Audiobook version: https://www.youtube.com/@FearTcb Discord: https://discord.gg/CgKTK7eFjn Kaizen, a master assassin, finds himself reborn into the Hidden Leaf Village as a four-year-old orphan. His last memories are of a failed mission, but now, he awakens in the Naruto World. With the skills and discipline from his previous life still sharp in his mind, Kaizen must navigate this new existence. Kaizen will be the same age as Kakashi and will have water as his main nature affinity, as hinted in the title. Kaizen will be immensely talented, but he will not have any special bloodlines or kekkei genkai that he is born with. This fanfic is as much an experiment as it is something I've wanted to see written. If anyone has tips or things they would like to see in the novel, feel free to comment and let me know! - FearTcb

Invitation From a Legend

By the time Kaizen finished eating, he could feel the familiar surge of warmth spread through his core, signaling the gradual replenishment of his chakra reserves. He closed his eyes briefly, beginning to recover as he channeled chakra throughout his body.

With each controlled breath, he directed the chakra to his fatigued limbs, imagining it as a soothing river flowing through his veins. The heaviness in his muscles slowly dissipated, leaving behind a refreshing sensation akin to cool water on a hot day. The fatigue eased, replaced by a renewed vigor that brought a slight smile to his lips.

Kaizen opened his eyes, the weariness in his limbs now a distant memory. The room felt slightly cooler, the air crisper, and his senses sharper. The simple act of circulating chakra brought with it a sense of clarity and readiness. He took a moment to appreciate the stillness around him, the gentle rustle of leaves outside the window, and the faint scent of his meal lingering in the air.

Finished with his meal, Kaizen then returned to his dorm room, the familiar surroundings providing a comforting backdrop to his thoughts. He sat cross-legged on the floor and closed his eyes to begin his meditation.

As he delved deeper into his meditation, he felt the residual chakra reserves within him pulse gently, a reminder of the power he aimed to harness and control.

As his meditation session came to an end, Kaizen's mind shifted to the future. He mentally outlined his goals for the coming days, focusing on refining his chakra control and physical techniques. The clarity he gained from this practice fueled his resolve.

Kaizen lay down on his bed, the cool sheets against his skin and the soft hum of nighttime activity outside helped him relax. His eyes closed, and he allowed himself to drift into sleep, focusing his thoughts on his chakra and tenketsu points. Soon, the border between wakefulness and dreams blurred, and he found himself in his lucid dream.

In this dreamscape, he began to visualize his tenketsu points, the vital chakra nodes within his body. With each passing moment, the points became clearer, furthering his progress in identifying them.

After spending sometime identifying tenketsu points, Kaizen decided to put his chakra enhanced physique to the test. He conjured opponents, faceless figures that moved with the speed and skill of seasoned fighters.

The first few clashes with his chakra enhanced muscles were awkward. His new strength and speed made his movements jerky and uncoordinated, his punches landing too hard or missing their mark entirely. Shuriken and kunai, which once flew true, now veered off course. Frustration built at first, but Kaizen pushed through, remaining patient as to master this new level of power.

Gradually, he began to adjust. Although his movements would need more work, the faceless opponents were able to be defeated one by one. He willed his body to move as one with his chakra, the dream becoming a perfect training ground.

As the dream progressed, Kaizen encountered more challenges with adjusting to his enhanced speed and strength. When performing more advanced movements, each step he took was slightly off-balance, his muscles propelling him forward with more force than intended. His more technical strikes, while powerful, lacked the finesse they once had, making his abilities appear rough and unpolished.

In one sequence, he attempted a rapid combination of punches and kicks, but the enhancements threw off his timing. His fists often glancing off their targets rather than striking true. Kaizen channeled the failures into determination, knowing that mastery comes with practice.

'I was relatively successful during my evening practice in the training field. The amount of chakra I was using is much lower than now, so I suppose it should be expected that my movements will be much more difficult to control. Not to mention, I wasn't practicing anything beyond basics in the field. I should take things slowly rather than try to rush progress.'

Kaizen took a deep breath, steadying his mind. He slowed his movements, focusing on control rather than power. The next set of strikes was more measured, each punch and kick delivered with intent and precision. His throws became more accurate, the shuriken and kunai finding their targets with increasing frequency.

More faceless opponents appeared to further challenge him, but Kaizen adapted, his body and chakra beginning to work in harmony. The initial clumsiness faded, replaced by a growing confidence in his abilities. He knew there was still much to learn, but he knew that he was on the right track.

He visualized his chakra flowing smoothly through his body, enhancing his muscles without overwhelming them. This mental imagery translated into physical improvement, and soon his enhanced abilities felt natural.

After successes and failures, Kaizen was now able to utilize more chakra than he did at the training field while also performing his various techniques with the same level of skill he came to expect from himself.

