9 The Mistress

He remembered everything. How the wooden handrail felt cold on his palm as he carefully walked towards his father's room. How his attention was caught because of the moans coming from it. How it got louder as he reaches the door which is already slightly opened. His hand was shaking as he pushed it gently, peaking through the gap and seeing two figures on the bed. The red-haired woman was sitting, arching her back as his father was laying on the bed. Others may have thought that he was too young to know what they are doing back then and yes, he agreed. He was too young and so confused but... It is not the first time.

He stopped when he felt a pair of hands cover his eyes, trying to stop him from watching the disgusting acts performed by his father and his mistress. The hands then grabbed his shoulder and turn him around to face the person on his back. And as he turned, he saw a long black-haired woman, smiling brightly at him. Why did she have to smile at him like that? As if everything is fine. His left hand grabbed tightly onto the hem of his black silk pajama top as he stares at her teary red eyes.

"Let's get you to bed, okay?" His mother asked, tilting her head to the side and grabbing onto his other hand.

Kyou nodded before following his mother back to his room. He forgot the first time he saw his father and woman in their father's room. But what he didn't forget is how their mother continued to smile brightly at them in the morning after crying so hard inside her room every night when she thought Kyou and his sister were already asleep. She is the only Omega he ever loved and respected whom his father didn't. Not those who obviously flirt with him because of his money.

He grabbed onto the same old wooden handrail and felt his grip on the duffle bag tighten. They already left this hell before living with their mom's parents. He mentally cursed himself because of his situation. After all of what happened, just the thought of visiting his house suffocates him but he has to. And besides, he can't leave--- He stopped when a high-pitched squawk echoed in the house.

"Brother!" A black long-haired girl2 then came running down the stairs, stopping in front of Kyou as she glared at him. "Why didn't you tell me that you will come home?!"

Kyou smirked, placing his hand on her head. "You are asleep when I knocked on your room."

"But still, you should have woke me up! It's been months since you visited. When will you take me with you? Is your new apartment good? Can I go visit?" she continued to bombard him with questions, grabbing his shirt and tugging at it.

"Yes, yes. Soon and you can!" The latter can't help but laugh at how his sister looked and decided to tease her more. "But Kaede..."

"Hmm?"

"Did you shrank? You look smaller than I last met you." Kyou asked, measuring his sister's height moving his hand from her head towards his body, and acting like he is measuring her height.

Kaede lifted her fist to punch his brother which Kyou immediately stopped with his free hand, laughing at her when she groaned in irritation. "Argh!"

"Not too fast, Little Sis~ You have to train more to be stronger than your big brother." Kyou laughed, releasing her fist.

Kaede glared at him. "Just you wait. I will be a better Alpha than you!"

"Oh! I forgot." Kyou gasped fakely. "You are an alpha too."

"Leave already if you will just keep on teasing me!"

"Aren't you going to say that you miss me though?" Kyou asked, raising a brow at his sister who is now glaring at him which he just laughed at.

As much as he hated the house, his sister is still living with them. He was living with her back then but he can't stand seeing his father so he decided to rent an apartment away from him and their new 'mother'. His peaceful time with his sister was then cut off because of a soft feminine voice coming from the end of the staircase.

"Are you leaving already, Kyou?" Speaking of the devil...

Kyou turned his face to the side, looking at the person who is standing at the end of their staircase. No. He actually glared, eyes piercing right at her but the red-haired woman1 just smiled at him. Out of all the people in their house who will greet him, why her? He felt the side of his mouth twitch in annoyance, his smile dropping.

It was Friday night. Because of the invitation from Yuu for the celebration tomorrow, he went home to pick up some clothes. The only clothes he has in his apartment are clothes that he wears at home, his uniform, and a few casual clothes. He can buy if he wants to but why spend the money from 'that' guy.

"Why don't you have dinner with us? It will be done in a few minutes."

Kyou huffed, sarcastically as the woman continues to smile at him. "Drop the act, Yumie-san. You don't have to act like a dutiful wife since there are no guests here today."

"What..." Yumie gasped, almost stuttering. "I just want to invite you for dinner. I'm sure you also want to spend Valentine's Day with your family..."

"Valentine's Day? Oh, is it today? No need. I rather spend my Valentine's alone than see you casually eating with us like you are part of the family." Kyou whispered, eyelids squinted and lips curl inwards. "Because you never were."

He watched as Yumie's smile dropped, noticing how her fist tightened to her side before staring at her face. This woman... She is the reason why he chose to be quiet whenever his friends ask him why he hates Omega. Why would you be kind to someone who wrecked your family? He is not that stupid.

"Who taught you to speak like that to your mother?" a deep authoritative voice exclaimed from the back of Yumie, his voice echoing in the hallway as his same bright yellow eyes pierced into Kyou's who just watched while his father wraps his arms around Yumie's shoulder. "Is that what you learned in school?"

"Darling..." Yumie gently whispered while shaking her head as if saying 'stop'.

Kyou scoffed loudly, tongue pressed against his cheek in annoyance before grimacing. "Wait. My mother? Who? Your homewrecker omega?"

A loud slap echoed across the hall. Kaede's eyes widened as she saw her brother's face turned to his right, cheeks red from the impact of Yumie's hand. This is not looking good. She panicked and immediately tugged onto her brother's shirt when his pheromone reached her nose. The intensity of his hatred is starting to suffocate, not only her, but Yumie's too. She got it worse. She was grabbing onto their father, knees shaking as she glares at Kyou.

Why does it have to be this way whenever her brother comes home? He had done nothing wrong. It's all Yumie's fault! If it wasn't for her, her brother won't be living away from them... If it wasn't for her... Kaede stopped when she felt Kyou's hand on hers. She didn't even notice that she is shaking and grabbing onto his shirt tightly. Maybe out of anger? Frustration? Fear? She didn't know.

Kyou stares into her sister's red eyes. The same eyes as their mother. He placed his hand on her head and forced himself to flash his usual cheeky smile, trying to assure her that everything will be alright. That he is alright and he is there because after all... Kaede is all he had.
