Vivid Dream

Vibrant screens displaying a multitude of information flickered with a dazzling array of colors, drawing the gaze of people passing by.

Countless cars came and went on the roads, while above, many flying modes of transportation hovered in the sky.

Clearly, this wasn't the Earth that Clerion remembered. As far as his knowledge goes, no one has yet invented a common flying transportation mode that can hover around in the streets.

"Where am I?"

Not knowing where he was, Clerion aimlessly walked around the city, hoping to find some clues about this place.

Panic did not overtake him as he roamed around this unknown world; maybe this was just a lucid dream, allowing him to have a sweet dream of becoming a transmigrator enabling him to escape reality.

However, don't they always come with memories of the previous owner? Why hasn't the memory appeared in his brain yet?

If he doesn't have any information about this world, how will he become the main character in this dream world?

Was he perhaps a cannon fodder?

No... Even a cannon fodder in the transmigration novel becomes the main character at some point.

Then... was he a villain?

Well... Becoming a villain wasn't too bad.

He could just say goodbye to the life of a villain and live comfortably.

Though, he doesn't look like a villain. He saw his current appearance in the window, and he was more of a "boy next door" type of guy rather than a bad boy. With his dark, messy hair with bits of green highlights, paired with his puppy-like eyes, there was no trace of him being a villain.

Also, he doesn't have a muscular body. He is tall and lean, a perfect body for modeling on Earth.

He was kind of envious of the appearance of himself in this dream. If only he could possess this appearance in real life, he would become rich just by using his face value. But reality hurts; he wasn't that handsome in real life to earn from his physical appearance.

Then... was he really the main character? With his current appearance, he could definitely pass off as the main character...

But wait... was he even dreaming about a novel he read?

It doesn't look like so.

What was all of this?

A parallel world? But there were no similarities between the world in his dream and his hometown.

Was this an unknown world, something his brain had created after reading countless novels? Maybe. Reading many books had confused his mind.

Should he wait for the system to activate?

But what if there wasn't any system?

What... what the heck was this dream?

"Clerion!"

Hearing someone calling his name, Clerion turned towards where the voice was coming from.

There he saw a young man with a slight resemblance to this body. If it weren't for the blue highlights on the young man's hair, they could have passed off as twins.

"Clerion! We were looking for you!"

Clerion looked at the young man in front of him strangely. Who was this guy? A relative of his character in this dream?

"You are...?"

The young man frowned as he heard Clerion's words. Was there something wrong going on his brother's head?

"Brother, did the shock of having a low status made you lose your mind?"

His brother had just received his watch, but now he was acting as if he lost his memories. Was the status he received too shocking for him to lose his sanity?

Hearing the word "status" further confused Clerion.

'Is this a world where System Status, dungeons are a common occurrence?'

At least he was able to deduce what this world was from talking with the little brother of this character.

"Uhm... Status, huh?"

Looking at the airhead Clerion, the young man didn't bother to get additional reaction from him and directly took his hand.

Maybe his bro had really lost his mind as soon as he saw the results of his status.

"Wait... Where are we going?"

Clerion was baffled at this little brother of his suddenly taking his hand. Where was he taking him?

"Obviously we're going home! Leaving you here aimlessly walking around the streets is not good for someone like you who lost his mind."

Did his brother in this dream just call him crazy?

***

"Mom! I'm telling you, my brother became crazy because of his status! As soon as he got his watch, he wasn't himself anymore!"

Clerion sat at the table, looking towards his parents and his little brother, Claydon. It had been an hour since he arrived in this house, a family unit in a big condominium.

His parents and brother had been discussing his case, and since then he had learned much about this lucid dream of his.

Unable to control the dream, he simply let it unfold on its own. Taking the stance of a bystander, he would observe how this dream would progress.

During the conversation among the family of the character he assumed, he learned that his name, Clerion, remained the same, so he didn't need to adjust to a new name. However, he now had a different surname: Vandayers.

The current world in this dream seemed like a game, with people possessing window-like status displays as soon as they tapped their watches.

Clerion glanced at his watch. He hadn't noticed anything unusual about it before; he thought it was just a normal watch, but it turned out to be where his status window would appear.

Although he didn't know how to interpret this status, from the discussion among his family, he understood that he had received an ordinary status.

It seemed like this 'Clerion' wanted to become some sort of Dungeon Explorer, but to achieve that, he needed to have an exceptional status. Clearly, he wasn't fit to become a Dungeon Explorer.

Sigh, even in this dream, he was nothing but ordinary. It seemed like he was destined to be ordinary in every aspect of his life.

However, there was something that slipped in his mind.

Wasn't this dream too vivid to even consider it as a dream?
