When she pulled away from Damien, she watched as a huge grin filled his face, his eyes flicking with relief and happiness.

She could see how much this meant to him. It was so rare for a man to lay himself bare to a woman especially if he was the leader of one of the most dangerous mafia families in the world.

As a leader, you're not supposed to show emotion.

You're not supposed to let your guard down.

You're not supposed to let a woman control your emotions.

And most importantly you're not supposed to fall in love.

Love makes you weak.

These are some of the words that she had heard her father's man discuss while growing up.

Her brother Matteo had received the same teachings from their uncles.

Growing up she had seen her brothers turned to stoic men. It was only with her that they were allowed to show emotion. 

So seeing Damien's emotion all over his face right now made her heart swell with warmth.
