15 [The mage of Kobold Demons]

knock, knock, knock..!

After three consecutive knocks on the door, the manager (puppeteer) Unlocked the door. Walking in he saw the man Levi intended to give the letter to.

Abruptly, the manager let out a subtle cough, dazing the middle-aged man from his woolgathering. "Huff, Jack. was I asleep again?"

The manager gave a disorganized facade, was he asleep? I mean his eyes were opened but he was also snoring. Maybe he has an open-eye sleeping sickness. "Sir, I can't tell for sure if you were asleep or not, it-"

"Nevermind Jack, I was asleep", Mr McConnell leaned forward as he placed his hands on his desk occupied neatly with books and letters. "At this old age, I need someone strong enough to take over the Guild.. still haven't seen anyone worthy of the title"

With no further Ado, Jack saunters nigher and outstretched the letter. Altering McConnell's gaze from the neverending sound of the pendulum bob. "Sir..! The person who brought this letter"

"How much did he pay?", questioned Mr McConnell.

Swallowed, Jack gulped as if the room was getting unusually hot. "he.. he did not have money to pay sir"

"what? And you brought me his letter?", declared the middle-aged man with a cold demeanor as he studied Jack with those brown eyes of his.

Jack sucked up his pride, he had made a deal with Levi.. and he lost like a child. "He defeated me, sir"

Mr McConnell's once cold demeanor altered to that of a child who just found out his favorite hero is a Virgin. Unexpectedly, he reaches out for the letter and asks if Jack has seen what's inside.

But to his surprise, Jack replied: "I couldn't sir.. it seems to be concealed with mana spell. I believe only you can see what's inside"

As Jack had recapitulate, he was right. Although it took McConnell a bit of time to open the letter, when he did, he felt the escape of mana leaving the letter. And the blank letter abruptly glowed as the words materialized.

The guild Master's eyes flared, only to be intensified by the words written inside the letter. He glanced at Jack with a raised eyebrow. "Don't tell me you let him leave without a signature"

Jack smiled at such a statement coming from one whose signature could take lives.

Meanwhile...

Acknowledging the fact he couldn't sense any presence of lie or deceitfulness from the elf's demeanor. Levi chuckles and his dagger vanishes out of sight.

"So I died along with this world, and that's how you knew I was coming for you"

The elf sat down, being in the presence of a sworn enemy is one thing, but now she has warned him of a disastrous future. "Yes, that's how I also knew you would send your Armies to destroy my people"

Levi brushed that off and turned to have his leave, it appears what he came for is at the hands of some other Elf. But he was abruptly stopped by the elf who walked to his front with the broken pieces of her sword pointing at Levi's gutter.

"You've tried that before", said the MC, his facade portraiting that of a killer.

"You'll not get the shadow core, you're evil and wicked.. did you know how many lives and innocent children you slaughtered?"

All the while, Levi and the bartender kept quiet as she spoke with a muffled voice. "Everyone died because of your greediness and wicked heart you have"

"If you don't let me have my leave, you might not see your death coming"

"Go on, I'm not scared... Do you want to be a Villain? I hope you die and I hope whatever future you saw was your death"

The bartender was getting inconvenienced by this whole situation. 'What a day to work'

"We both seek different things, but right now we seek the same thing; you want revenge and I want to annihilate the human race, but right now, we both want the shadow core"

"hmph.. if you're thinking I would team up with a monster, then you're wrong"

"Your people were killed by my army, do you think you stand a chance against someone that brutal, if you don't follow with that deal.."

Levi gestured the broken sword off his guts and leaned for a whisper. "I can extract souls from the underworld, your loyalty equals the extraction of your entire race"

The elf shivered, the deal was as heavy as the surprise. "But if you follow the path of revenge, not only would you end up creating one, you'll also be the target of many more"

A morsel of tears fell from the eyes of the elf, she abruptly threw the broken blade off her grip. And Levi walked past her with a smile, however, he was stopped by the voice of the elf who conveyed bad news.

"wait..! Whoever is Gypsy.., she's in trouble. I'm guessing she's one of your pawns"

———

Summing up to the terror Cassandra and Leon felt, an unequivocal number of kobolds materialized within the boundaries of the demon. As if protecting it and whatever it was he carries.

As seconds passed, one of the kobolds began sniffing out with its elongated nose, as if perceiving some unknown present.

On the other side...

"Your plan sucks, Leon. Just distract the demon with the device and we make a run for it"

Gypsy kept eyes on the two figures as they argued, unaware of the fact that three kobolds were looking at them as they planned.

"Kweuk ah Kweuk", muttered a kobold with a blade reaching the skull of Cassandra.

"What the hell"..!

With an explicable laden cry and fury of limbs, Cassandra directed a devasting uppercut at the jaw of Kobold, sending it miles away from them but quickly recovered.

"where's the one with the box..!", yelled Leon and got a fitting reply from Cassandra.

"Just place Your head in the situation for once"

Gypsy, given the fact that they were surrounded by the red monsters having the recessive trait of long ears and nose with the portrait of a dwarf's height, had to create room for them to fight.

Hence, Gypsy ran up to the huge block and leaped with... giving her a high boost, as she came soaring down with her legs.

With a devasting Booom', her legs clashed with the head of a kobold, smashing it inside the ground as a crater was formed with a purple liquor encompassing the kobold's reality.

For Leon, a kobold leaped at him with a vivid sinister grin, "Kweuk ah Kweuk", the kobold yelled cursed words and vertically slashed his blade.

Exhorting Leon to dash at the kobold, sidestepping the attack, and covering the face of the demon with his palm... resounding that environment with a resounding Baaam'... Leon smashed the head of the kobold to the ground, splattering rocks with his amazing display of resilience.

The three of them fought as hard as they could, but the kobold just kept on coming, that's when Leon realized the grim reality. "It's that guy, he must be some kind of a magician"

Straight ahead was a kobold on a black tattered robe casting spells from three purple portals, these portals were responsible for the endless wave of kobold monsters. Overall, they were surrounded by vicious monsters who wanted nothing but to slice and dice them limb by limb.

'Come on Dad... I know you're coming, but hurry', thought Levi's daughter.

In such a dire situation, as the backs of the three collided from all the backing, Leon sniffs as if wanting to cry.

"Before we die, I need to.. to tell you guys something", Cassandra rolled her eyes thinking Leon was about to say something stupid.

"I-i'm sorry I dragged you guys into this mess.."

As the trio thought of this moment as their last, a sound of shattered glass was heard from the sky, and out of that shattered clouds was one angry Dad.

"Dad..!"
