He continued to maintain his cool composure and answered her questions calmly.

“So you want me to serve under you? On what qualification do you have to be my master?” The sword spirit kept asking him.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

“Qualification? In terms of cultivation, I certainly stood no chance but in terms of knowledge, I confidently can say that far surpassing you.”

The atmosphere suddenly turned quiet and cold.

The sword spirit with her eyes closed suddenly let out a laugh.

The moment she let out all those words, the platform where they were standing on earlier suddenly vanished.

The sealed space before suddenly turned to a complete void.

Shu Haoyu who was currently just floating around amidst the void suddenly turned panicked.

“H-hey you, w-what is happening?” He asked.

But there was no response. He tried to look for the sword spirit but she was nowhere to be found.

A few seconds later, a bright light suddenly popped out from thin air flashing his eyesight.

The light was so bright to the point that he couldn’t see anything at all and the only option is to close his eyes.

A few seconds later, the bright light that came out of nowhere earlier slowly faded away until the atmosphere turned to complete normal.

Shu Haoyu took the initiative to open his eyes and he was surprised to see that he was greeted by the sword spirit.

But this time, she was in a complete well-mannered dress and attitude which made her look so elegant.

“Welcome Master, from now on I have decided to serve under you and be your sword piercing through all your enemies.” She said while kneeling towards Shu Haoyu.

Shu Haoyu who was completely surprised at the moment can’t help but turned overjoyed as he successfully subdued the strongest ally in this world that one could possibly have.

“Stand up, stand up, you shouldn’t be kneeling in front of just anyone.” He said as he couldn’t think of any better response.

“Anyone? But you’re my master.” The sword spirit calmly answered.

Shu Haoyu turned speechless for a second.

“Yes-yes, you got a point there but I want you to stop kneeling and stand up.” Shu Haoyu said in a stuttered tone.

“As per your order master.” The sword spirit quickly stood up.

Once she has stood up, Shu Haoyu looked at her and noticed some resemblances that reminded him of someone he used to know in his past life.

“Looking at you, reminds me of someone I used to know.”

The sword spirit turned confused.

“Someone you used to know? But you look so young Master.”

Shu Haoyu smiled.

“Naturally, you won’t understand it now but one day you would realize the meaning behind my words today. One more thing, I want you to stop calling me master instead just use me Haoyu in the future.” He said.

The sword spirit turned more confused but decided to stop pursuing the matter.

“B-but I can’t do that Mas-”

Before even getting to finish her words, Shu Haoyu interrupted it by suddenly saying, “As your master, I order you to stop calling me master, you’re not my underling but my allies, my companion.” He said in a cold voice.

“B-but.! Haaa~ yes… Haoyu.”

The sword spirit held the urge to refute but she knew it very well that no matter she argued back she won’t be able to convince Haoyu. Therefore, she could only agree with him.

“Oh yea, come to think of it. You never told me your name.” Shu Haoyu suddenly said.

“My name? If I remember it correctly, my previous master used to call me by Ji Yao.”

Heard the name Ji Yao, Shu Haoyu suddenly turned completely silent, he just stood there silently.

His eyes let out a few drops of tears. His mind suddenly was filled with a nostalgic feeling.

An old memory suddenly flashed inside his mind.

“H-Haoyu? What’s wrong with you? If you hate that name so much you can just give me a new name. There’s no need to cry!” She suddenly became panicked as she was afraid she had misspoke something.

Noticed that he was letting out a drop of tears, he suddenly said, “Keep it. I like it. It was a beautiful name.”

Ji Yao’s face turned a little bit red after Shu Haoyu complimented her name.

Suddenly, a sword mark slowly appeared on both of their right hands.

“E-eekk-, what is this Ji Yao!? A random sword-shaped tattoo suddenly popped out on my right hand.” Haoyu said as he looked at his right hand.

“Calm down you idiot! It’s not a tattoo. It’s a sword-mark, with this you have officially become the owner of the sword.” Ji Yao said.

“And one more thing, the sword-mark only works with a sword that contained a spirit.” She added.

“Ohhh~” Shu Haoyu felt a little bit embarrassed.

A few seconds later, his face showed some kind of confusion.

“But I didn’t remember any kind of sword-mark before when I made a contract with another sword spirit…” He thought.

“Ahh forget it, it’s not like I know every single thing that happens in the world. The world is vast, let’s just take this as some sort of special circumstance.” He mumbled.
