my head to see my friend once more with a lovely hand, pulled me up as then headed to the cafeteria for lunch.

We talked about the latest trends and other works before ending up separating as he then needs to get downtown for his part-time job as some sort of courier.

Waving to him goodbye, I then also took my rest as I headed towards my simple and lovely motorbike. Putting on my helmet, I then rode through multiple junctions and other flashing traffic lights as I then ended up in a church-side.

Greeting a sister who was passing by with her partners, I then headed to the cemetery as I then went through some time of searching for a certain set of tombstones I wanted. Smiling and kneeling to the ones I wanted, I then read a prayer to it.

Reading the tombstone were my dead parents, Walter Conundrum and Helena Conundrum as they were both written a time of their birth and their death year which were the same. 1944, the time when the Great War came which sold the life of millions of people both monsters, humans and other kinds of beings.

Being soldiers and scientists, they sacrificed their lives as they both protected me and served their country through and through, now resting in peace. I shall make a difference in what I missed. You could say I have gone insane in grief but in actuality, I am just making proper sense.

Few of these legends about human beast hybrids existed for aeons and few of them still exist now, they are governing and helping civilians life for the better, guided by another timeline me which made unfortunately a timely mistake.

With an alternate name, I came by using my real name instead to see if there is a difference. If I can't solve the problems that happened now, then my next to me from another timeline would do so. Time-breaking yes, Paradoxes maximizing, yes, but in the end, it's all in a day's work.

As I send my greetings to my parent's dead body rotting under the earth, decomposing into fertilizer and bone marrow, I then thought through my decisions as I rode through the sunsets when I received an out of the blues phone call.

Stopping my bike, by a playground of both semi-humans and humans playing together, I answered the phone as a familiar voice called out to me.

"Hello, Ryuu. It is me." It exclaimed as I heard a feminine voice called out to me. "The Black Witch."

"It's been ages since you called. What's the matter, dear one?" I asked as I tapped my spectacles which gave me a showcase of time by its corner-side. "Is it important?"

"No, I just want you to come here for a visit. Tea, perhaps? It's not business but it's more of an invitation to see an old friend." She spoke in a rather mature yet snake-like manner.

"Or should I say, a boyfriend?"
