Chapter 24. The Day Before The Date Line

A week had passed, and on a bright morning, like any other, King Clover announced something out of the ordinary at the breakfast table after they had all finished eating.

"In two days' time, we will be hosting an engagement party for Prince Lysander and Lysandra Heartwood. Thanks to someone so selfish, it's now his younger brother who is taking on this duty."

King Clover's remark was met with nonchalant shrugs from Prince Lucius, who averted his gaze. Prince Lysander only offered a thin smile, while Queen Clover sighed and shook her head, appearing tired of her husband's immature behavior.

"Of course, this party will be graced by representatives from allied neighboring kingdoms and esteemed noble guests. I trust both of you will comport yourselves fittingly as befits a prince," King Clover added, nodding his head.

"Of course, Father!" Prince Lucius responded in harmony with Prince Lysander. The disconnect between them was evident in their expressions. Prince Lucius seemed indifferent, while Prince Lysander smiled widely with feigned enthusiasm.

Although, deep down, Prince Lysander was not as excited; he felt rather nonchalant. Nonetheless, he had to uphold this facade to please and excite both of his parents.

But meeting representatives from other kingdoms? I hope nothing untoward will happen in two days...

Following the concise instructions from his father regarding the party, Rina escorted Prince Lysander to meet a palace tailor specializing in creating clothing for the entire royal family at each special occasion. His father had already advised that his measurements would be taken, and several design options for the attire he desired to wear would be presented to Prince Lysander.

Upon stepping into a room adorned with jewelry and filled with an array of garments in a dazzling array of colors and sizes, Prince Lysander came face to face with a middle-aged woman exuding an air of sternness as she scrutinized him with a knitted brow, despite his undeniable royal status.

As time ticked by, each piece of Prince Lysander's clothing was expertly removed without regard for any potential embarrassment he might feel. It appeared that within the royal family, this treatment was customary, causing no shame as tailors were regarded on par with common servants. Therefore, the nobles and higher-ranking royal members saw no reason for embarrassment, even without a single garment adorning their person.

The tailor silently measured Prince Lysander's body, muttering to herself and jotting down numbers on a piece of paper. After the measurements were complete, Prince Lysander was asked to put his clothes back on while the tailor quickly sketched on the paper.

Once Prince Lysander was dressed, five drawings were already laid out on the table nearby. These designs represented various clothing styles symbolizing the Clover royal family, including the outfit Prince Lysander would wear as the groom-to-be. His father had mentioned that Lysandra's attire would be made to complement the design chosen by Prince Lysander and would be sent to their residence in Heartwood.

Although Prince Lysander was slightly disappointed because Lysandra did not get the chance to help choose, Prince Lysander thought he would select a design that would be well-suited for Lysandra's appearance.

As he pictured Lysandra's figure, Prince Lysander carefully examined the five clothing design drawings intended for his engagement party as the second prince of the Clover royal family. He would be accompanied by a stunning girl, the only daughter of a noble Duke, with fair skin, bright blonde hair, and beautiful sky-blue eyes.
