Tried and tired of going against the marriage, Seraphina finally succumbed and accepted the proposal to marry the Lord's son under a secret agreement which was between them, the future couple. Adventure or Job Hunting?

The town was bustling with people and activities when Seraphina and Lucy arrived. Everyone was busy tending to their various businesses. It made it look like there was a feast going on.

Seraphina's heart shuddered at the thought that very soon a big feast awaited her. The problem here was that this big feast was not the type she was or will ever look forward to.

Seraphina closely walked beside Lucy trying to use her as a shield so she won't be noticed either by her parents or one of their servants. But no matter the sea of people that surrounded her, she will still be recognized at a glance because of her snow-white skin that distinguished her from others.

It was a mystery how she had snow-white skin whereas, her parents had a darker skin tone.

People, especially men will always stare at her like they were doing now, each time she walked past them. The town's Belle they had nicknamed her and everybody wanted to get acquainted with her.

Her friend Lucy was not bad when it came to looks. Her green eyes that held so much mischievousness and her short wavy black hair were enough to attract the men and also the opposite genders.

Like how Seraphina and Lucy walked side by side now, earning them the stares of so many people, that was how they earned the jealous looks of the ladies who wished to have everything they possessed.

"Lucy," Seraphina called her friend who was taking long strides so they can quickly reach their destination.

"Yes?" Lucy answered.

"What kind of job did you find?" Seraphina inquired in a whisper as if afraid her parents were there to hear her.

"Uhm…" Lucy nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders "I don't know yet. I overheard someone speak about it."

"What? Lucy!" Seraphina shrieked in a hushed tone.

Lucy waved her hand with a mischievous laugh, "Don't fret, Phina." she paused and turned her head, and whispered into Seraphina's ear, "I am not going sell you even though you'll make quite a lot of money." Lucy grinned at her with a sly smile on her face.

Seraphina held a gobsmacked expression on her face as she stared at Lucy. After a while she found her voice to speak. She questioned, "You said the work has good pay?"

"I did?" Lucy returned her question with her brows curved in confusion as if she had no idea what Seraphina was talking about.

"Come on, Phina. We are only going to check out the job. You have not started it yet. So calm your beating heart."

Seraphina kept mute and glared at Lucy.

"That's right. Have you heard the latest gossip?" Lucy immediately changed the topic eager to spill the news she heard to her best friend.

Seraphina rolled her eyes "I am not a gossiper,"

"Hmmph," Lucy harrumphed "Who said you aren't one? Me telling you everything I see and hear..." she paused and pointed at Seraphina and then at herself. She continued to say, "We are both gossipers, best friend."

Seraphina stared at Lucy for a while and sighed, "I wonder how your brain works sometimes."

Lucy grinned and sharply retorted, "You should have known by now that it functions both clockwise and anticlockwise." Words never failed her when it came to exchanging words with anyone.

"I heard Lady Zelda was recently turned into a vampire by her husband-to-be." Lucy decided to fill Seraphina in on what she heard. Though Seraphina did as if she didn't want to hear her gossip, she knew her friend was eager to hear everything and even more.

"Really? Why?"

"I thought you said you are not a gossiper?" Lucy spoke with a knowingly look.

"Well…I'm still not a gossiper. I was only asking you questions based on what you told me. So…" Seraphina quickly defended herself.

"You're unbelievable, Phina." Lucy shook her head and chuckled.

"As I was saying. You know she's getting married to a very high and influential family. I heard her in-laws-to-be refused to accept her because she's a human. So she had to accept their proposal of turning into a vampire."

"Oh my, that's more like forcing her to turn into a vampire. I can not even imagine the grossness of it all." Seraphina spoke in a disgusted tone and a horrified look on her face.

"Well, you can say that, but as I speak, Lady Zelda is happily flaunting her new fangs and red eyes."

Seraphina sighed, "Maybe it is what she wanted all along. To become a vampire."

"You can say it is the love she has for her husband-to-be that made her make the decision." Lucy responded with a small laugh "You should avoid her once you see her from now on."

"Why should I do that? Turning into a vampire, does it give a crown on her head?" Seraphina questioned in an irritated tone.

She hated the idea of vampires being placed at the top of the hierarchy. What did the vampires have that humans did not have? She will question herself each time she thought about it.

That was some weird stupid laws the vampires called tradition that the older generations had placed, and now the younger generation had turned a blind eye and was still foolishly following the same step.

Lucy negatively shook her head and corrected, "That's not what I'm implying, Phina."

"Then what do you mean?"

Lucy cast a side look at Seraphina and said, "Don't tell me you're angry because of the traditions of the older generation."

"Those are not traditions, they are…"

"Fine, fine, it's okay. I understand you." Lucy raised her hand in surrender. She knew how her friend can go all the way to argue about the traditions she called stupid laws.

Lucy continued to say, "What I was just saying is, you should avoid her now she's a vampire because newly turned vampires can be bad at controlling their thirst for blood."

"Oh, why didn't you say so earlier? I became annoyed for nothing." Seraphina lightly smacked Lucy's arms which she returned with an equally hard hit on Seraphina's hand.

"You didn't let me finish speaking before you jumped in to chop my ears off."

Seraphina glared at Lucy. She said, "Lady Zelda or whatever, can't touch me or even think of drinking my blood. I mean, I'm not even friends with her. So meeting her is only by chance."

"More reasons why I said you should avoid crossing paths with her. She might consider drinking from her friends, but you? She will happily do that to the last drop of your blood." Lucy chuckled in amusement seeing the disgusted look on Seraphina's face. She enjoyed poking her so she could see this type of expression on her face.

Seraphina scoffed and replied, "She can try, I'll use holy water on her"

Lucy stared at her friend with a smile and asked, "You hate vampires so much. What if your arranged husband and family are vampires?"

"Mind you, I don't hate vampires. It's just their stupid laws that I hate." Seraphina replied with a wave of her hand. "Let's not talk about that now. Even if he is a vampire, I'm not marrying him. So let's find a job and cancel this so-called marriage."

"Are we not there yet?" She asked Lucy whose attention was drawn to a fight going on in one of the shops at the far end from where they were. "We've walked a long distance since we came out and I want to do this quickly before my parents return home."

"Lucy, did you hear what I asked you?" Seraphina called and shook the lady who did not answer her question.

Lucy slowed her steps before finally stopping in front of the shop where the fight was going on. Seraphina also stopped with a horrified look.

She pulled Lucy aside and questioned, "What are you doing? Why did we have to stop here? Didn't you see the fight going on? Do you want us to get hurt? I'm talking to you, Lucy!"

Lucy turned to look at Seraphina with a sly smile "I heard all your whinings, Phina." She paused and stared at the men who were smashing their fists on each other's faces.

"We are here," Lucy announced in an excited voice waiting to witness another drama from Seraphina.

Just as she expected, Seraphina shrieked in a loud voice.

"What?! Tell me you're joking, Lucy!"

Lucy shrugged, "Well, I'm not. This is the place. What else did you think it was?"

Seraphina pressed her forehead in frustration and anger that was slowly building up in her body.

Her eyes peered down at Lucy as if she will strangle her friend. She clenched her hand and spoke with gritted teeth, "I asked you to help me find a decent job and not a wrestling job!"
