23 New chapter

Damien leaned against his car with his arms crossed over his chest as he watched the touching scene of Beatrix saying goodbye to her family.

Tears streamed down her face and he felt a pang in his chest.

For some reason he hated the tears in her eyes. When he had suggested a marriage alliance he wasn't expecting to like the enemy's daughter so much but the moment he had laid eyes on her, he felt something inside him detonate, releasing a primitive yearning inside him.

His response to her was completely instinctual and he couldn't fight it. He didn't want to fight it.

These feelings were different to the ones he's had with all the other countless women over the years.

She was soft, and sweet and delicate and he wanted to devour her. She was wearing a simple

white dress, but it had been made for her curves, and as she moved, he saw the ever so gentle sway of

her wide hips and breasts.

He forcefully pried his eyes from her body, letting them focus on her face. But then something else

entirely happened. The raw lust, the unstoppable desire, the yearning seemed to all melt away.

Instead, they were replaced by a need- no, an instinct- to protect her.

To take her in his arms and hold her. There was something about her that seemed so pure and innocent, so untainted that he wanted to preserve it.

What the hell was going on with him?

He has been trained never to show or have emotions. As the leader of the biggest mafia in his country, showing emotion was a dead decree for him but this woman right there was so beautiful.

The way her eyes sparkled with innocence was enthralling.

Damien felt a wave of protectiveness flow through him as he looked at her, and he knew that he would do anything to make sure that her beautiful eyes would sparkle forever with that innocent happiness.

The moment his eyes had landed on her at the restaurant, it felt as though his cold, still heart had started beating for the first time. In all his thirty- years he had never felt anything like this.

Knowing she was this innocent he didn't want her to hate him for rushing her to marry him. He needed a few months to make her fall in love with him first and Damien was confident she would.

His lips curled up into a smile. It was only a matter of time until she was his and he couldn't wait for that day.

"If you dare hurt her, I will ruin you." Damien stared at Remo who had blocked his view and frowned.

He knew Remo was a mad man and he would actually do what he is saying no matter the consequences.

That's what made him deadly. He didn't care about the consequences or the risks involved in something.

Damien stared blankly at Remo and his lips pulled into an evil smirk.

"You know threats don't work on me, Remo. The moment I marry your sister she isn't part of your family anymore. She is under my command and protection and I will do whatever the hell I want with her."

Remo clenched his fist, "If you fuckin-"

"Words Remo. You don't want to make me angry do you? We all know who will pay for your insolence at the end of the day."

Remo turned to look at his sister who was laughing at something Ares had said and he took a deep breath to calm the storm raging inside him.

"I know about your brother too, Damien. Do you think you could keep him hidden and protected forever? If you dare hurt my sister, I mean if you touch even a strand of her hair, I will also find your brother and he will pay dearly for it. "

Damien stiffened and his face turned ashen. No one knew about Rhys. He had made sure of it. Even though they were not necessarily blood related, he loved the kid the day his father had adopted him and brought him home.

He had made a promise to his father to always protect and keep him safe. Because of that he had given him the life he could never have. A life of freedom.

"If you-"

"Huh? Tsk,tsk, you're in no position to threaten me. You know me Damien, I'm a madman and I will go to any length to protect my sister so you should listen to me. Hurt her and I will deliver your brother's body to you."

Remo patted his shoulder and walked away not giving him the chance to talk.

"Shit!" Damien cursed out loud. He took his phone out of his pocket and dialed a number.

On the third ring, the call was finally picked up.

"H-hello?" A groggy voice sounded at the other end.

"Rhys, when are you coming back home?"

Damien asked, going straight to the point.

A long silence passed before he finally replied.

"I don't know bro, but soon. Why?"

"I'm getting married soon. I want you to meet her."

"What?! You? Marriage?" Rhys bursted out into laughter at the other end of the phone.

Damien said nothing, waiting for him to realize he was serious.

"Wait, you're serious? With who?"

Damien rolled his eyes, "You would see if you come home. "

Rhys grunted in response.

"Becareful okay? Someone has found out about your identity and he is fucking psychopath I don't want him to hurt you. If you notice anything suspicious let me know."

"Stop worrying about me, Damien. I'm not a kid and you're only three years older than me. You can't act like a parent every fucking time."

"I can and I will. Stop getting into stupid troubles and come home."

"Alright alright. I have to go. Talk to you later!"

Rhys hung up the phone before he could say anything.

Damien sighed and raked his fingers through his hair.

"A-Are you okay?" A timid voice sounded behind him. He turned around and saw Beatrix.

"Yeah, are you ready to go?"

She bit her lips and nodded.

"Yeah."

Damien gave a little reassuring smile and nodded. He guessed this is it, a new interesting chapter in his life.
