20 Chapter 20: Cardin Issues

Before the chapter begins, I want to ask if anyone reads the notes at the end of the chapter? Or is it easier for me to put them towards the beginning like this or after the chapter, but written out and not in the A/N section? Another thing I'd like to ask is people's stances on harems. To me, they are highly unrealistic to do properly. I don't want to make a harem personally, but I also realize that a lion pack is essential a giant harem. In the opinions of you the reader, should I stick to a single girl (more than likely Ariel) or should I make it into a small harem (and i mean small, like 4 girls at max)? If I do take that route, which girls should i add to it, aside from Ariel and Neo? I won't break the Argus and Bumblebee pairings, because I like those ones. Making his way back to where his team is sitting, Topaz sees his teammates with broad smiles on their faces. He sat down at his seat next to Ariel, and turned to face his team.

Nova: "Bro! That was so badass!"

Scarlett: "Just what one should expect of team SATN. Way to show everyone what we are capable of."

Ariel: "You looked so cool Topaz."

Topaz: "Thanks you guys. It was nothing special."

Port: "And with that class, we are out of time for today. I will see you all tomorrow."

Topaz and the rest of team SATN make their way out of the classroom and begin to head towards to cafeteria.

Nova: "Ah, the best class of the day."

Scarlett: "What class? It's lunchtime."

Nova: "Exactly."

Scarlett looks like she wants to argue with him, but Topaz puts his hand on her shoulder to stop her from continuing.

Topaz: "Not worth it."

Scarlett: *Sigh* "Yeah, you're right."

Arriving at the cafeteria, team SATN goes to the counter and grab their food, and then make their way to an open table. A few minutes after they sit down, Topaz is suddenly tackled from the side and knocked to the floor.

Topaz: "Ouch."

Ruby: "Topaz! Hi!"

Topaz: "Ruby, we've been over this."

Ruby: "Yeah, but I missed you."

Topaz: "It has been two days Ruby."

Ruby: "Yeah? So what?"

Topaz: "Whatever, it's good to see you Ruby."

Topaz turns to the entrance of the cafeteria to see the rest of team RWBY making their way over to where team SATN is. A little behind them are the members of team JNPR. The two teams go and grab their food, and then sit by team SATN.

Topaz: "Hey everyone, hope you are all getting used to things."

Yang: "Hi Topaz. Things are easy."

Weiss: "Hmph, why should I answer to you? You've been nothing but rude to me since we met."

Ariel: "Topaz, that doesn't sound like you at all, what happened?"

Topaz: "It's related to the kidnapping incident. Don't worry about it."

Blake: "You haven't exactly been the kindest to him either Weiss."

Topaz turns to the members of team JNPR to officially introduce himself.

Topaz: "We haven't officially met yet. My name is Topaz and I am a member of team SATN, and Ruby and Yang's adopted brother."

Jaune: "Jaune Arc, aiming to be the greatest, most attractive huntsman to date."

Nova: "Sorry Pal, that seats already taken by yours truly."

Everyone else: "..."

Pyrra: "Pleased to meet you Topaz, I am Pyrra Nichos. It's good to see you again Scarlett."

Scarlett: "Good to see you as well Pyrra."

Ren: "Greetings, I am Lie Ren."

Nora: "Hi, I'm Nora Valkyrie."

After all the introductions were in order, the three teams chatted amongst themselves and laughed at the things that had occurred so far. Once lunch finished, the three teams made their separate way to their respective destinations. The rest of the day passed rather uneventfully.

A few weeks after the start of class, team SATN finds themselves in the cafeteria with team RWBY and team JNPR. They were having a discussion with Jaune and his Cardin bully problem. When they were having a discussion, they were suddenly interrupted by some laughter and whimpering nearby. Topaz turns to where it is coming from and sees team CRDL picking on a bunny girl faunus. Topaz stands up and walks to where it is happening.

Topaz: "Hey! Knock it off right now."

The group turns to see who dared to interrupt them. When they see another faunus they begin to laugh again.

Cardin: "Aww, does the animal not like seeing other animals being picked on?"

Topaz: "You know, for a Beacon student you really aren't that smart."

Cardin: "What was that you jackass?"

Topaz: "I guess you could use a faunus' heightened hearing with how bad yours is."

Cardin: "You damn animal!"

Cardin throws a punch at Topaz, who steps back and watches Cardin end up punching his teammate Skye.

Topaz: "Oof, I guess you need to work on your combat Cardin."

Cardin: "Bastard!"

