Chapter 4 The Vile King

I continued my journey to the palace in the Buija Kingdom.

Meanwhile at the palace...

My parents were tied by their hands.

They were made to kneel beside each other.

And before them, the king himself, King Herald.

"Well, look what we have here." Said the king with a laughing tone. "Zachary, what have been doing until now? The last time I see you left the palace with a huge smile on your face. Where is the smile now? Why are you staring at me like that? I could smell your bloodthirsty for me, you know. Hahaha!"

"It's because you slaughtered the whole Reyna Village!" Zachary replied. "What did you want after all this time? I went to the farthest village from the palace, as I promised with my father. Where is he? Let me talk to him!"

"He's dead."

"What... When? Why was I wasn't informed?"

The king walked towards them slowly.

He bent to take a closer look at Zachary.

"Oh, brother... You left father and mother to live with this commoner girl..."

The king took a look to his left.

He took a look at Milanjo's face and grabbed her hair and swung it around.

"Let her go, brother!" Zachary tried to stop him, but he didn't listen.

"Enough!"

An old woman's voice was heard from a door behind Zachary.

"Mother, What a delight to see you. My little brother is here. We are having some reunion between ourselves now."

"Enough! let go of her, Herald." Said the king's mother.

He let go of Milanjo's hair with a dissatisfied face.

"What do all of you want now? It's been a few years already. Why now?" Asked Zachary while switching his gaze between his mother and brother.

"The thing is..." The mother answered. "Your father, the old king wants you to be the next king, despite you being the younger one."

"What... Why?"

"We also don't know. But, by anonymous vote from the council, your brother will be the next king."

"So, why am I and Milanjo brought here after you destroyed my village?!"

Suddenly, King Herald laughed loudly.

"Hahaha!... Nothing. Really, nothing. I have always hated you, brother. You always were favored by father. Even to the last breath he took, he still said your names."

"That's it?" Milanjo intercepted. "You kill our entire village because you hate your brother? What a cruel king you are."

King Herald was furious. He kicked her face until a tooth from her mouth came out.

Zachary tried to stand up to stop him, but the royal guard in the castle stopped him.

"Take them to their old house and lock them up. Let them suffer until they wish to die."

The royal guard took them and lock them up as they were told.
