Bad Man

The surroundings around the camp were very quiet at night. One would think that the area was deserted, but if they looked closely, they would be able to notice that a few soldiers were patrolling around.

Yu Feng laid on the grass outside the tent and look at the starry sky. The Orange cat laid lazily on the stomach with a bliss looked on his face. The cat was in a good mood having his owner rubbing his stomach.

"Orange ah, why do you think they wanted to keep me on this camp?" Yu Feng muttered. "Last time, they said I am free to move around as long as I am going to return on before the lantern festival. Could it be that they were afraid that I would run away?"

The orange cat moved his head and purred.

Yu Feng chuckled at the cat's movement. "You are right. That man did not keep me here because he was afraid that I was going to escape. After all, they have you as a hostage. Orange, you know that I won't leave you in that bad man's hand, right?"

Orange lifted his head, blinked, and meowed once.

"I think that the bad man only chose to keep me here because I mentioned using the underground passage to find him."

Yu Feng's hand paused briefly on Orange's head as a thought came to her mind. Then, she started to move again.

"You did not see it earlier, but that man's face changed when he stared at the map. Orange, you say… do you think that he had noticed something on the map?" An excited expression flashed on her face. "Do you think something is interesting in the drainage system? A secret? Orange, how about we go on an adventure later and see what we can find?"

"I wouldn't do that if I were you."

Hearing a voice that came out of nowhere, Yu Feng quickly sat up. The orange cat hissed angrily as he was forced to leave his comfortable position.

Turning around, the bad man stood erectly in front of her. His black robe fluttered in the winds. His hands were both on his back and his eyes cast down. Because of their position, it might seem as if this man was looking down on her.

Yu Feng placed a hand on her chest as she muttered a few cursing words. This man had moved around like a ghost! She has not heard or sensed anyone near her at all and Orange had not warned her that there was anyone close.

It was no doubt that this man had high martial arts skills. Moreover… it seemed as if Orange did not perceive this man as his enemy. Yu Feng had been around Orange for a long time. As an animal, Orange's had a high observation skill and was really sensitive towards his surroundings. For Orange to not make a sound and warn her when this man approached, would have meant that Orange found that this man safe.

Yu Feng narrowed her eyes dangerously at her brother.

It has been a few days since they were separated and Orange was already cozying up to someone else.

"Have fun badmouthing me?" Qin Zhi Hao raised his brow.

"When did I—"

"I heard you call me a bad man loud and clear."

Yu Feng stared at the man with a dazed expression. She had indeed called him a badman. Since she was caught red-handed, there was no use in pretending.

"You are right." Yu Feng stood up and brushed the dust off her clothes and hand. She looked at his intimidating gaze and squared-up her shoulders. "I did call you a bad man. What are you going to do about it?"

"You impudent!" Pei Zi who stood behind the prince was angered at Yu Feng's rude way of talking. He took a step to scold her but stopped when the prince gave him an order not to move.

Yu Feng glanced at the guard behind that imposing man and looked away. "You promised that I will have my freedom as long as I agreed to work for you. You already have Orange as a hostage, why do you want to keep me here? Moreover," Yu Feng paused and stepped closer. "Eavesdropping to other's conversation is rude. You are indeed a bad man."

At this time, Yu Feng clearly did not care whether she had offended someone with high status as the man in front of her. Anyway, as far as she knew, this man needed her to act as his runner during the lantern festival. As long as he needed her, he would not dare to do anything foolish towards her, right?

Qin Zhi Hao stared at the teenage boy in front of him.

No one had ever spoken this rudely to him and got away with it. However, as Qin Zhi Hao thought of this teenage boy's upbringing, he decided to let it pass.

Moreover, this boy had piqued his interest. He might grow up in the street and has not received a proper education, but Qin Zhi Hao noticed that he was not stupid. What Qin Zhi Hao valued about this boy was his quick thinking. If only he was someone literate, this boy could be nurture to be someone valuable by his side.

When he heard how Yu Feng had entered the drainage system to reach his side in the shortest time possible, Qin Zhi Hao was impressed. However, he then began to doubt Yu Feng's identity.

He had to send his man to recheck Yu Feng's identity but could not find out anything about her. Yu Feng was someone without an identification tag and it was hard for him to trace his linage.

Qin Zhi Hao only knew that this young boy called Xiao Feng was an orphan who lived alone with his cat.

Yu Feng has become someone he should be wary of, but Qin Zhi Hao had no other choice but to trust her. At least until the lantern festival ended smoothly. Because of this, he wanted to keep her closer so that he will be able to observe her a bit more and decide whether Yu Feng was a friend or a foe.

"You said I can stay here as a guest, but you have been keeping me here as a prisoner," Yu Feng continued to voice her complaint. She swept her eyes around and stopped at the guard who stood not far away from them. "Look at the numbers of guards you assigned to guard me. What is it? Are you afraid that I might run away?"

"Yes."

The man's prompt answer threw Yu Feng off her guard.

"I am sorry if you might think that I am keeping you as a hostage in this camp. But I do have reasons to keep you here." Qin Zhi Hao walked around, encircling her, and stopped. "Since you are going to work for me, there are a few things that you have to know."

"What?"

Qin Zhi Hao ignored her rudeness again and snapped his fingers. Seconds later, a few men in black gathered around them.
