The Will

I was about to go for a meeting when Mo Yang knocked on the door.

"Mr. Cai is here to meet you." He informed me.

"Bring him in and postpone the meeting." I order him.

I am more or less aware why Mr. Cai came here.

Mr. Cai is a middle aged man who worked for my grandfather as a lawyer before I took over Qin Corporation.

He is a trusted lawyer of my grandfather. It was time to process his will.

I want to finish it as soon as possible. I already lost control over myself the past few days.

It can't happen again.

"Mr. Qin,"

"Mr. Cai," I motioned him to take the seat in front of me.

"You must be already aware why I am here." He said smilingly.

I nod. There's no point of pretending that I don't. I just felt that his smile was a little fishy.

"I won't beat around the bush then. It might not be as easy as you think. Your grandfather left you a task to complete, and then only you will be able to get his shares and inheritance." He said with a smile like that's the most natural thing.

I frown at his words. What task?

Maybe he understood my reaction, he gave me two envelopes from his suitcase.

"This is the letter he left for you, and this one is of your sister. Please help me to pass her this."

I nod absentmindedly as I open my letter to read.

"My dear Qin Feng,

I know you must be very sad right now, when you received this letter, but I hope you can move on and find a little happiness in your life. I lived my life peacefully. I saw you guys grow up in front of my eyes. You don't know how content you both make me feel. I couldn't ask for anything more from life.

I still remember how you used to run behind me when you were this small, and in a blink of an eye you already became an adult. As much as I wanted to protect you, you still grew up.

I am sorry that when I should have done something, it was you who took care of me. I will always be indebted to you for that.

I thought it would have been all over, and I would never tell you the truth, but I suppose one can never hide the truth.

It's better if you find it out on your own. I hope you never get to that point though.

It almost cost me my life."

What truth is he talking about? I don't think there was something which I was not aware about.

I clear my thoughts and continue reading.

"I know it's kind of cruel of me, but if I don't set this condition you would never do this.

I have my reasons, and some things you won't believe even if I told you.

To receive your shares of the company, and your inheritance, and for Bai'er to get what she deserves.

You need to help Su Li create a business of 500 million dollars from scratch. It should be of her interest, and you can't force her in any decision.

I am speechless. I don't know what to think anymore. Anything else could have been possible, but this? Seriously? Did he realized how ridiculous his request is?

I don't even know her, and why would she even take my help. And what does all of this have to do anything with her? I am having countless questions in my head, but the only person who could give me answer is gone.

I don't understand what is it that even my grandfather could not talk about?

I take a deep breath and finish the letter.

I can't lose my cool in front of lawyer Cai.

"I honestly can't believe I would meet her, but I guess some things are meant to happen.

And since you can't change your fate. I want you to be prepared at least.

I know you will do your best, so as to not let outsiders take the fruits of my labor, and protect what you and your sister deserves.

I know that it was a hasty decision to get Bai'er engaged. But I had little time, and I wanted to see at least one of my grandchild getting the love of their life.

The letter ended. But I still couldn't digest the whole thing.

I am left with so many puzzles, whose solution I will have to find myself.

I will have to find what kind of danger we are in, and what connection does Su Li have with it.

At least I know where to start. He mentioned that he knew her Grandfather.

I might find something after investigating him.

"What will happen if I am unable to complete the task written in his will?" I ask Mr. Cai.

There must be some loophole.

"I can't tell you clearly right now, but those shares will go to some rivals of the Qin family." He said it like a matter of fact.

Damn. My grandpa knew me the best. He already set such a trap leaving me with no choice but to follow his words.

"Pan Haoyu will help you manage the Qin Corporation till you complete the task which is written in the will. Don't worry you will still have the whole authority. Your grandfather just wanted to make sure that you had enough time."

What to say. He planned everything meticulously. Do I even have any option left?

"Also you can't tell anyone the real reason why you are helping her establish a business." Lawyer Cai reminded me.

As if I was going to tell anyone.

"Can I tell her though?" I ask. I don't think she is ever going to agree otherwise.

"That completely depends upon you."

"Okay, I understand. Thanks for coming." I say clearly indicating that I am done for today and he can leave me alone.

"Then I'll inform Pan Haoyu to come from tomorrow. Have a good day." Lawyer Cai said as he stood to depart.

I thank him and walk him out.

I tell Mo yang to attend the meeting in my place. I need time to think about all the mess I am in.

I would need to think of something to tell the employees if someone comes to help at my position.

What am I supposed to tell Su Li though? I don't think she will agree even if I tell her about the will now.

I sometimes don't understand my grandfather. He first gave such a ridiculous task, and then forced me into a corner where I don't have any option other than completing it.

Thousands of thoughts are running inside my head right now, I can't believe he gave me a roller coaster ride just through his letter.

What situation have I gotten myself into?

My grandfather must be very happy seeing me like this.
