Law of War

I exhaled an immense amount of air, even more than usual. The beast seemed to be quite clever as it rushed towards me with the last of its strength. But it was too late. I let out my loudest dragon roar yet and the beast was blown backward.

After regaining my strength temporarily, I instantly sprang towards the beast and delivered my strongest punch. I put everything I had into it, my soul, my heart, my experiences, my ambition, my strength, and most of all, my determination. This punch was even stronger than the one before. The Krial did its best to defend against my attack, but my punch was too powerful.

I delivered it to the beast and then I felt its skull shatter. The blood spat out blood. It fell down. Then it died. I felt a great sense of accomplishment. I defeated a lower stage B rank beast.

I looked down at the bloody corpse. After realizing what I just did, I felt immense sorrow. I just killed a living being that didn't even live half its life. I just realized that this was the destiny of all the annihilators. This is the law of war.

You kill or get killed. I didn't like it, but I had to accept reality. I was warned beforehand that this path was not easy. If I gave up now, my honor would be demolished. I decided to keep my word and keep moving forward.

Later on, I lit a fire and ate the Krial's meat. As scary as it was, it was extremely delicious. I know this sounds rude but in this world this is normal. I was finally freed of my hunger and I ran at full speed ahead to get out of the forest.

According to the Astromix, the forest ended in another 30 miles towards the East. As I kept on running in that direction, I noticed that the side effects of the dragon's roar were even lower than the second one. I now understood that the more I used it the more I could perfect it. If I keep this up, I could even fight endlessly.

Of course, even a Shreeker could only use it five times consecutively without any side effects. But due to this, they are one of the most powerful races right now.

Luckily, this trick could be learned by humans as well. Now, even the captains, the master, and a few other officials too can use the dragon's breath. Although it is nowhere near perfection, it is still enough to fend off the Shreekers.

Eventually, I managed to escape the forest's vicinity. Outside was a red plain. I saw mountains in the distance.

I looked at my Astromix again. Behind those mountains was the village of Verix. It was a few miles away. I ran towards the village to get supplies. After running, I finally reached the base of the mountain.

There was a valley a few hundred meters above. I leaped my way up there. By the time I reached the valley, I was drenched in sweat. I walked forward and saw the village below. I went towards it. I reached the entrance of the village.

It was guarded by 2 muscular Verix. Even though they looked very muscular and intimidating, as the strongest Verix was only a lower stage A class, normal guards would be at most middle stage C rank. So, I fearlessly went forward.
