1 Where Am I?

When he woke up, he couldn't remember anything. He was scared, confused, and alone.

'Where am I? Who am I? How did I get here?' All of a sudden, a flash of memories surged into his brain.

'My name is Dustin Reuter. I was on the internet looking for something to clear my boredom, and then I found it. <Would you like to become the strongest?> Since I was bored I decided to click it to see what kind of game it would be.

'After I clicked, it started showing all kinds of weird information like <Over 99% of players do not survive.> I am always up for a good challenge so I hit the download button. After it was done I opened it up, and I had to agree to the terms of service. Unfortunately, this was one of the stupid ones where you have to scroll to the bottom of it to agree, so I scrolled.

It was longer than any I've ever seen before, so long it felt like a book. After finally getting to the bottom I clicked accept. That's when it happened, There was a big flash and I passed out. Then I woke up here. I realized that I was in a completely different body. My previous one was 26 years old, had scruffy black hair, and was muscly. This one however looks to be about 16, it is skinny and has smooth hair. I don't know all the details of this body yet, because I don't have a mirror.'

After sorting out his memories he started looking around. He was in the middle of the forest. There were trees so tall that he couldn't see the top and some that were 'normal' size. The leaves on the trees were a mix between green and blue. There were also bushes surrounding him. These bushes looked normal, except for the fact that each bush was a different neon color. One was yellow, one was green, one was blue, etc.

When he was in the middle of observing his surroundings, the bush behind him started shaking.

"Hello? Is anybody there?"

A yellow squirrel jumped out of the bush and ran past him. He was fascinated by the color of the little animal. It looked the same as a normal squirrel, except for its color.

After calming down Dustin starts walking around to find a town or at least a person to find out where he is. He spent hours walking around and failing to find somebody, he started to get hungry, so he decided to stop looking for people for now and try to catch some food.

He created a small animal trap by digging a hole and covering it with leaves. Dustin walked a couple of yards away and started to set up a small shelter to sleep in for the night. After about an hour, he went back to the trap and found a yellow squirrel in the hole. He looked around to find something to kill it with. He struggled to pick up a rock about half of a foot in diameter. He carried it over to the squirrel and dropped it on it.

Out of nowhere, a floating blue box appeared in front of him.

{"Congratulations, you have killed a Lv.1 Yellow Forest Squirrel."

"You have 3% of the exp needed to level up"}

"What the"

Dustin was confused by the appearance of the floating box in front of him. After he was finished reading the words in the box, it disappeared.

'Do I have a system like all of those novels I've read?' Dustin thought.

After his stomach started growling he decided to ignore what just happened and get some food. He moved the rock out of the way and picked up the now-dead squirrel out of the hole. He took it over to his simple shelter that was made out of leaves and sticks. He made a fire and cooked the meat.

After he ate, he decided to figure out how to access the system.

'If it's the same as those novels, then I know just what I need to do.'

"System," He said. A blue box once again appeared floating in the air, although this time it had different words on it.

After Dustin read what the system said, he thought of opening the 'inventory' section. The system changed what it looked like. It became a big square that had 100 little boxes in it. In the first box, there was a wooden spear, and in the second box, there was a money pouch.

Dustin clicked on the spear and some words appeared on top of it.

{"Wooden spear, A starting weapon that was randomly chosen. It is just a stick with one end sharpened."}

After reading the description of the spear, Dustin clicked on the money pouch.

{ "Money Pouch, A pouch with money in it. It has a couple of coins in it to help you out."}

Dustin reached into the box and felt a wooden stick and a small bag. He grabbed the stick and pulled it out of the box. He then saw the spear disappear from his inventory, and he was holding it. It looked exactly like a stick that was taken straight from a tree with the bark stripped off and was sharpened on one end. He felt the tip of it and realized it was sharp enough to cut him if he applied a decent amount of pressure.

He then put the spear back into his inventory and decided to leave the money alone for now. He closed the inventory and opened the 'Stats' section of the system.

Dustin read what the system said and decided to click on some of the stats to see what they did.

{"Intelligence increases the user's memory and thinking speed. High intelligence is also needed to become stronger as a mechanic."}

{"Mystic increases the user's mana and mana regeneration. High mystic is needed to become stronger as a mage and psychic."}

{"Endurance increases the user's stamina, stamina regeneration, health, health regeneration, and defense."}

After reading the information about the stats, Dustin clicked on the 'Skills' section.

It was quite obvious that there would be no skills because he just woke up with no memories. After reading all the information from the system, Dustin decided to set up his trap again and go to sleep as it was getting late.

When he woke up in the morning the first thing he did was check on the animal trap. Inside the trap, there was an animal that looked kind of like a deer, but it was the size of a raccoon. Dustin grabbed the spear out of his inventory and stabbed the animal.

When it hit, he felt a lot of resistance. It didn't kill the creature until he hit it a second time.

{"Congratulations, you have killed a Lv.1 Forest Deery"

"You have 7% of the exp needed to level up"}

After cooking and eating the animal, Dustin decided to start searching for a town again. He also decided to go hunting to try to level up.

