2 I Want To See You One More Time

"Doctor Jian, you're so bad! Why did you take vacation last month just in time when I have my annual visit!!!"

Jian Kang Lu laughed a little and smiled sweetly to a middle aged woman in front of him. She insists on having an extra visit today just to make sure she will meet him.

"I'm sorry. That's my bad, auntie. Now please let me hear your heartbeat. Did you take your medicine regularly this last month without me?"

"Of course, you keep nagging me each month to keep my blood sugar under control. You even nagged me more than my own daughter!"

"Mmm.. That's because i want auntie keep healthy so we could meet each month for a long long time in the future"

"Sweet talk!"

Her daughter beside this woman just laughs and gives Jian Kang Lu an apologetic smile. "My mother keeps saying she won't take her medicine regularly if she can't meet you this month, doctor Jian. So please don't take vacation without notice again."

Jian Kang Lu smiled and finished his examination. "Okay, based on your lab result and physical examination today, everything is under control. I will give you the same dose of your medication. Please come again next month, and let me know if you have additional symptoms. Auntie knows I love you the most if your blood sugar is under control just like this month. That will help to maintain your kidney."

The nurses told him that he has no more patients for today. This is already 8pm. Jian Kang Lu is hungry. The patient in the ward is under control. He's tired and glad today is not his on call day for emergency patients.

"Good night Nurse Yu, Nurse Li. I'm going home first then. Have a wonderful weekend. See you next week!"

"Bye Doctor Jian!" His two nurses said in unison.

Nurse Yu looks at Jian Kang Lu back as he walks away from them. His white coat already hung on his left hand and revealed a slim muscular body wrapped with a green long sleeve shirt paired with black trousers. His long legs emphasise his elegant image as he walks in steady steps towards the hospital door.

"Ahh.. I just realised how lucky I am to work in this kidney polyclinic though our patient is loaded. Just realised it after Doctor Jian was absent, but he truly is an apple to our eyes. Doctor Jian is so handsome compared to other radishes in our hospital. Why is he still single until now? I can't wait to see the lucky woman at last manage to capture his heart."

Nurse Li laughed at her younger colleague and said, "But that makes you young nurses come to work diligently, right? If Doctor Jian is taken, all of you will have heartbreak and will affect your job. Or you girls will be mourning and take a long leave to heal your broken heart."

"No!!! How can you say that, Nurse Li!!! Me myself will be happy from my bottom heart if Doctor Jian finally ties a knot!"

Nurse Li just laughed and cleared the patient record in her own computer. She prepared to go home also. Looking at the knitted brows of her young colleague, she really wants to tease her again. But she decided not to talk more.

As a senior nurse, how come she can not see all those sweet shy smiles and sometimes a little too bold body gesture thrown to Doctor Jian by her younger colleagues. Not only one or two, but a bunch of them. 

Nurse Yu might not be the one of them that is too bold with Doctor Jian. But Nurse Li can see, sometimes Nurse Yu will steal some glances to their handsome doctor with some hope expressed mildly in her face.

It's common to have a doctor-nurse pair in the hospital. With a busy schedule and inhuman working time, it's natural to meet their own partner in the same environment. 

And Nurse Li sometimes heard these young nurses come and go just to make small conversation with Doctor Jian, to make sure he saw them and maybe will take interest in them one day. Who knows that with more interaction, Doctor Jian will finally choose one of them.

Although Doctor Jian is not young anymore, you can't deny he had a charming look. He looks not more than 30 years old, his body shaped even better than those younger residents who are either too thin because too tired, or start accumulating fat under their skin because they don't have time to exercise. As one of the senior doctors, Doctor Jian also has a good income.

Doctor Jian already had his own apartment, car, and his appearance is one of those charming elegance looks. He had short black hair to reveal those smooth forehead, with straight eyebrows and those curved eyes that smiled a lot. His smiles charm not only his colleagues, but also his patients.

Doctor Jian is so popular with his patients. Lot's of his patients will bring their unmarried daughters and try to pair him with their daughter once they know Jian Kang Lu is still single without any ring in his finger. But Doctor Jian just smiles and laughs a little, teases their patient with politeness.

Doctor Jian is not only popular because of his looks, he is also smart. Most of his patients are long term kidney patients that not only need to take their medication. Sometimes, what the patient needs is someone to hear them and talk to them to ease their struggle with their permanent illness. They need someone who is smart enough to utilise their brain and conversation skills to make them diligent enough to take their medication and do check up regularly.

And Doctor Jian is one of those rare doctors that will make patients comfortable enough and keep coming back to stay in their best shape.

Jian Kang Lu already orders food from his mobile phone before he starts driving, he wants to have his dinner right when he reaches home. At this hour, it will only take 30 minutes to drive back to his own apartment. He told the restaurant to deliver his meal 40 minutes later.

Not long after he arrived home, his food was already delivered to his door. The hot steam from the beef noodles warms his cold face, with clear broth and a little bit green onion sprinkles on top. He sits on the dining table and opens his game, Magallan.

He checks whether his kitten is online. When he sees that Mist is online, he can't help to smile bitterly. It's already 1 week from his first and last meeting with that lovely kitten. They just met online two times this week, but it's so short because he can only be online late at night. He can't help upwards the corner of his mouth, and starts typing.

[Did you have free time? Can we do a co-op tonight?]

10 seconds later Mist replied.

[Okay, give me 10 more minutes to clear daily tasks.]

Jian Kang Lu tries to finish his meal in 10 minutes. They spent 1 hour together in the game. Not much conversation because co-op with Mist in his level is quite hard for his own lower level. Luckily Mist is really good at this game and can bring them together with good rewards.

After co-op, Mist said he had to go offline. Jian Kang Lu felt bitter in his heart. He wants to chat more, but he can't find any excuses to bring himself forward.

He missed his kitten, so much. He also can't explain why. He doesn't converse much to know him better, nor he knows anything about this kitten except from game. But Jian Kang Lu is someone who always tries his best in anything he decides. So he bravely typed.

[Do you have free time tomorrow?]

Five seconds passed without reply. Jian Kang Lu stared at the screen, his heart racing fast. He hoped for a good response from his kitten. Then he saw the lines pop up from the screen.

[I don't have classes tomorrow.]

Jian Kang Lu was really glad to see that positive response. He cautiously typed his response. He doesn't want to frighten his kitten.

[If it was alright with you, I want you to accompany me and buy a gift for my colleague's son. He just admitted to T university last month. I don't know what youngsters nowadays need. So I need some advice. Otherwise, i can only give a red envelope to him.]

10 seconds passed without reply.

Then the screen shows one short line.

[Okay.]

Jian Kang Lu can't help but feel butterflies flapping their wings in his heart. He's so relieved to see that one short word. He then types the place he suggests them to meet tomorrow, and asks his lovely kitten which time it's convenient for him to meet.

After his kitten goes offline, he finishes his daily task. Then he closed his app and took a bath, preparing to sleep. He can't help but smile while lying in his lonely bed, and try to remember that kitten's face. He closed his eyes and whispered.

'I want to see you one more time...'
