Chapter 7:

"Zoey! Zoey." Amire yells after the girl, but words couldn't do anything to deter her. The house was busted, just the same as the one in her mind. The door, still off his hedges. The window, still busted. Other than the sky and the grass, the vision was dead center. Below her, Zoey had the same feeling in her legs as before, numbness. "Zoey, what house are you talking about?" Amire huffed as she was just able to make it beside her significant other, but Zoey eyes could only focus on the house. What did it mean? Does this mean her mom is...

"It's the house from the vision." Her voice was monotone, giving no indication that she was even noticing Amire's presence at all.

"Zoey,"

"Ami thi-"

"No, Zoey!" Amire turned the other around to grab her by her shoulders. Zoey's body tensed. She never heard her raise her voice in the slightest, unless it was for excitement or anything good. Her voice then went lower. "All my life I wanted to go on an adventure, it seemed fun, but this... this is too much. I want you to find your mom, but I also want you to be safe." Right... we have to be safe. Zoey had almost forgotten herself. Since the beginning, she was always ready to find her mom no matter what. Finding her seemed like a normal kid thing to want to do. But now she was an adult, she had to focus on herself. Zoey nodded to Amire's words.

"You're right." looked at the house differently. At first it was the sign of an end. Now, she wasn't so sure. "I was so worried about her, I... don't even know what I'd do if she was just... gone." She felt the tense hand on her shoulders slowly slip their way into a hug.

"I know," For once since the Old Lady, there was a comfortable silence. "Do you want to turn around?"

"No..." The girl pulled her phone and pressed her flash button. "I just want to check, just to make sure she for sure is gone." This time Amire nodded in agreement.

"Okay let's go." Their voices can come to an end as they both walk through the unblocked doorway. The light was big, but wasn't enough to cover the entire room. Zoey moved the phone to make sure the carpets that were in her dream were still burnt like before. Yup, there they were, still glued to the hardwood floor. Other parts of the floor were just like before. Ripped out and placed into one ugly corner.

"Was everything in here the same too?" Zoey only nodded in response. If everything else came to pass then it wouldn't be long before.

Bang!

Bang!

Right on time. Zoey peeked down the hall to see the same closet, the one that held such a prominent place in her vision. The closet. There it stood, still at the end of the hallway, still placed with one knob gone. Okay, it's now or never. Still staying silent, Zoey grabbed Amire by the arm and led her into the kitchen. Where the hell is that knife? They both remained quiet as the girl looked through drawers to find some reminisce of a weapon.

"What are you looking for?" Amire whispered.

"Something to defend ourselves." Just then, the sound of drawn steel caused her to smile. "Finally." She looked towards the other. She can't see this, not now. "Amire, stay here and look for anyone else." She only received a nod as she made her way down the hall.

Bang!

Bang!

The sound persisted. Relax, there's nothing. The prophecy said so. Zoey hastily made her way down the hall. Her step sounds louder than ever before, some from stepping in tattered planks, some from stepping on bare floor. The ruined ceiling above her let the line shine through directly on the girl path.

"Okay," Zoey tried to calm herself as she wrapped her hands around the knob. "It's just like before." The girl took several deep breaths before yanking it open.

nothing.

Just then, the sound of glass shattering took her breath away. What did Amire do? The feeling of urgency rushed to her body as she darted to the kitchen.

"Drop the knife."