After about 5 hours, Dustin killed a small green animal that sort of resembled a possum. He finally got the notification he was waiting for.

{"Congratulations, you have killed a Lv.1 Green Forest Ferret"

"You have 100% of the exp needed to level up."

"You have leveled up. You have gained 5 stat points."

"Congratulations, you have learned the skill [Beginner Spear Mastery] - Lv.1"

"Congratulations, you have learned the skill [Stab] - Lv.1"}

After reading all the information that appeared, Dustin was excited. He opened the stat section of the system and placed 2 Points into STR, 2 Points into END, and 1 Point into AGI. He immediately felt stronger, and he saw his body fill out a little bit.

Dustin clicked on the skills and read the descriptions.

{"Beginner Spear Mastery is the first step into becoming a master spear user. The higher the level gets, the stronger and more proficient the user becomes in using the spear."}

{"Stab is a basic skill that can be used by most weapons by thrusting the weapon forward into the target. The higher level the skill gets, the stronger the stab becomes."}

After reading everything, Dustin decided to eat. When he first started hunting he figured out that he could put the dead animals into his inventory. He tried doing the same thing with the animals that were still alive, but it did not work.

After eating and resting for a bit Dustin decided to continue hunting and looking for civilization. Not too long after he started walking he found a disgusting creature that looked like something straight out of a horror movie. It walked on 4 legs, and its entire body was black. It kind of resembled a llama. Its mouth was filled with sharp teeth, and it was foaming. Its eyes were red with black pupils.

Dustin snuck up behind it and used his swung his spear at it. The spear hit it, but it didn't go in more than a quarter of an inch. He found this surprising because every time he stabbed another creature it died in just 1 or 2 hits, and he just upgraded his strength.

The monster turned around and started chasing Dustin. After running for a while, he was starting to run out of breath, so he glanced at his stat page and saw he only had 40 stamina left. He decided to stop running and fight the creature.

Dustin turned around and swung at the creature to try and create some space. After it jumped back to avoid the spear, Dustin stabbed it in its eye. He was surprised that he hit where he was aiming, but he just assumed it was because of the [Beginner Spear Mastery] skill he got.

After being stabbed in the eye, the creature screeched in pain, but it wasn't dead yet. It seemed like barely anything happened to it, but Dustin could tell that it took some damage from getting hit.

After being stabbed, the creature scratched Dustin, but he was able to block it with his arms. He was thrown off by how much it hurt when he got scratched. He got a notification that said he had taken 40 damage. After reading it he opened his eyes wide realizing how much damage the creature does, even when he blocked it.

Knowing that he couldn't take a couple of hits from the creature, Dustin decided to use his [Stab] skill. He aimed for the creature's other eye and thought of using the skill when he stabbed. The spear started glowing white and got thrust faster than it ever has been before. It stabbed into the creature's eye, and this time it didn't stop. The spear went through the creature's eye and out of the back of its head.

The creature finally fell dead. Dustin pulled his spear out of the creature and put it and the creature into his inventory. Dustin was exhausted after the fight. He checked his stamina and realized he only had 10 points left. He also read the notification he got from the system.

***

{"Congratulations, you killed a Lv.4 Demonic Beast."

"You have 54% of the exp needed to level up."

"Congratulations, [Beginner Spear Mastery] has gained 1 level."}

Dustin was kind of disappointed that his [Stab] Skill didn't level up, but he was still excited that killing one creature gave him so much experience, and also leveled up his Spear Mastery skill. After distributing his stat points, Dustin opened his stat menu.

Dustin decided to rest for a little bit. After his health and stamina were full, he continued hunting and searching. For the rest of the day, he didn't find any other demonic beasts, so he just got a little exp from 'regular' animals. He wasn't able to level up after a couple of hours so he decided to set up a shelter, eat, and go to sleep.

The next few days went by the same way. He looked for any signs of civilization and went hunting at the same time. Doing this he leveled up a couple of times and noticed the effects that stat points had on his body.

He realized that he could easily pick up a rock the same size as the one he struggled with on the first day. He could also run for a considerable amount of time longer than he could at first. He ran into a couple of demonic beasts, all of them around the same strength as the first one. He noticed that they got easier to kill after he leveled up and increased his stats. He also noticed that the higher his level gets the slower the experience gain. He has been stuck at level 4 for a couple of days.

Dustin learned another skill after a couple of days, and he leveled up his old ones. He figured out that the skill gets harder and harder to level up the higher level it is. He realized that he was a lot more accurate and could do a lot more damage without using skills now. This was thanks to his [Beginner Spear Master] increasing in level. The higher it got the stronger and more accurate it got. The same thing with his [Stab] skill, it does a lot more damage than when he first got it. The new skill he got is also really cool.

{"Pierce is a basic skill that can be used with most spears. When activated the user stabs their spear forward to deal damage to the target(s). This skill can hit multiple targets at once."}
