A Day In The Life Of Aurora Lyndell

-Tak Tak Tak Tak

Within a carriage traveling at fast pace, Aurora tapped her finger nail somberly on the window frame, scanning the ruins of the capital with sorrow evident in her emerald eyes.

Fire lay waste to many of the buildings, rubble continuously chipping off of the once beautiful structures.

The pristine white cobblestone stained red with blood, and the small trees planted on the side of the road were but smoldering ash, a mere husk of their former beauty.

Troops patrolled the streets, swords drawn and shields at the ready. Their once white capes no longer fluttered with the wind, weighed down by a mixture of sweat, blood and tears. Their dark visorred barbutas were worn with the visor down, the shadow of the helmet concealing their eyes, enhancing their menacing appearance.

'The gem of Acacia, reduced to this…state'

"HALT! Who goes there?"

Breaking her out of her thoughts, a guard's voice sounded loudly.

'Seems we've arrived.'

Outside, a soldier riding atop a white horse jumped down and announced their identity.

"This is the carriage of… G-General, salute"

Not giving the soldiers a chance to complete the formality of identifying the ambiguous carriage. Aurora exited suddenly and made her presence known; Rendering the ride in an inconspicuous carriage all for naught.

"At ease soldiers. Make way and open up the gates, time is of the essence."

Thumping his fist passionately against his chest plate, the palace gate soldier motioned for the others to make way and stood aright clutching his halberd tightly, the tip pointed at the heavens.

In a magnificent hall decorated by satin curtains and chandeliers of luxurious grandeur, sat an elegant woman atop a throne. The walls of the hall carried runic scriptures brimming with a powerful golden light, enhancing the mystery and majesty of it.

Much like the rest of the hall the throne was ashen in color. It was made of marble like material, woven intricately into a complex and majestic structure. The back rest of the throne extended high up almost reaching the high sealing, and a maroon colored satin carpet extended right from the floor of the throne, to the end of the hall by the great doors that carried intricate patterns depicting Holy Scriptures of war.

On the sides of the satin carpet, tall menacing statues peered down on the three kneeling figures dressed in powerful armor.

The statues were illuminated by a variety of mesmerizing color as sunlight seeped through the stained glass, painting color upon the chiseled figures captures within marble.

The elegant ruler on the throne sighed softly, her breath carrying small particles of crystalized Aeter, a true testament to her strength.

'That mischievous girl, making me wait all this time…I should punish her by taking little Elias away for myself ufufu.'

The three kneeling below the throne's platform watched on awkwardly as their empress chuckled softly to herself out of the blue. Yet when her heterochromatic eyes met theirs, a shiver went down their backs, instantly making them lower their eyes.

' ' 'SCARY' ' '

Allowing them a breath of relief, a powerful voice echoed from behind the gigantic doors.

"Entering the Hearth, her highness Aurora Lyndell"

The sounds of heeled boots echoed in the hall as Aurora approached. Her great witch hat disappeared into a swirl of water that curled around her arm and materialized into a scaled blue bracelet.

Aurora passed the kneeling figures and climbed the small steps of the platform reaching the throne of her mother Eudora, the Empress of the Lyndell Empire.

With a hand on her heart and another clutching the hems of her battle robe, Aurora performed a light royal bow.

"Greetings, Mother Empress"

"Greetings Aurora, late are we?"

Frustrated at her mother's snarky remark, Aurora chuckled dryly.

"Oh my, I think maintaining the WHOLE north eastern front alone must have taken a toll on me. I predicted to arrive on time, silly me."

"Well then, it seems you've gotten a bit rusty after your little 'vacation'. Do you need someone to help you complete your duties dear?"

The intense stare down of the two powerful women caused sparks to fly between them.

Sweat dribbled down the foreheads of the kneeling trio, nervousness clear in their eyes. However, for the second time, another interruption saved them from a dangerous scenario.

"My Empress, Lady Aurora. Perhaps it is wiser to proceed with the meeting rather than bicker amongst ourselves."

The two powerful women broke eye contact and started intently at the new comer birthed out of the shadows of the throne.

She had black hair lifted into a bun with grey streaks running through it. She wore a black Victorian dress dress covering every inch of her skin, forming a high tight collar around her neck with a hexagonal white gem buttoning it.

"Sophia, you have returned. Should I presume that the operation was a success?"

The lady assassin fixed her glasses and took out a written report, presenting it to the Empress.

"Yes your highness, the targets were relieved of their lives."

Eudora nodded in affirmation as she crossed her legs and delved into the report.

Moments later, she threw the report to the side before addressing the kneeling men.

"Generals, we are in the last phase of our plan. Do any of you have any qualms with our next course of action? Henry?"

"None your highness."

The old man with the scarred eye replied

"Aurelias?"

"I am yours to command your highness."

A young man with golden curly hair replied.

"Rowan?"

"None"

Replied the quiet hooded man.

Aurora watched on with a disinterested face as her mother asked each of the generals present, as if she would not have proceeded with her plan regardless.

'You and your theatrics…'

The longing mother walked away from the throne, leaving behind the discussions and toward one of the statues.

The marble beauty depicted a multi armed, lion faced goddess.

'Oh Atharvana, why did you have to slumber now. We are in trouble, our empire, our people…my family. Please, come back.'

Tears slipped from her magnificent emerald eyes and her cheeks flushed red. She dug her nails into her palms and bit her lips tightly in an attempt to control her emotions; yet it was fruitless.

'Elias, my baby boy. Please be safe and hang tight, mother will come for you. I promise.'
