The Super Mech System

As humans conquered the solar system, faster than light travel became a sought after ability to facilitate humanity’s expansion. However, upon achieving this, humans accidentally formed rips in space-time that opened up special Pocket Realms. These realms housed special planets similar to Earth, but they possessed hostile environments and dangerous, supernatural beasts with special abilities. Within each beast was a special crystal and as humans harvested these crystals, they utilised its special properties to construct the special synthetic life-form known as the ‘mech’. These mechs were nanotechnology suits, that bonded to a human host and acted as a thin, highly useful suit when activated. Technology advanced at rapid pace following this discovery, as mechs could provide humans with oxygen in low oxygen environments, heal injuries, amplify speed and strength by hundreds of times and much more. Humans soon created the genetic score that represented how easily a mech would bond to them as a host and how effective that symbiotic relationship would be. Those with higher genetic scores were lauded and rewarded for their talents, while those who weren’t as lucky were forced to settle at the bottom of society. Born into a small, working-class family, Alonso was born with an appalling genetic score of 0.11. As a result, he lived on mech-less, even past the Mech Adoption Age of 14, because it was too dangerous to let his body bond to a mech. However, he, gains a unique power, the super mech system. No longer powerless, he can now accomplish his dream of becoming a mech combatant! Although, he must navigate the challenges and obstacles of the insanely competitive mech combatant academy.

Alonso's True Power

Alonso punched him right in his face then dipped lower, driving up with an uppercut to his gut. His punch dropped him to his knees, and the green mech user watched this happen, stunned.

"You thought you could take my crystals and get away with it?! I'll make sure to make you all feel pain that you could ever feel!" Alonso said, towering over his fallen opponent.

Revealing his shorter dagger, he used his heat slash to cut right into his chest. His flesh sizzled and he screamed out from the pain. He fell onto his back, holding his chest in agony, then Alonso stormed past him onto his next target.

The green mech user sped toward him and attempted to kick him in his head, but he utilised his turbo boosters to blow by him. His attack flew past him without landing on the target, and Alonso landed a hook to his body, aimed specifically on his liver.

The blow crippled him, and he struggled to even breathe as his liver rattled in his ribcage. Subsequently, he whipped his mecha arm forward, repeatedly striking him until he fell onto the floor and didn't look to be raising up.

Alonso lifted then walked over to Max, who was still stunned from the first hit he'd received.

Pow!

Alonso's next strike dropped him onto the floor, then he roared as he continuously punched him. His attacks met no resistance, and he revealed his vice even to the extreme heat then Max coughed out blood and a tooth.

He just smiled after seeing his face, then dropped down to his level to stare at him.

"Now you look just like I do." Alonso said, revealing his vice to show off his face that was covered in blood.

Looking at the state of Max, he couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Look at you. You thought you were strong, but you lost to a weakling that only just got his mech a few months ago!" Alonso said, laughing.

However, he stopped laughing and pulled down his vice again to kick him in his open face.

Krak!

His nose had been bent in a very awkward manner, then Alonso just strolled over to Hunter, who seemed to be holding their crystals.

There was a large container attached to the legs of his mech, and he just used the force of his mecha arm to rip them off completely.

He smiled after hearing the soft jingle of the hard crystals within, before raising up.

"Cheers for the crystals guys." Alonso said, before blasting away.

'W-what are you?' Max asked internally, looking at his receding back.

[Quest Complete!]

[+150XP]

Alonso looked back to the fallen warrior and didn't reply. He just chuckled, and sped away.

In his run, Alonso gave this floating panel a glance and smiled in his advance.

'Great.' He said internally, before continuing his run.

With the two containers in his hands, he wondered what would happen if he was to try and place them into his system.

'System! Place these containers into the system.' He commanded.

Much to his delight, the containers enveloped in blue light and vanished, entering his inventory.

[Item: Container of Crystals] [Slots: 6]

[Item: Container of Crystals] [Slots: 4]

[Free Slots: 0]

Using containers, he had managed to increase the maximum number of things he could keep in his inventory. His two items were holding much more than 10 crystals but only took up 10 slots.

He returned to the military base and headed to the large mech repairing warehouse. It was fuelled by large solar panels that captured the vast amounts of energy blasted down from Kernei's star.

There were several mech parts on display, and mechanical devices that would descend onto a mech to charge it up and repair it. Alonso decided to get his mech repaired, and stood on an open platform within this factory.

