9 Choosing another wind spell

"I see." August had a trace of disappointment on his but soon recovered to his normal, cool expression. He was aware of the fact that he was weak and as much as he hated that feeling it was the fact.

In this world, compared with the truly powerful sorcerers, he was even lesser than an ant!

Even with the help of Rhea, if he wanted to become the peerless figure he dreamed of, a lot depended on himself!

"I'm sorry. Rhea couldn't be of help to you this time, Master August", Rhea said sadly.

However August became even more determined. "Don't worry Rhea. I will definitely become the most powerful Sorcerer! I know can count on you Rhea."

Rhea was silent for a while before responding. "Thanks for believing in Rhea. Rhea will do her best to help, Master August"

In a dark room with windows that revealed the starry sky, what one could see was the silhouette of a young man lying on his bed and speaking to himself. What no one knew was that at this moment, he was developing a closer bond with an unknown entity that could prove to be his keystone to transcendence in the future!

The next day, August went to the library.

Before gaining access one had to exchange points for a certain amount of hours. An hour in the library was equivalent to 5 points and August paid for two hours.

The library looked like a typical college library and it had two sections; the general knowledge area and the sorcery knowledge area. There were some rank 0 sorcerers that were seen seated and copying down the information that could be found in the huge tomes on the shelves. August did not waste any time and went to the general knowledge area and picked up a tome: Principles of Sorcery Casting.

"Rhea, can you record the information?"

"Rhea can do it. Activating the recording function." August kept a blank expression on his face while casually flipping through the pages.

After three minutes Rhea's voice sounded. "Principles of Sorcery Casting has been recorded into Rhea's database." After hearing the notification, a subtle smirk appeared on August's face.

With this amazing feature, August would be able to save a lot of time in copying down sorcery knowledge compared to other sorcerers and left the recording and the analysis to Rhea with her superhuman computational ability.

He did read all kinds of information in the general knowledge area for the next hour before moving on to the Sorcery knowledge area. Before reading any of the tomes in this area, one needs to pay the equivalent points.

August looked at the wind sorceries which gave a basic introduction on its cover and the points needed to read them.

1. Wind sword sorcery (Apprentice): condenses the wind elemental energy is condensed into a sword. Requires 20 tower points

2. Wind blade sorcery (Apprentice): wind elemental energy is condensed into a crescent-shaped wind blade. Requires 20 points

3. Wind Palm (Apprentice): A single target sorcery that forms deals wind elemental damage when it comes into contact with an enemy. Requires 20 points

4. Float sorcery (intermediate): a sorcery that allows the caster to float up to a height of 15 meters. Lasts for five minutes. Requires 50 points

5. Wind spiral barrier sorcery (intermediate): the defensive spell that summons wind currents and forms a barrier of rotating wind around the caster. Requires 50 tower points.

6. Wind spear rain (intermediate): an AOE sorcery that launches wind spears for a duration of 5 seconds. Requires 50 points.

August paid no attention to the other rank 0 elite wind sorceries that were around as he could not use them until he reached the elite level and they also required a lot of tower points to read them.

Among the wind sorceries he managed to get his hands on, he filtered out the wind palm and wind sword sorcery, which were melee attacks.

August lacked the physical attributes of a typical body refinement type sorcerer and did not have too much confidence in that aspect at the moment. Based on his previous battle, he felt that he could become a good spell caster and rely on his ranged attracts to grind down the enemy.

Excluding the wind blade that he already had, he was left with the float, wind spiral barrier and the wind spear rain sorcery. One served as a support spell and the other two were a defensive and an offensive area-of-effect sorcery.

His original plan was to obtain a defensive and an AOE sorcery but the float sorcery also sounded interesting. Although it could only allow him to float he still felt that it could be useful in many situations and made up his mind to obtain it once we got more tower points.

He was left with two. 'Which one do I choose?' Both we equally useful to him at the moment though. However, with 80 tower points remaining, he would not be able to take both. "Master August, you should choose the wind spear rain sorcery." Rhea's voice sounded in his head.

"As you recognized earlier, the wind blade does considerable damage to a single target but doesn't affect a large area. If complemented with wind spear sorcery, then you should be able to become stronger in your offence, "she continued.

"Hmm...I see." August thought about it for a while and said "Let us go ahead with your suggestion, then. I'll add the wind spiral barrier next time. "He took the book and confirmed his exchange with the librarian.

The librarian was an alchemical creation that had a humanoid form which had a metal coating and was controlled by the tower spirit-which was the consciousness that controlled the tower and pretty much functioned like a virtual assistant to the Great Sorcerer Phelan. It performed many functions and protecting the tomes of sorceries in the library was among them.

After he left the library, he went to the trading area and purchased some low-grade rank 0 wind elemental cores with his tower points. A single low-grade core cost 2 tower points and a medium-grade rank 0 core was 10 tower points. A high-grade core was rarely sold in the trading area and could only be obtained through the completion of some dangerous missions.

August bought 3 medium-grade wind elemental cores and went back to his room. "Rhea, are you done recording the new sorcery?"

"Yes, Master August."

"How long will it take to optimize this spell?"

"Due to it being an Intermediate sorcery, it'll take 30 days," Rhea answered.

When August heard this he decided to in stay secluded in his room for a month without going out so that he could consolidate his gains and improve his power as quickly as possible.
