4 First Encounter

[A/N: I wrote this chapter when I was half asleep, so forgive me if there are any mistakes!😭😭]

The Dracaena's smell was pungent and reminded Winston of rotten carcasses. Their upper body was relatively humanoid; however, their lower body reminiscent of snakes. It was scaly with a green hue on it with splatters of a red liquid, presumably blood. The Dracaena towered over Winston with a height of 4 meters.

"You smell appetizing spawn of Hades," said the Dracaena, "I certainly will be full after eating you."

Winston quickly reached for his switchblade inside his pocket, it was a regular gift from his adoptive father, and he had used it before. Winston lunged for the Dracaenas torso with his switchblade expecting it to at least pierce the Dracaena. Instead, the blade merely stopped against the tough skin of the Dracaena with nothing to show for it.

"Foolish Demigod," said the Dracaena, "Only godly metalsss will be able to cut through usss monsters. No puny metals made from mortals can touch us!"

Winston quickly jumped back; however, the Dracaena latched on to his and threw him towards the thicket of trees.

"ARGH!!" cried Winston, 'That hurt like a buttcheek on a stick!'

"Run, little demigod!" hissed the Dracaena, "I love to play with my food!"

The breath was knocked out of his lungs with a particularly nasty collision with a tree. The Dracaena was steadily approaching his location; in desperation, Winston reached out towards his gut and took hold of it. He felt an unknown source of energy filling him up; it revitalized him and sharpened his senses.

Ever since the death of his adoptive family and the realization of him being part god, this was the first time Winston felt the part of being a demigod. He felt powerful and had an intuitive connection with his shadow and the ones surrounding him.

Using this to his advantage, he slowly channeled the power from his gut into something instinctual. The shadows wrapped him up, giving him a cloak of darkness.

The Dracaena spotted Winston and lunged, pulling back her clawed arm likely to maul him. Winston took a firm grip on the handle of his dagger and prepared to defend. The moment she got too close, however, the shadow cloak quickly shifted into a spike protectively.

*SLASH*

The sound of the spike slashing through the hard scaly flesh of the Dracaena permeated the air. Winston gazed in awe as the Dracaena's body slowly disappeared into golden dust.

"I'll get you next time foolisssh demigod!!!" vowed the Dracaena with a hiss.

Winston stumbled backward as his adrenaline rush was ending. He gazed at the receding protective shadows covering his bodies in awe.

'That was exhilarating. However, what did the Dracaena mean by getting you next time?! Didn't I kill her?' thought Winston.

What Winston didn't know, however, was that monster only 'die' for a short amount of time before being resurrected.

'Well, I'll have to think about that later; I have to get moving! The sun is close to setting, and I have no idea when the next monster is coming.', contemplated Winston. He started to trudge away from the now dusty remains of the monster and headed towards the camp.

—————-TIME-SKIP BECAUSE I'M LAZY—-

It had been around three days since Winston's encounter with the Dracaena. He hadn't run into any monsters yet and wasn't planning for n changing that anytime soon. He had no idea that his shadow cloak would return to protect him.

Winston slept for the most part in a wooded area but was steadily approaching camp half-blood. He estimated that it would take around 1-2 night max to reach the camp and was looking forward to it. He was getting sick of being in solitude and wanted someone to talk to.

Soon, Winston stumbled out of the woods and into a park. He looked around to see if there was any idea where he was. While looking around the park for a sign of sorts, he ran into somebody.

He hurriedly started to apologize but was quickly stopped when the stranger said.

"Hey! You're a demigod, aren't you supposed to be in camp?"

Winston looked at the stranger apprehensively and slowly inched his hand down to his waist where his dagger was sheathed.

"WOAH! Calm down. I'm a satyr! My name is Thomas Shrub!"

[ A/N: This is my first fight scene. It's been a while since I've read Percy Jackson, but please tell me if there is anything wrong so far. The books don't say anything about what happens to mortal metal against monsters, so I made it as it takes an extraordinary amount of force to damage a monster with metal. Also, side note: Maybe I could make him have chakra and use Shikamaru's shadow kekkaigenkai? let me know what you guys think!]

[A/N: Also, I'm going to be revising this chapter soon!]
