31 Chapter 31: Night Raid

Gael and the three hunters from the village along with their respective groups after the meeting they had, immediately head out to the mountains, and when they reached the middle climb of the mountain they stopped and had a small talk.

" we will part ways here, I have already explained your respective tasks, I wish you guys good luck, " Gael said with a solemn voice, making the mood serious.

" you too, we wish you good luck, and thank you for helping pour village, " the bearded hunter said then he bowed.

" thank you for helping our village! " the other two hunters and the men from the village all said thank you at the same time and bowed simultaneously.

" thank me when I freed the captives and subdued the bandits, " Gael said with a smile on his face.

" I'll head first, " Gael said then he and Fortis both turned into a blur and then disappeared.

The three hunters nodded at each other then they all went in different directions along with the members of their group.

Gael and Fortis are travelling through the thick tree branches, they made quick progress and after half an hour they reached the bandit camp.

They are both standing on a tree branch observing the guards in one of the entrances to the bandit camp and after a few minutes, one of the bandits left his place to take a leak.

Gael disappeared from the tree branch leaving only Fortis then after a few seconds the bandit who took a leak returned with his head down, he is Gael he knocked out the bandit who took a leak and swapped a few of their clothing like the chest armour and the helmet that the bandit was wearing, he didn't kill the bandit because he is one of the men from the village who was forced to join the bandit group. Before Gael and the others left he asked the village chief to make a list of the men who were taken from the village and the information mostly consist of descriptions of every person, for Gael to quickly memorize.

" oh, you're back already? " the other bandit guarding the gate asked, but Gael who is pretending to be a bandit didn't answer.

He then looked up and the other bandit immediately realized that he is not the same person who left earlier.

" you!.." the bandit tried to shout when he noticed Gael but Gael quickly stabbed the bandit on its neck with a dagger.

While this is happening Fortis managed to sneak in and he directly went to the prison where the women of the village and other captives are held but the prison is also guarded by two Bandits and they are both not from the village that is why Fortis swiftly dealt with them by cutting their heads off using his sword and great speed, the heads of the bandits rolled and their necks spurt out blood when the prisoners saw the scene they were horrified, they just saw a Goblin behead two people.

After killing the Bandits Guarding the Prison Fortis used his sword to destroy the lock of the prison and freed the captives but they are all scared of Fortis that is why no one left the prison immediately when Fortis realized what the people are thinking based on their expressions he immediately left.

One of the prisoners took a step outside to confirm if the Goblin really left or not, the prisoner stick his head out and when he saw that there is no one outside he immediately left the prison and realized that there are no more guards outside, he then saw the west gate and saw that outside the gate there is someone waving his hand, he realized it is someone from his village so he immediately runs towards the man.

" what are you doing here? " asked the man who just escaped.

" Isn't it obvious we are here to rescue you guys, where are the others? " the men who went with Gael to help the prisoners escape asked.

" They are just behind me, they will definitely follow after me " the man who escaped said.

Then after a few seconds, several more people came out of the gate to escape, and when the rescue team from the village confirmed that no is left behind they immediately descend the mountain as per Gael's instructions.

Fortis went to two more prisons similar to the one earlier and did the same thing, the prisoners are scared of him so he leaves after he opened the prison cell, and just like that more and more villagers escaped the bandit camp.

While Fortis is freeing all the prisoners Gael went to the tents of the Bandits and started a massacre, he has no mercy for those who reap the lives of another as if they were nothing, although he was the same doing this thing is making him feel a little less guilty for everything he has done.

His eyes are blank and his face emotionless as his sword killed more and more bandits, blood slowly dyed his sword red and his hands completely crimson.

Gael now has killed more than half of the members of the bandit group, the two vice leaders Manny and Hance were sleeping in their tents when they felt as if something was wrong, their senses slowly adapt, their noses twitched then they both smelled something in the air, the sweet smell of blood filled their noses, then they both stood up immediately.

'someone's attacking us!' they both thought to themselves, they took their weapon and wear their armors and quickly left their tent and what welcomes them is a sight that they never imagined they will see.

The land is dyed red as if it is a sea of blood some of their members are running for their lives screaming.

" a demon, he's a demon! " one of the bandits shouted as he run then suddenly his head flew off his neck and a figure of a man wearing simple leather armor with a black cloak on and wielding a one-handed sword dyed in blood appeared, it was Gael he was walking with a sword in his hand as if he was a psychopath killer.

Then his head turned towards Manny and Hance who are now standing side by side holding their sword ready to fight but when they saw Gael's face they cannot muster up the courage to step forward and fight.

" who-who-who-who are you? Why are you doing this to us? " Manny asked terrified and his voice trembling and Hance is beside him cannot utter a single word.

They were once a famous mercenary duo who took the capital by storm through their great achievements but in front of the current Gael it is as if they were just two children who witnessed death for the first time. They are both born in the same village and are childhood friends, they practised their swordsmanship together making their coordination extremely good making them again quite the fame when they started as a mercenary since they managed to defeat older and stronger mercenaries.

They then created their own mercenary group named Twin Swords Mercenaries, and after a few years, a lot of young and talented mercenaries happily joined them because of their strength and fame, making their mercenary group rank among the best of the mercenary groups throughout the Kingdom, and their success continues they completed missions of different levels and their strength caught the attention of the nobles from then on their Twin Swords Mercenaries started to do missions issued by the nobles reaping them a lot of money and benefits but their success suddenly end when they accepted a mission from a mysterious noble, bringing them to their current state, their one famous mercenary group are now just a lowly bandit group and they are even not the leader of the bandit group, Manny and Hance then slowly lost their fame and the trust of the people and because of what the current bandit leader Hannibal did they are now amongst the most hated person and worse criminal of the Nubis Kingdom.

Now both Hance and Manny are facing the danger of losing their lives in the hands of the wicked-looking Gael.

' dammit, how did things turn out like this? ' Hance thought to himself, his whole body is trembling in fear and he is sweating from all over.

Manny and Hance both started having difficulty in breathing when Gael released his killing intent and bloodlust, it is as if the king of hell has crawled out from his fiery kingdom.

Manny and Hance slowly knelt clutching their necks and sweating they looked up and saw Gael slowly walk towards them.

" you are asking me who am I, I am…the Devil " Gael said answering Manny's earlier question with a cruel and terrifying smile on his face.
