174 The Thief Watchman

That very night was very dark. In Anga village, people usually ceased getting out of their houses after the sunset. But today they went inside their houses earlier. Doors and windows were sealed. Children were prohibited from playing outside. In fact the doors of all the religious altars were locked shut.

The village felt deserted…..

And in this deserted environment, a loud voice could be heard calling, "Be Vigilant!!"

"Everything is alright!!"

"Check your protection wards!!"

This voice announced these sentences after constant few small intervals. This voice belonged to Rai, the man who had agreed to become the guard for the villagers.

Time passed and slowly the sky was shrouded by darkness. The village started feeling like the city of the dead. No sound was audible in the entire area, except that warning of 'be vigilant'.

The blowing wind felt chilly and it was passing through the streets of the silent city with a swoosh sound.
