2 The Only Purple Soul

As he opened his eyes, Adrian found himself in what seemed to be a room made out of a yellow fluffy material.

After he remembered seeing the Grim Reaper, Adrian dismissed thoughts that he could currently be dreaming.

Adrian stood up from where he lay before walking towards the window. Looking through it, he saw the vast darkness of space with millions of stars glowing brightly in the distance.

"So this is what it feels like to be dead," He muttered, scratching his head as he kept staring at the darkness in front of him.

No matter how Adrian looked at it, there was only one difference between him being dead and being alive and the difference was if he was alive he would've been gasping for air.

Ignorant about whether he was moving or floating on a spot, Adrian sighed before closing his eyes.

He was partly sure that this was neither heaven nor hell since it didn't match how it was described on Social media when he was alive.

Walking away from the window, Adrian looked around the tightly shut room for a while until his eyes fell on his body.

Currently, his body didn't have the pale white pigment coupled with the green snake-like veins sprawled on it but a healthy one with a light purple aura around him.

"So this is how my hands would've looked if I was healthy," Adrian said as he examined his skin for a while before ignoring it.

"Is this some kind of soul-grading stuff like I read in a Web novel?" With his attention drawn by the strange aura around his body, Adrian stared at his hands for a while before the thought of his face being featureless struck him.

"Heck no, I prefer to be dead than to have my handsome face taken away from me," Adrian said sitting on the floor he continued. "But aren't I already dead?"

Lightly laughing as his body slowly sank into the yellow material, Adrian looked at the ceiling and said. "I hope I'm not going to be here for eternity."

Adrian closed his eyes as thoughts of his past life flashed through his mind. "I wonder what Alexia and Gary would be doing."

Ttssss...

Hearing what seemed to be a door open, Adrian turned his head towards where the sound had come from.

A green featureless person entered the room before walking towards where Adrian sat.

Seeing the green person's featureless face, Adrian sighed before muttering. "I hope I don't look like him."

The green person stopped a few meters away from Adrian before saying. "Follow me."

Not saying anything else, the featureless person turned his back toward Adrian before walking out.

As he watched the green person leave, Adrian stood up from where he sat before following behind the green dude.

When they stepped out of the room, Adrian found himself in a long yellow hallway that was filled with a mix of featureless people and those who had auras around their bodies all having either gold, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, or purple color.

Staring at the faces of those who walked beside him, Adrian touched his face and sighed in relief after he felt his eyes and nostrils.

'I could've just done that.' Adrian said to himself after he realized he could have just felt his face to know whether he was featureless.

"The name is Dra and I'm your guide on this journey." The green featureless person said folding his long arms behind his broad back.

Pulled out of his thoughts by Dra's voice, it took a while for Adrian to grasp what the green person had said.

After a few seconds had passed, Adrian said trying to make his tone as polite as possible. "Nice to meet you, my name is Adri-"

"I don't care what your name might be." The green dude said as he effortlessly moved through the bunch of souls that littered the hallway. Acting as if his actions weren't rude.

"Damn you." His teeth gritted in frustration, Adrian concluded that Dra wasn't worthy of a person's respect or politeness.

"Be glad you're my guide or you would've been dead already." Forced to swallow his anger, Adrian muttered to himself while staring daggers at Dra.

"Keep close, we are going to the place where you were summoned." Swiftly walking across the hallway, Dra's feet seemed to spend less than a second on the floor.

'To hell with it.' Adrian gritted his teeth after seeing the smug expression on Dra's face.

....

Author's note- Adrian didn't see a change to Dra's features (since the latter is featureless) Adrian just sought a reason for revenge.

....

Treating Dra's words like air, Adrian kept walking forward with clenched fists and revenge clouding his mind.

"Answer me if I'm talking to you." Angered that Adrian had ignored him, Dra would've stared at Adrian with narrowed eyes if the former had any.

Adrian acted like he wasn't the one Dra was talking to as he turned to look behind him. Shrugging after seeing no one was behind him, Adrian proceeded to ignore Dra.

He took a few steps before stopping a few meters in front of Dra then he asked with a subtle smile on his lips. "Who are you talking to? There was no one behind us. Anyway, now that I know you've got mental issues shall we go?"

With an evil-looking smile blooming on Adrian's lips he said to himself after Dra was in front of him. 'My revenge has just begun.'

Adrian might have been weak when he was alive but he was no pushover, if someone messed with him he would fuck the person 10 times over even if it had to take him more than a month.

Remembering Dra's angry aura, Adrian licked his lips as he imagined how Dra would react when he did everything he had in mind.

****

Dra walked into a room with frustration radiating out of every fiber of his being, he could only wonder which god he had offended to be treated like this.

A few seconds after Dra entered the room, Adrian walked in with a playful smile on his handsome face.

Running his gaze through the golden room he had found himself in, Adrian felt a difference between this room and other places he had been.

At the center of the room, a man with a long white beard and long white hair sat imposingly on a golden throne. He had a domineering aura about his form.

Slightly shivering as he tried to avoid eye contact with the man, Adrian currently felt naked before the man even though he was wearing the white robe he had died with.

As Dra walked towards where his colleagues were, he kept his eyes locked on Adrian as he vowed to make the latter pay for the things he did.

With an expression that said 'What you gonna do?' after he remembered all that he had done to Dra, Adrian laughed internally as he flashed Dra a small smile.

With his bravado dissipating after he locked eyes with Adrian, a shiver ran down Dra's spine as he thought. 'That child is a demon.'

The man looked at the people gathered in the room before running his hand through his beard and saying. "Congrats, you all have managed to get the attention of gods."

The man's regal aura, a voice that commanded respect, and the golden throne he sat on, would make him reminiscent of a god if Earthlings were to see him.

"I'll let you ask some questions." Despite his dislike for questions, the man was forced to do it cause it was his job.

"You." Randomly pointing at a pretty blond boy, the man gave the boy permission to speak after seeing the latter had his hand raised.

"Are you god?" Clearing his throat, the blond boy asked the question on everyone's mind.

With a smile on his face, he said. "No, I'm one of their many helpers."

A nerd-looking boy raised his hand before saying. "You said 'Their'. Could there be more than one god?"

"Yes, there are a lot of gods that have existed since the dawn of time." The man pointed at another person as he gave a brief answer to the nerd's questions.

"How did we get the attention of gods?"

He had a subtle frown as he looked at the middle-aged woman who had asked the question. "They're the only ones who know the exact reason but sometimes, it's either you did something great or your life was an extremely sad one."

The man looked at the mixture of gold, red, orange, and yellow souls for a while before intently staring at the only purple soul.

Having a stoic expression on his face, the man said. "Rest in your rooms until we get to the Gate of Reincarnation."

With his eyes fixed on Adrian's body, the man kept thinking about what the gods would want from a soul of the lowest rank.

"Scary," Adrian muttered as he walked out of the room with the others, his body trembled slightly when he felt the man's gaze locked on him.

"The time has come." As they left the room, the man stared at the ceiling before closing his eyes and disappearing from where he sat.