Cardin and the rest of his team rush towards Topaz. Cardin throws a right hook at him from his right, Dove throws a jab from his left, and Russel throws himself into a drop kick from in front of him. Topaz catches both punches with his right and left hand, then drags the two to block the drop kick. Watching the four of team CRDL roll on the ground in pain made Topaz laugh. He then smelt a familiar scent so he made his way over to the bunny girl.

Topaz: "Hi there, my name is Topaz. Are you ok?"

????: "Pleased to meet you Topaz, my name is Velvet Scarlatina. Thank you for standing up for me. I hope you aren't injured."

Topaz: "I am perfectly fine. Those guys were pushovers."

The doors to the cafeteria are thrown open and in walks Professor Goodwitch.

Goodwitch: "What is going on here!"

Cardin: "The animal went wild and attacked us!"

Rest of team CRDL: "Yeah, what he said."

Goodwitch: "Topaz, is that correct."

Topaz: "No ma'am. Those four were bullying poor miss Velvet here, so I tried to stop them. When I tried to do it peacefully they attacked me, so I defended myself. And technically, I didn't hurt them, they hurt themselves."

Goodwitch: "You expect me to believe that?"

Velvet: "What he says is true Professor Goodwitch."

Team RWBY, JNPR, SATN: "It's true."

Goodwitch: "I don't believe it. It wouldn't be the first time someone has used the self-defense excuse to get away with harming another student. I will be checking the cameras. I find it very hard to believe that in a four on one scenario, the four would be beaten so badly. And without the lone one doing the attacking. Topaz, follow me. Mr. Winchester, you and your team go get yourselves checked by the nurse, then stay there until I come to pick you up."

Topaz follows Professor Goodwitch through the halls before eventually coming to an elevator. The doors open, and Professor Goodwitch steps in and motions for Topaz to follow. The elevator ride was quiet and uncomfortable for Topaz. When the doors opened, Topaz found himself in a strange office. Straight ahead of him is a desk with Professor Ozpin sitting at. Behind Professor Ozpin is a large semi-circular window, with a clock's details. Along the ceiling are many gears and cogs rotating at a steady pace. Following Professor Goodwitch to Professor Ozpin's desk, she tells you to sit down and explains the situation to Ozpin.

Ozpin: "Let me pull up the security footage from the cafeteria from earlier. We shall see just what exactly happened."

Once the footage is pulled up, Professor Goodwitch and Ozpin can only stare with wide eyes as they see Topaz easily take care of team CRDL. The two look between the screen and Topaz, the disbelief evident.

Goodwitch: "I owe you an apology Topaz. You defended a fellow student from being bullied and were then questioned as if you were guilty. I am sorry."

Topaz: "It's ok Professor Goodwitch. The situation was a little unbelievable, so I get it."

Ozpin: "Young Topaz, have you had issues with being treated differently because you are a faunus in the past? Here at Beacon, I want every student to receive the best possible training and education without feeling like they don't belong due to their background or lineage."

Topaz: "I have experience it in the past. I won't say I've been through situations worse than any others because I don't think that's true, but there have been times where it got pretty bad."

Ozpin: "Like the kidnapping years ago?"

Topaz: "... How?"

Ozpin: "I have many ways young Mr. Topaz."

Topaz: "Yes, the kidnapping was probably the worst it had been."

Ozpin: "If I may, what happened back then?"

Topaz: "I'm sorry sir. I'd rather not get into it. It's something that I'm trying to push out of my mind so I don't treat someone else unfairly because of it."

Ozpin: "Miss Schnee you mean."

Topaz: "Weiss, and the rest of her family. Only Jacques Schnee is responsible for what I went through. The man who trained me when I was there actually cared and tried to help whenever he could. No one else should suffer for something they didn't do."

Ozpin: "So, your kidnapping was caused by Jacques Schnee?"

Topaz: "..."

Ozpin: *chuckling* "I've found in life that if you are observant, things tend to piece themselves together easier. No matter, I will speak with General Ironwood from Atlas, and see if we can gather enough evidence to back up your statement. You are free to return to your team. I look forward to what the four of you will accomplish."

Topaz makes his way to the elevator. As he enters the elevator, he hears Professor Ozpin whisper to Professor Goodwitch, so he enhances his hearing a little more.

Ozpin: "Did you notice his eyes?"

Goodwitch: "Yes, they are silver. Same as Ms. Rose."

Ozpin: "The boy is very interesting. I look forward to his future."

Topaz remembers Summer talking about silver eyes. She had told both him and Ruby they were a grimms worst enemy, and that people with silver eyes have been targeted by something, so they were supposed to try to keep their eyes a secret as much as they could.
