"From Willpower to Laziness: Mateus's Unexpected Journey"

Among the many virtues that exist, willpower is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful.

Those blessed with it can have bright futures. This virtue is so powerful that even those without talent can achieve great feats. And it's no different for Mateus; even without the best talents, he strives to get into a good college after finishing school.

His effort isn't merely a product of simple willpower. In fact, he's a fan of anime, manga, and novels. This interest led him to study because there's a rumor in that world that people are rewarded with powers based on their achievements (a rumor from his imagination). So, for a long time (not really that long), he works hard to gain a system that rewards all his efforts and accomplishments.

Now obsessed with studies, he's in a frenzy, revising everything that will be on the entrance exam he's going to take. Due to neglecting his health for studies, he's capable of studying until exhaustion. Eventually, his body would respond to the physical strain. Because of the wear and tear, he faints on his study desk.

After being unconscious for a good while, Mateus wakes up and, in a daze, sees a screen in front of him.

"Welcome to the Super Lazy System."

"Huh?"

Confusion. The only thing Mateus could feel now is confusion.

"Wait. Super lazy system? Why did I get a system with the premise of laziness?"

"Host, before thinking this is a useless system, listen first to the story of this system."

A long time ago, on unspecified dates, there was a system that rewarded its hosts with powers equal to their willpower or achievements. However, one after another, all the hosts had one thing in common: they lacked ambition. They only wished to have powers without making any effort to earn them.

So, host after host, a system that initially rewarded those who worked hard also lost the will to have an ambitious host. Gradually, what was once a system of pride became a system that rewarded its hosts with great powers despite their few accomplishments. So, after some generations of lazy hosts, this system became the Super Lazy System.

"So, you're the chosen one this time, host. This system is a bit different from what you might imagine from a system."

Curious, Mateus asked the system

"So, how does it work, system?"

"Quite simply, host. To gain power, you need to achieve something, have strong willpower, or possess great ambition. The power you gain may or may not be related to your achievement."

"And what about the part of being a lazy system?" Mateus asked.

"Being a lazy system means you can gain power simply by getting out of bed early."

Mateus, at a loss for words to describe his feelings about this system, thinks he used up all the luck of his entire life because gaining power just by getting out of bed seems overly advantageous, doesn't it?
