CHAPTER FOURTY-FOUR ~Chanel

The weeks flew by so fast and before we knew it, it was first day of senior year. School resumed yesterday and I had never felt so good about school in a long time. Just the thought that this is our last year here, is an enough high to get our adrenaline pumping. In just a few months, we'll be out of New Orleans. The plan is to leave as soon as we graduate rather than wait until the admission is out. My mom should have given birth by then. With this new development, I would have to return home more frequent than I planned to just to see Rémy. Maybe with time, dad would move everyone to New York. That's what I'm hoping on.

"Guess who's going to the festival this weekend!" Kourtney sings. I don't want to go anywhere… I cry internally.

"What festival?" Tobi asks.

She looks shocked and offended that we don't know what festival is happening. We can't keep up with all the festivities in New Orleans. "The Satchmo Summerfest duh."

"What's that?" Tobi asks again.
