1 1. The Hike

I gasped, pushing myself as hard as I could. This part of the hike was the hardest, but if I could push through the last bit, I would beat my personal record of 3:27:03 for my marathons. As I ran across the bridge it started to drizzle. It was a relief, until I realized how slippery the path would be and how hard running would be. "No."I thought, " A little rain won't stop me, I WILL beat my time."

The rain got worse, I started to worry, slipping out in the middle of the mountains could mean death, especially if I hit my head. Suddenly a loud crash and whinny derailed my train of thought.

A horse!!?! In this weather? I ran towards the sound, hoping the animal would be okay.

heard another whinny, and I followed the direction of the sound. As I turned the corner, I slipped and I swear I hit my head, cause what I saw made no sense at all.

There was a unicorn, a real life unicorn. And it was dying. I don't know how I knew, but I knew that it wouldn't make it much longer.

I sat down hard and just stared. I hadn't even thought I would see a Unicorn since I was seven. Well, congrats seven year old me, you finally saw a unicorn.

I stood up and was about to start running home when there was a noise behind me. "You can't just leave me here." I spun around and stared at the animal.

"Did you just say something?"

The animal just stared at me with big pleading eyes, gasping for breath. It's heart stopped and as it died, it spoke to me, saying one word, "Run."
