The Tornado

Early in the days of the Earth, the Sky treasured few things. Preferring to simply stay far from the trouble and delights of the world with birds surrounding it, the Sky was a simple being. But above all else in the world, perhaps even above the birds themselves, the Sky treasured something else. When shooting stars flew through the sky and near the earth, the Sky was entranced. Wishing to capture one of the shooting stars for their own, the Sky reached out to pluck one from the canvas of space. But the shooting stars melted in the grasp of the Sky. For many years the Sky attempted to catch a star, and for many years it failed. But one day, it didn't. A shooting star plummeted down to Earth, settling among the Land. Desperate to find it, the Sky sifted through the dirt with mighty hands of wind, bundling them together and upturning the Land in pursuit of the star. The first tornado. However, the shooting star was nowhere to be found. The Sky has never given up its pursuit, however. So when the funnel of a tornado reaches down from the Sky, know that a shooting star has fallen to Earth as well.
