4 If the price is right, why not?

Truth be told, Jack didn't really believe that Claude is a Face Manipulator. The only reason he trusted him is because Claude was his friend, and he knew his friend pretty well. Claude would rather work his ass off to earn money rather than to ask him for money directly. Such a personality led Jack to believe that his friend would never dupe him.

However, the sight before him erased all of the doubts he had before. In fact, he even felt that Claude didn't alter his face, instead, it was a different person.

In the mirror, he didn't see his fat face, but the face he had always dreamed of having. He had eyebrows as sharp as a sword, a lean face, and a prominent jawline. Although the weight of his face is still pretty much the same, his looks became a lot more... handsome.

"This skill..." Jack muttered as he stared at the mirror, "This skill is probably the pinnacle of Face Manipulating..."

Even though his face was altered, there were no signs that it was altered. Heck, if this was done to another person and Jack saw that person, he would believe that that person's face wasn't altered.

Claude nodded, satisfied by Jack's remark.

Jack quickly placed the mirror on the table beside him and turned his head towards Claude before saying, "Bro, we could make a boatload of money from this! How about we... cooperate?"

In a small kingdom like theirs, being a Face Manipulator is a lucrative occupation. Not to mention high ranking Face Manipulators, even the lowest ranked Face Manipulator could earn roughly one thousand gold a month. That is, if they have a lot of clients.

Claude shook his head.

While browsing through the system, he found out that cooperating with another person is not allowed, and he will be punished should he do so.

Jack could only remove those thoughts after seeing that Claude wasn't interested. He laid back on the chair before saying, "I heard that Alice's birthday will be held today, are you going to attend?"

Alice was apart of their friend group, and although Alice lives in the neighboring kingdom, the three of them are quite close. Partly because her father, Augustus, was someone whom Jack's father cooperates with, and because Gus was someone whom Claude frequently worked for.

"Of course I will attend," Claude replied.

If Jack hadn't visited him and paid for his services, he still would've gone there so that he could eat food. Besides, even if Jack visited him, he would still go there nonetheless since Gus went out of his way and invited him.

"Hehe, with my new look, I think Alice would change her mind in teasing me now. In fact, I think she would even develop a crush on me." Jack said with a laugh as he imagined the scenario in his head.

Due to his looks, he was frequently teased by Alice. Even though she would always tease him in a jokingly manner, Jack eventually took her 'jokes' to heart.

After he imagined the scenario, Jack quickly realized something which made him sigh, "However, it's not like I could afford altering my face everyday."

50 Gold was indeed cheap for altering one's face, but that amount of money is already a quarter of his allowance this month.

"For someone of your status, 10 Gold is pretty cheap." Claude remarked.

Surprised, Jack turned and looked at Claude, looking for answers.

"The fifty gold is for buying the materials. You could say that altering your face is a freebie." Claude said nonchalantly.

Jack looked as though he was enlightened. Quickly, he pointed towards the Make-Up set laying on the table beside him and asked, "Then... are you going to teach me how to use these things?"

If what he thought was right, then that means that he bought the materials and not the service. In other words, there's a possibility that he could alter his face himself!

"If the price is right, then why not?" Claude said.

In the system, everything came with a price. If he were to just teach Jack his skills for free, then that means that he doesn't profit from it—profit which he will use to expand his arsenal.

"How much... do you charge?" Jack asked cautiously.

It was near the end of the month and the 200 Gold that his father gave him was running dry. If he guessed correctly, he only had about 5 Gold left.

Claude thought for a moment before replying, "Overall, there are three categories you need to choose from. Basic Level which costs a thousand gold. Elementary Level which costs a five thousand gold, and Advance Level which costs ten thousand gold."

Jack felt his body shuddering when he heard those prices. However, he quickly regained his composure.

If hiring a Face Manipulator costs tens of thousand of gold, then learning their skills for this amount of money is cheap compared to hiring one. He thought.

"What are the difference between them?" Jack asked, clearly interested.

"Well, for Basic Level, you could alter some parts of your face, for example your nose or your eyebrows. For Elementary Level, you are able to alter a number of parts in your face. Like your cheeks and jaw. For Advance Level, you could basically do what I did to your face, it's just that you would take a much longer time than I did. " Claude said

"Will you do like a ritual of some sorts to share your skills to me?" Jack asked jokingly.

"Of course not! I will manually teach you." Claude said, annoyed.

At they spoke, a knock came from the door.

"I'll get it," Jack said mischievously as he stood up from the chair.

Hearing those words, Claude could only nod and watch from the sidelines. He, too, also wondered what kind of reaction would someone have should they see Jack's face.

Calming his trembling hands and hiding toothy grin, Jack opened the wooden door. When the door was opened, he was met with a scruff looking middle-aged man, a roll of cigar hanging on his lips.

A look of surprise and incredulity flashed through the middle-aged man's face when he saw Jack. However, it was only for a brief moment before he asked, "Where's Claude?"
