Chapter 39 - Nagato Battle - 1

Three more days had passed since the battle between Yahiko and Musa.

During these three days, Asahi and his disciples had been tirelessly searching for their final target.

Yahiko, after three days of adjustment, had successfully regained his composure. Although Musa's image was etched in his mind, the heavy emotions from before were now gone.

Today marked their last mission before departing.

The trio appeared solemn, especially Nagato. This mission targeted his adversary, and he was determined not to let Asahi down. 

Nagato was focused, eager to defeat his opponent, believing in his own strength.

As they approached a familiar setting, a ninja blocked their path, frowning as he observed them. His gaze shifted to Asahi and the others in the distance, deepening his frown.

"Why are you blocking my way, kid?" Nagato questioned, staring seriously at Ichiso Kaguya.

"Are you Ichiso Kaguya, the top ninja of the Kaguya clan from Kirigakure?" Nagato continued, using the name instead of Ichiso Kaguya.

Hearing Nagato call out his name, Ichiso Kaguya realized the confrontation was inevitable. Battling had become unavoidable, and Nagato seemed ready for it.

"Bone Pulse Release, Dance of the Willow!"

Ichiso Kaguya swiftly approached Nagato, bones protruding from his limbs, forming sharp bone blades that attacked Nagato relentlessly.

Nagato, aware of Ichiso Kaguya's personality from the gathered information, was not surprised. 

He swiftly executed a simple Body Flicker Jutsu, leaving the original spot and preparing to launch a ninjutsu attack from a distance.

While Nagato was forming hand seals, Ichiso Kaguya, undeterred, leaped towards him.

"Fire Release, Flame Bullet!"

A burst of flames engulfed Ichiso Kaguya, seemingly overcoming him. However, Nagato remained vigilant, continuing to form hand seals for the next jutsu.

Indeed, Ichiso Kaguya, struck by the Flame Bullet, showed no signs of harm.

At this moment, he was enveloped in hardened bones, advancing towards Nagato without losing speed.

While Ichiso Kaguya was still in transit, Nagato had already prepared his second ninjutsu attack.

"Water Release, Water Dragon Bullet!"

Once again, Nagato's ninjutsu successfully struck Ichiso Kaguya. 

Although it still caused no harm due to the bone armor protecting him, the earlier exposure to the Flame Bullet had heated the external bone armor, resulting in a visible crack after the impact of the Water Dragon Bullet. 

Additionally, the force of the water attack slowed Ichiso Kaguya's speed.

However, Ichiso Kaguya paid no mind, as he was closing in on Nagato.

"Bone Pulse Release, Dance of the Camellia!"

A short distance from Nagato, Ichiso Kaguya swiftly unsheathed his spinal bone. Holding it like a sword, he slashed towards Nagato.

In response, Nagato quickly formed hand seals, executing "Earth Release, Earth Flow Wall!"

An instant later, an earthen wall emerged in front of Nagato, blocking Ichiso Kaguya's attack. Unfortunately, the Earth Flow Wall could only resist Ichiso Kaguya for a brief moment.

In the next second, the once sturdy wall shattered.

Holding the bone blade, Ichiso Kaguya relentlessly struck towards Nagato.

Thunk~

As Nagato was hit, he instantly transformed into a white smokescreen.

It turned out that just a second ago, Nagato successfully employed the Shadow Clone Jutsu, concealing his true self.

Observing the smoke where his clone had been struck, Ichiso Kaguya grinned, a slightly twisted expression on his face.

"Kid, you sure know how to dodge. Can we have a proper fight, damn it?"

Unfazed, Nagato continued with his strategy.

"Earth Release, Beheading from the Mind!"

Being an upper-tier ninja, especially of the Kaguya clan known for their combative nature, Ichiso Kaguya quickly sensed the impending danger. 

Without hesitation, he instinctively struck his own position.

Thunk~

As expected, a smokescreen rose, and Nagato's Shadow Clone, ready to execute the Beheading from the Mind, was dispersed by Ichiso Kaguya.

In the distance, Nagato, still concealed, remained undisturbed, patiently awaiting the next opportunity.

Observing Nagato vanish after the attack, Ichiso Kaguya couldn't help but feel agitated.

Swinging his bone blade, he relentlessly attacked the surrounding land and trees, attempting to force Nagato out.

However, it had no effect; Nagato continued to hide in the shadows, occasionally using Shadow Clones to execute a jutsu or two, disrupting Ichiso Kaguya.

Although Nagato's actions didn't cause any substantial harm, it left Ichiso Kaguya frustrated. He couldn't stand Nagato's relentless, flea-like attacks, not only agitating him but also failing to provide the satisfying, full-on battle his intense desire craved.

As time passed, Ichiso Kaguya grew increasingly agitated, feeling a surge of wildness taking over.

Nagato, noticing this, saw an opportunity!

As Ichiso Kaguya relentlessly attacked the surroundings, Nagato swiftly formed hand seals.

In the brief moment when Ichiso Kaguya looked his way, Nagato revealed his form.

"Genjutsu, Fox's Mind Technique."

The enraged Ichiso Kaguya, who had been attacking furiously just moments ago, instantly halted his movements.

While the Fox's Mind Technique wasn't a high-level genjutsu, Ichiso Kaguya's enraged state made it challenging for him to regain composure quickly.

Thus, this seemingly simple genjutsu, under the critical conditions of Ichiso Kaguya's mental state, exerted tremendous power, leaving him unable to break free from the illusion and regain consciousness.

Seeing Ichiso Kaguya controlled by the genjutsu, Nagato swiftly created three Shadow Clones.

With the original, there were now four individuals, all rapidly forming hand seals.

"Water Release, Water Dragon Bullet!"

"Fire Release, Fire Dragon Flame Bullet!"

"Earth Release, Earth Dragon Bullet!"

In an instant, the three Shadow Clones executed three distinct ninjutsu.

The three dragon-shaped jutsu, seemingly coming to life, rushed towards Ichiso Kaguya, creating a spectacle of three dragons playing with a castle.

One by fire, one by water, consecutive strikes hit Ichiso Kaguya's bone armor, creating numerous cracks.

Under the relentless assault of the Earth Dragon Bullet, the cracks grew larger and more numerous.

Crack~

Finally, with a crisp sound, Ichiso Kaguya's bone armor completely shattered.

The remaining force of the Earth Dragon Bullet mercilessly struck Ichiso Kaguya.

Intense pain instantly jolted Ichiso Kaguya awake.

Unfortunately, what followed wasn't Ichiso Kaguya's retaliation, but Nagato's heartless ninjutsu.

"Lightning Release, False Darkness!"
