Laura touched.....

Episode 1

Laura touched her stomach which was getting bigger each passing day and smiled wanely. she was six months gone and heavy with her babies.

she looked at her husband as he caressed her hands reassuringly and smilled at him. They were both on their way to do what her husband had considered the right thing. She looked down at her stomach again as different thoughts clouded her mind.

"what if he wasn't capable of protecting her and the unborn babies from his wife?"

Yeah her husband has a wife.. the devil incarnate, Rosita and for some reasons, he had proposed to herand they had gotten married secretly without anyone's knowledge. That wasn't also a problem as she had no relative alive. Her distant uncle had tossed her out of his house when she was seventeen. She had striven to get out of all school all alone. Then few years later after graduating from high school, she got a job at her husband's as his personal secretary.

Things had gone smoothly between them for years until he popped up the question one afternoon. She had learnt that his family which had been painted perfect to the outside world was exactly the opposite.

After some weeks they had both signed some documents which pronounced them man and wife.

Everything had been done in a jiffy in order not to raise suspicions from anyone, not even her colleagues.

Ever since her marriage to her husband, everything had changed completely for good. He had bought an Aisle at the outskirt of the city to keep her safe from the clutches of the demon he got married to in the early days of his life.

"Everything would be fine" he assured again and kissed her lightly. Laura stared into the calm blues and nodded gently. She had signed up for this and there was no going back...not after she had her babies.

The car came to a halt. Laura watched as the guards carried out their normal procedures which included getting their stuffs out of the car and helping her out of their own ride.

"Honey" her husband called as they entwined their hands and walked into the Lawyers' office. He had informed them of the important meeting and as expected, they had both turned in waiting for their arrival.

"Mr Chadwick!" his lawyer called as they both shook hands.

"you're welcome!" they exchanged pleasantries curtly and all sat heavily.

"shall we proceed?" .....

Rosita stared cunnily at her husband. She could almost feel it, touch it, taste it... his end was near. He would soon be out of her way and she would get the freedom she longed for, for thirty years.she had planned and awaited this day.

"Ice?" he asked as he filled their glasses.

"You know i don't take ice honey" she answered sweetly and took the drink from him while he dropped some ice cubes into his. Zachary looked at his wife, almost bewildered. Since when did she become sweet?

He brushed off the thought and took a sip from his drink.

"You wanted us to have a conversation" Zachary stated with a stern face.

"Yeah... yeah I want us to talk but can we do that upstairs?" she asked pointing towards their bedroom.

Zachary stared at the content in his cup and wondered for some minutes why there was a sudden change of plans. She had told him there was an important issue to ralk about and he had gotten there only to be entertained.

"Alright" he answered and gulped down his drink. Both climbed the stairs in few minutes. Rosita rushed towards the door, opened it ajar and gestured to her husband to go into the room.

Zachary felf himself getting lightheaded and held the wall for support.

"Rosita!" he called as strength sipped out of him...

"You witch!!" he yelled as Rosita barked out a laugh. She launched at him and pushed him roughly into the room. She watched in glee as he struggled to keep his balance.

"Dear husband!" she started with a mocking smile and locked the door firmly.

"I hate you Zachary!!" she spitted out with a great force which almost shook her.

"I have always hated you, despised everything around" she continued ... "You took away my happiness, you took away the world from me, YOU forced me into marrying you and......."

"I never wanted you!!" Even in his state, Zachary managed to yell back at her.

"You had the choice to cancel the wedding but you never did because of your selfish desires" Rosita fired back. she had bottled her feelings for years and it was finally the time to unleash them.

"I never wanted you" Zachary stated calmly. "You and I know that I married you for my mother" He paused as he held the bed.

"All i ever did was to please my mother... you know i live for her... you know how much i worship her....."

"Enough!" she barked sharply

"That witch poisoned my mother's heart into believing you were the best man for me"

" Don't you dare!" Zachary groaned and fell onto the bed. He was suddenly becoming helpless.

"Who cares?" Rosita shrugged.

"Well i've got to tell you thag my boys are not yours" she announced and watched Zachary grunt.

"They belong to the love of my life and your supposed bestfriend Tony!!" She paused and watched his reactions.

"Watch how we both take over what you and your built over the years from the other side"

"You're... mistaken... Rosita" Zachary managed to reply.

"I know about you, Tony and the kids and i've got a lot of surprises for you all"

He smiled through pain and looked at his wife.

"Newsflash for you devil, our divorce papers was among the documents you signed last week.

He paused and gasped for breath.

Rosita stood watching her husband in astonishment. Her games were coming back right at her.

"You will have nothing from my wealth even if i'm dead!"

"Let's see about that" she answered, opened the door and slammed the door. He had fifteen more minutes to live.

Rosita stood panting like a wounded lion. Zachary had truly surprised her. She was shocked to the bone when his Will was read out. Zachary had stated that she take her hands off every of his property. His wealth had been willed to someone else.

She glanced around trying to think of a possible clue. The lawyers sure know who his wealth was willed to but had refused to disclose it to anyone not even Tony his deputy.

To their dismay, Zachary had truly made Rosita sign the divorce papers cunningly and requested that Tony step down from his office three days after his transition.

She needed to act fast and know who he willed every of his property.

"Had Zachary done something silly like getting married to someone else?" she wondered.

....

Laura looked out of the window as tears slid down her face. Her husband's death had been unexpected.

"You have to be strong for your babies" her personal maid consoled as they both wept together.

Laura had refused to take anything for more than twenty-four hours.

"If not for yourself, please take something for the babies" her maid.

"I can't" she replied tearfully.

"Your babies have been starving. You can't keep doing this" she tried agaun.

"Alright"

Laura looked at the meal Nina had prepared tearfully.

She picked up her cutlery and dropped it abruptly when they both heard a thud. She looked up questioningly.

Nina stood quickly and looked out into the night.

Despite the dim light, she could see armed men taking out their guards.

"I think she found out about you!" Nina announced fearfully

"What?" Laura sprang to her to her feet

"You've got to hide"

"Hide?.... Where can i possibly hide like this" she asked gesturing to her stomach.

"Then do something else before they find you here!"

Laura rushed into the master bedroom, her big stomach was making her slow down.

She picked some of her clothes and some wads of notes.

There was a tunnel in the room which leads into the woods. She had explored it with Zachary a couple of times. She felt her shoulder shake as the unknown men yell at Nina.

Finally, she was able to open the trapdoor. Laura looked around fearfully, hoping she hadn't left a trace.

She let down herself slowly and closed the trapdoor.

"What was that?" she heard them ask and moved farther.

She walked farther into the woods, the darkness making it impossible for her to walk fast.

Determined not to stop, Laura continued into the woods. Better in the woods than being killed by Rosita's men. She would do everything to protect her children from the clutches of Rosita.

Suddenly, she felt water running down her legs and wondered why she had peed on herself unconsciously.

The thought of having her babies in the woods all by herself made her heart race wildly.

"oh! not now please" Laura groaned as pain surged through her.

"You have to listen to me.... this is not the right place" she wailed as another pangs of pain hit her.

"You can do this" her subconscious mind scolded

"Okay!"

She made a small bedding with the clothes she brought along.

"One, two three" she cried as she sat slowly and, pushed with a heavy force. Even in her state, Laura could notice a glowing light around her.

"What the hell ....."

"ah!!!" she pushed with all her might ignoring every other thing.

"yes! ah!!" she cried as she felt a head.
