Should I start a journal for reincarnates?

During these short, but action filled eight years of mine I have come to learn many things. The most important of which is appreciating my current reality. Never in my life would I have imagined to be in such a situation. And it hit me pretty hard, but in a good way.

I was overwhelmed with Eos and its wonders; a multitude of fantastical races, intelligent beasts, love, family, MAGIC!

I was so eager to try and experience everything at once that I missed out on something that takes patience to learn about.

I did not take a second to take everything in, but now, as I stroll through the white blanketed meadow, observing the small town getting closer, a tinge of regret pricks my chest.

The frozen river was glistening with the bright sunlight, like a diamond. The fishermen going back after a long day's work at picking at the ice and trying to catch fish… Everything was so different than what I was used to back on earth… So tranquil.

However, you can't just throw away almost a decade of isolation from any foreign human interaction. I was still nervous about being in the presence of so many people…so many potential threats.

'Good thing I've traded with some farmers and shepherds before, that has to count for something, right?'

Apparently it doesn't.

The moment I stepped foot, or rock, into the town area, my heart beat with ferocity and my hands itched, looking to grab my staff and attack.

Even those kids, Leo, Patrick and Lester, if it weren't for frequent duels or fights, I would have been nervous to confront them. Having a weapon in my hand and engaging in violence quells my feelings of nervousness.

I know it is wrong, but it..helps

[Calm down Elias, no one is a foe, they are simple villagers nothing to fear]

Thankfully, I was not completely alone. I had Eset who was quick to try and calm me down.

Eset was sure to sense my surging emotions, something I failed to take into mind when I decided to hide my nervousness from her, again.

Over the years we have gotten to know each other on a very deep level. Besides my secret, Eset instinctively knows everything that concerns me, and vice versa.

Speaking into my mind so that the villagers do not get even more weirded out by the hermit boy riding a rock, I hid my conversation from there prying eyes.

[I'm fine. As long as no one gets too close, I think there won't be any problem]

Eset was not too convinced with my answer, and neither was I, but like the best sister in the world she is, she nudged her head gently with mine affirming her support.

Amidst my stroll, a speed I decelerated down to once I learned how to control the spell, and one caused by the snow slowing me down. I realized one tiny hurdle to cross.

I don't know where they live…Maybe it's not a tiny hurdle.

[Uhm, Eset, Do you know how we can find these guys?]

For the umpteenth time, as an honorable mention, I swear I could see her mock me. But her facial features as an owl don't allow her to!

I guess I should just list it up as fantasy world logic.

[Elias, I have the best hearing out of all the beats. I can hear them from miles and miles away. Go there]

'Great, now her ego just got bigger.'

The sun had already set.

We reached an area Eset and I have yet to explore. The area was darker than anything I have seen before. And I am not talking about the visibility, the landscape itself gives off a very malicious feeling.

[Are you sensing this too?]

[I have a strange feeling about this Elias. If the kids are here, then let's find them and get out of here quickly.]

I picked up the pace and began toggling between the dense forestation. Predators a many I found, their eyes were lurking in the veil of the night, glowing with murderous intent.

I could have faced some of them easily to send a message and ward off any of the others, but I feel like I am on the clock. There is something instinctually guiding me to reach the kids faster.

[Elias, they are not alone. I can hear snarling, I think they are surrounded by a pack of wolves.]

My gut feeling was right. I did not need to be told twice before picking up more speed.

Picking up the pace and stretching the spell to its speed limit, and my Aeter reserves, I accelerated as fast as I can. At this point I was close enough to rely on my enhanced sense.

It took me mere moments to get there, yet the damage was already done.

I dispelled {Rocks Fall} and surveyed the battle area.

Lester lay on the ground with a flesh torn arm and claw marks littering his whole body. He lay face down, his position not giving away any signs of life.

Patrick and Leo were relatively better, surrounding their fallen comrade, and in turn surrounded by three black wolves.

"GET AWAY!" Yelled Leo at the three approaching wolves as he swung his wooden sword in wide arcs.

In the heat of the moment, Patrick and Leo did not notice my arrival, but the wolves sure did.

They snarled, baring their salivating maws. The largest lupine in the middle nodded his head towards me causing the flanking wolves to move past the three kids and heads my way.

'Predator recognize predator.'

Trailing their eyes with the leaving wolves and turning their backs to their immediate threats, the two boys were shocked to find me there.

'Amateurs'

Leo held eye contact with me and screamed at the top of his lungs when he was able to gather his thoughts and regain his bearing.

"What are you doing here?! RUNN!"

I ignored him. These mutts were no big deal, but to be safe I need Eset to pitch in.

[Hey Eset, mind taking care of them]

[Sure, but you owe me a new crystal. Two is not enough]

Eset flew away quickly, sealing the deal and making sure I cannot back out.

'Heh, cheeky diva. It's not like I did not give you any, we just can't find them.'

Breaking me out of my thoughts, the two over glorified dogs in front of me snarled to try and show some form of dominating behavior, but these regular wolves were no longer a foe I consider a challenge.

Deciding to end this quickly, I molded the earth into iron spikes. Yes full iron spikes, and impaled the wolves through their brains cleanly. No splatter, no mess, a quick kill.

I was no longer the immature kid that would celebrate these kills. The wolves were just a part of the cycle of nature, and respect is due, even in death.

I buried their corpses into the earth's embrace and moved over to Eset. But I took my time, she was no more a defenseless caster, but a more achieved one, fitting of her name.

(Eset Pov)

The powerful C rank owl landed elegantly in front of the savage wolf, her beautiful white antlers drawing a sharp contrast to her dark body blending in with the night.

'Hmm, Elias drew the wolves to him before he attacked. He must be worried of collateral damage.'

-GRRRR

'Tsk, annoying doggy'

The lupine beast looked at Eset hungrily, but at the frail boys behind her with even more hunger. He was a black furred wolf, a shadow wolf, wielding the darkness element.

The shadow wolf feinted a lunge at Eset, and then quickly delved into the night cast shadow and charged at the boys.

"S-stay back!" The red haired boy yelled.

Leo still had some courage left in his veins, while Patrick was mostly a mute shivering mess. Yet no matter how much bravery Leo could muster, his legs still buckled and he fell on his rear end, toppling the tall boy clinging to his back.

The pair of boys awaited their doom of canines looking to tear them apart, but a crack in the air materialized just in front of them.

Like cracked glass, reality fractured in a fissure of white and dark blue energy swallowing the wolf and throwing him right where he was standing moments ago, but still in a lunged position and open mawed.

The wolf did not know what just happened, and did not even get to know, for an invisible energy sliced open his face, dropping him limp to the cold frost covered ground.

Eset put down her diagonally slashing wing, and heaved a soft sigh.

[Making me work at night…]
