Her Rescuer

Time seemed to move slowly for Yu Feng. She could only watch as the man held his sword tightly as he head over to her.

The shouting and cheering from the square faded away from Yu Feng's ears. At this time, the only sound she could hear was her heavy breathing as well as her heartbeat.

Thump! Thump!

Her eyes widened as Yu Feng watched the man raised his sword slightly.

Her life flashed before her eyes as she thought that she was going to die soon. Her childhood, her life before that tragedy happened seemed clear to her. Then, Yu Feng recalled the day her mother had left, as well as the day her father had died.

It seemed that she was going to meet her father and grandparents soon. The once reputable Yu family from the Capital City was going to end just like this.

Seeing that the man had approached closer, Yu Feng closed her eyes tightly. Even if she was going to die, Yu Feng did not have the courage to see her blood splattering all over the place. She had thought that perhaps, the pain before death would lessen if she continued to close her eyes.

"Are you going to continue and stand there?" A deep resounded in her ears.

Yu Feng opened her eyes to a slit and saw that a man stood right in front of her. Though this man was dressed in all black as well, Yu Feng could sense that this man was not in the same team as the man who wanted to kill her.

Her rescuer was not covering half of his face with clothes and his clothing was a little bit different than those men in black.

Her gaze moved and Yu Feng saw that her rescuer was blocking the man's sword with his scabbard.

Yu Feng's legs grew weak as she realized that she had escaped death. She fell on the ground and Yu Feng scooted backward to get away from danger.

"Are you an idiot?" The man turned his head slightly to look at her. "Run!"

"I can't run!" Yu Feng barked back. She tried to stand up but found that she did not have the strength. At this time, she can only scoot back slowly. Yu Feng took a few deep breaths and tell herself to calm down. As soon as she can calm down, she needed to run and find a safer place.

"Useless!" The man clicked his tongue. Suddenly, he drew out his sword and blocked an incoming attack from the other party. With a force, he then pushed the man in black and created a distance between them.

"You!" The man in black looked at him in surprise. His eyes narrowed when he finally recognized his opponent. "Wen Ping!"

"You don't need to call out my name loudly," Wen Ping said lazily.

"What is the meaning of this? His Lordship has commanded that to kill that young boy on sight!" The man in black said.

Yu Feng's expression changed as she heard their conversation. She was not expecting that it was that bad man who wanted her life. Yu Feng could not understand why that man wanted her dead. She was merely a street thief with no importance.

There she was, trying to get to his side to deliver very important information, and yet, this bad man wanted her dead. Suddenly, Yu Feng recalled the man's words. He had called her a traitor!

The man in black pointed his sword at Wen Ping. "Wen Ping, are you saying that you are going against His Lordship's order?"

"First of all, we don't work for the same people," Wen Ping said. "His Lordship might want this young boy died, but my master for wanted me to protect him. The only person I listened to is my master."

"Your master is working under His Lordship!"

"It doesn't matter." Wen Ping held a sword in one hand and his scabbard in the other. "I cannot allow you to take this little boy's life. You have to fight me before you can continue."

The man in black looked at Wen Ping in surprise. Soon, his expression changed and there was anger in his eyes. "Since you have decided to go against His Lordship, then Wen Ping, you are a traitor!" He held the sword in his hand tightly and lurched forward for an attack.

Yu Feng watched as Wen Ping raised his hand to block the attack with his sword, then, Wen Ping thrust his scabbard to his opponent's stomach, causing him to gasp for air.

His opponent quickly recovered and lurched for another attack.

Though Yu Feng thought that the sound of the metal clashing was a little too loud, no one had come to check on them. The sound of cheering and loud music had drowned the fight.

Yu Feng looked at Wen Ping anxiously and forced herself to get up. Although Wen Ping had said that he was there to protect her, Yu Feng knew nothing about Wen Ping. She could not rely on someone else to save her life.

Leaning on the wall behind her as support, Yu Feng tried her best to stand up and move.

However, once that man noticed that she was trying to escape, his attack against Wen Ping grew ruthless. He received the order that the boy should be killed on sight and he could not let his master down. Perhaps, due to his anxiousness, the man grew careless.

Taking the chance, Wen Ping took his chance to hit the man on an acupuncture point on his neck. Just like that, the man stopped moving and dropped down on the ground.

Yu Feng turned around in time to watch the man fall. Then, she moved her gaze to Wen Ping and looked at him in shock. "Did you kill him?"

Wen Ping returned his sword into its scabbard and scoffed at Yu Feng. "Don't be ridiculous. He only passed out." Then, he stopped in front of Yu Feng. "Can you still walk?"

Yu Feng nodded her head vigorously.

"Then, come on. We need to get out of here before the others come."

Yu Feng stared at Wen Ping with her mouth gaped open.
