Chapter 3 The red tomatoes

Wynne was surprised by him and instinctively stepped back, "the black worm, please respect me a little bit!"

"Eh? How dare you call me the black worm?" The man's voice was displeased.

Wynne shook in fear when she listened his full murderous tone,: "I...I heard my grandmother also called you so, Isn't BLACK WORM your name? !"

The man looked at her speechless, lazily lying back on the bed.

"Now that you are my new host, you should give me a new name. You look like a college student and should name me no worse." He said lazily, reclining on the bed with his eyes fixed on her.

"Call you Snaker?" Wynne just spoke it out as she remembered what it was.

A sardonic look from the bed came directly to her. "Why? it seemed to have satisfied you last night." The man asked her in a strange tone, curling a lock of black hair around his chest.

"What was it last night?" She was a little confused in a moment.

But then Wynne remembered his close contact with her last night, and her face turned red.

Seeing her to be ashamed, the man was shameless smiling at her.

"I'll allow you to call me that every night, if you want."

When Wynne thought that the man was a spirit of snake, and that last night was not a dream, she was just hardly to accept it.

Looking at her speechless expression, the man rolled over on the bed; "My real name is Dooley Mayfair, and I love cool and dark places. My food is the spirits and human blood. If you raise me well, i will let you get what you want, but --"

"But what?" Asked Wynne.

"But once you do something wrong to me, I will let you die worse than the others!" With that, the man disappeared on the bed as quickly as if he had never been.

Wynne touched her abdomen, where the snake was swimming up and down.

She sighed and laid on the bed. Was she really going to be a witch like her grandmother?

The next morning, she got up early and briefly observed the route to the town Horsy.

In order to avoid her parents being implicated, she didn't tell them that she was going to handle the spirit of reptile. Instead, she told them she was meeting friends.

She drove her old rental car smoothly all the way to the clinic in Horsy Town.

In the hot summer, it had no air conditioning, only in the clinic hall two old big fans in the whirl.

The hall was deserted except for a middle-aged woman in a white nurse dress with a dirty nurse's cap at one side, sitting in front of an electric fan and clipping her nails. She looked up and asked when Wynne came in, "What's up? the doctor asked for leave recently."

Damn, the doctor in this hospital was so casual, it's a good thing she was not here to see a doctor.

"I'm looking for someone." Wynne quickly answered the woman.

"For whom?"

"I want to find a man who is covered with pimples. He came here." To make the woman believe her, Wynne added; "the man is related to my family."

"No." The woman answered unconcernedly and continued to cut her nails.

"No? Could it be that he came when you were off?" Wynne did not give up and asked again.

"How impossible! I have been working here for years, I guard the gate every day! No means no." The woman was a little upset at Wynne's suspicion as her voice rose.

Why Dooley was so sure about that last night? Dooley was lying to her last night, wasn't he? Wynne was lost and uneasy for a moment as the woman was poking into her nail hard with a sterilized needle and bleeding which she didn't notice.

"Doesn't it hurt, sis?" Wynne asked the woman.

"It hurts, but I can't help it. It itchs badly. It's like a lot of invisible bugs biting my fingers, it doesn't work even after taking medicine." The woman jabbed her finger more and more violently as she answered casually.

"Ask her if she's been swallowing anything wild lately" Wynne was almost startled by the sound of Dooley's voice burst in her head. She still couldn't get used to the sound coming out of nowhere.

"Did you eat some wild fruit?" Wynne asked, as Dooley instructed.

"Some fresh tomatoes growing in the backyard. Is that a problem?" Asked the woman, looked up and tilted her head in the direction of the backdoor.

Wynne saw through the open backdoor a few red tomatos, which was fresh, clean and mouthwatering, which made people want to swallow at a glance.

The red tomatoes before her eyes seemed magical, and their moist, juicy nature made her thirsty. She swallowed a few times and walked slowly toward the backyard...