After plenty of practice and sparring, Kaizen decided to push his limits further. He conjured even more opponents, increasing their number and skill level. The battlefield soon became a whirlwind of action, but Kaizen remained focused. He moved through his adversaries with a blend of agility and strength, his techniques now sharp and refined.

His shuriken and kunai throwing also showed significant improvement. Kaizen's hands moved in a blur, the projectiles launching with deadly accuracy. The satisfaction of seeing his adjustments pay off brought a familiar sense of accomplishment.

In the midst of battle, Kaizen felt a deepening sense of control over his body and chakra. The dream, initially chaotic and challenging, had become a perfect testing ground to further his growth.

Eventually, as the dream began to fade, Kaizen took a moment to absorb the experience. The knowledge and skills he had gained would serve him well in the waking world.

Kaizen woke up feeling refreshed and invigorated, the lingering effects of his dream training still resonating within him. The morning light filtered softly through the window. He stretched, feeling the renewed strength in his muscles and the steadiness in his chakra flow.

Rising from his bed, Kaizen began his morning workout routine. Next, he moved to meditation, sitting cross-legged on the floor. The room was quiet, save for the faint sounds of the village awakening outside. Kaizen closed his eyes, focusing on his breathing and the flow of chakra within him.

He visualized his tenketsu points, testing the progress made in his dream. Although the exact locations weren't the same as his dream world, his practice allowed him to locate more tenketsu points at a much faster speed than the previous day. In 30 minutes of time, he was able to increase his mentally mapped tenketsu points from 50 to 100.

Happy with the progress, Kaizen took a shower and headed to the cafeteria for breakfast. The air was filled with the pleasant aroma of freshly cooked rice and grilled fish. He joined the line, greeting his peers with a friendly nod. The warm food was a welcome start to the day, each bite providing nourishment and energy. As he ate, Kaizen mentally reviewed his plans for the day, focusing on the goals he aimed to achieve.

Feeling prepared and focused, Kaizen finished his meal and headed out, ready to face the day's training and lessons at the academy.

The first class of the day focused on chakra. Hiroshi Sensei gave an in-depth academic lesson to establish foundational knowledge as well as relate the concepts to the chakra control exercise from the other day. He continued with other academic lessons necessary for a shinobi to master.

The afternoon was dedicated to physical training. The students moved to the outdoor training grounds, where they ran through a series of agility drills and sparring sessions. Kaizen paired up with different classmates, each match providing them insight into their strengths and weaknesses. The matches required little to no effort for him, but he maintained a humble demeanor, offering tips and encouragement to his peers.

When the academic side to the day's training was complete, Kaizen headed back to one of the training grounds, his mind focused on implementing the progress from the dream into the real world. To his excitement, the implementations were even faster than the mental mapping of his tenketsu points. Although there were still adjustments he made, the amount of time he needed to do so was significantly reduced.

He continued to practice his skills as well as train his body, trying to build it to an acceptable level for his age. Kaizen's short term goal was to build a solid foundation with his physique and chakra control before moving further with other concepts.

And so, the days of the first class week passed in a steady rhythm of training and learning, each one bringing Kaizen an increase in progress. He attended classes diligently, absorbing every bit of knowledge and instruction from Hiroshi Sensei. His evenings were spent in rigorous personal training, where he revisited the techniques in his lucid dreams and integrated the concepts he learned from his rented books.

Saturday arrived in a flash, marking the end of a demanding week. The atmosphere in the academy was lighter, the students relieved at the prospect of a day off. During the final class of the day, the instructor confirmed that they had Sundays off as part of the school schedule, a welcome respite to many from the rigorous training. However, Hiroshi reminded them that there would be a weekly quiz on Monday, emphasizing the need to study and review their lessons.

Kaizen made a mental note to review the material for the quiz. Although he already knew the material relating to most of the topics covered, there were still some aspects such as history that brought new information for him to understand.

As the class dispersed, there was a palpable sense of excitement among the students, each planning how they would spend their day off.

Before exiting the class, Kakashi approached Kaizen with an unusual brightness in his usually stoic eyes.

"Hey, Kaizen," Kakashi said, "My father wants to know if you'd like to visit our house tomorrow. We could train and spar a bit."

Kaizen's eyes lit up at the invitation. "That sounds great," he replied, feeling a mix of anticipation and curiosity. The prospect of potentially learning from the legendary Sakumo Hatake was fascinating. Kaizen wondered if Sakumo had taken an interest in his taijutsu after hearing about Kakashi's recent losses against him.

They agreed to meet at the academy in the morning. Kaizen then headed back to his dorm, his mind already planning for the training session. He spent the evening reviewing his notes for the upcoming quiz and then continued to mentally map out how he wanted to approach the opportunity tomorrow.

If he could somehow convince Sakumo to train him, his strength would see massive leaps in a short amount of time. Not to mention the level of future contacts he would have through association with such a powerful shinobi.

Happy Father's Day!