It was circular and lifted him upon feeling his weight. Robotic arms descended down, latching on thick black wires to his mech. Other mechanical heads with finer, thinner appendages were at work, repairing his mech.

The thickness of the appendages were too small for the naked eye to pick up, as it was working on the individual nanotechnology cells within the mech.

"You took a while, Alonso." Luciano said, turning back to him, while making sure to not turn his body too much.

Mechs tensed up during this procedure to make sure miniature damage wouldn't occur because even just the slightest nudge could cause unwanted damage.

"Yeah, I just took some time to think." Alonso replied, smiling.

"Makes sense after what happened. We got pummelled by those guys." Michael said, joking.

He was laughing but Alonso could hear the pain in his voice.

Luciano just laughed as well, as his eyes dropped to the floor.

'Don't worry guys. It's only a matter of time before I'm as strong as all of those people! I'll avenge you all and raze this sick hierarchy to the ground!' Alonso declared, attempting to clench his fists.

However, a warning sound blared out from the mechanical arms as he tried moving his mech.

'Oh darn it.' Alonso cursed out, releasing the pressure on his solidified mech.

Following this repair, Alonso rushed over to the crystal counting station to give in his crystals. He was surprised to find that the two containers provided his team with an extra 25 crystals.

'That's insane! We might even place near twentieth now!' Alonso thought, walking out of the building.

The following day soon came and Alonso's happened to not run into any threats. The surrounding area had been wiped clean of beasts, and they weren't raided by any other squads. Amassing about 30 extra crystals from the likes of scoundrel djinn and other weak beasts, their final crystals had been counted and so had everyone else's.

It was coming to their final day of hunting beasts in this realm, and the final values were getting tallied.

Inside the canteen, a large hologram had been projected above Mr Piedrabuena's head.

"Thanks students for your hard work and dedication. We are pleased with the talent you all possess, and the final results have been decided. Here are the rankings." He said, turning back to the billboard.

Slightly over 30 different teams were displayed, and Alonso's team had been placed at 23rd.

"23rd?! Did we really have that many points?" Luciano asked, looking at the billboard more closely.

Michael inspected the billboard with a squint, also in disbelief.

"I got some crystals after we got beat by Max. Just some scoundrel djinn and stuff." Alonso said.

"Oh right, that makes sense, then. Why didn't you tell us?" Michael asked.

"It's not that important, is it? What else would I have been doing, anyway?"

"That's true." Luciano replied.

The students were given their final breakfast in this beautiful realm and they were to head back to Earth in mere hours. Many students had their last venture throughout the city of Acnei, but Alonso and his friends decided to stay within the dormitory.

Alonso had no desire to enter the city again, while his friends had no more money to spend. It would annoy them to not be able to buy anything that they would end up seeing.

At around 11pm, the students had been rounded up at the helipad near the centre of the military station.

The same aircraft that had carried them before arrived, picking them all up. Just like before, everyone had their mechs activated and were strapped down to their seat by tough, strong seatbelts.

In mere minutes, they arrived at an FTL Outpost and after a few more minutes, they arrived at the coast of Sago.

It didn't take long before the students were all back in Aegis Mech Academy, their school, and they all returned to their humble abodes.

The students were exhausted after days of intense exercise, and the fact that it was midnight only worsened their fatigue.

Alonso crashed into his bed and fell soundly asleep shortly after.

The following day, Alonso's day continued as usual, with lectures and training in the training tower. Many people felt annoyed that they had returned to their ordinary lives, but Alonso didn't care.

Mere months ago, his new life would've been a dream for him. He was perfectly sound with ordinary.

Walking past Maximillian in one of the school halls, he gave him a quick glance before straightening his gaze. He walked like a robot and had a slight tremor to his movements.

'Why am I scared of that Del Valle weakling?' He asked himself, clenching his fist.

Alonso stopped walking and looked back to Max, slightly confused about his actions. He then smiled after realising why he acted in that way.

'He's really that scared after I beat him up? Funny.' Alonso thought, chuckling as he walked along.

The other students even gave him glances too, and some students looked scared while others were unbothered. Word had gotten around that he had beaten Max quite quickly somehow.

Alonso wondered how that was the case. He could hear several people whispering and he heard his name along with Max's name in their statements.

Max had too large of an ego to reveal that he had been defeated by him. It was puzzling, but Alonso didn't think much about it. Whether students spread rumours about him or not wasn't going to influence his progress toward his goal.
