1 Chained

In a cold dark room inside of a dungeon belonging to a particularly influential nobleman, laid on the floor a thin and pale looking individual. His hair was disheveled and their body covered in bruises and welts. The man gradually opened his eyes and sat up with a dazed expression.

"Where am I...?"

The man had an incredibly challenging time speaking, as though his throat was unbearably dry from not drinking any sort of water.

"So thirsty..."

The man looked around the room he was in and discovered that he was in an unfamiliar location completely foreign to him.

"What happened...? Last I was... Ugh!" the man held his head in aching pain as he tried to remember the last thing that happened to him. The final thing he remembered was being on the way to meet a client, but he was robbed and shot at gunpoint before arriving. He had died.

"How can I be alive?" the man stared down at his hands and what he saw shocked him. There were chains that bound his hands and feet together in an inhumane manner. It appeared as though he was a prisoner from one of those medieval movies!

There was a small puddle on the ground of the dungeon that formed below the barred window style opening. It was most likely formed from some rain finding its way in. When the man noticed the puddle, he slowly crawled over to try and drink from it. Even though he knew he may get sick from doing so, he was much too thirsty to worry about a bit of dirty water at the moment. But when he got to the small puddle of water, he saw a strange reflection in the water. His face did not resemble him at all!

The man bound by the chains name was Linkin. After dying, he reincarnated into the body of some unknown person. Linkin was startled by his own appearance because it wasn't him! His heartbeat accelerated as his thoughts were all in a jumble. "Calm down... Calm down...!" Linkin began to calm himself down and ease his breathing. Who wouldn't be utterly shocked from waking up in a body that did not belong to them?

Linkin gazed up towards the barred window and could just hardly see the sky... It had three moons! "I must really be out of it..." Linkin thought to as he let out a long sigh trying to regain himself.

Not too long after, he heard footsteps approaching closer and closer to his location. The footsteps halted right in front of the door to his prison and the sound of a key sliding into a lock sounded off.

A man dressed in a military-style armor set with a spear in his hand walked over to Linkin and grabbed him by his chains, dragging him along. "Be grateful slave! Our noble lady is merciful and ordered for your death to be quick and painless. If it were up to my lord, you would not be let off so easily and tortured until you lost your mind, hmph!"

Linkin was startled, he was trying to realize what exactly was going on. Slave? Quick and painless death? Didn't he already die? How could he possibly die again?

The guard proceeded in dragging Linkin all the way to another room. It was the room belonging to the executioner. The guard banged on the door before it was unlocked shortly after. As the door opened, a person with a strange mask spoke, "Another one so soon?"

"It's the orders of our noble lady. Make it quick and painless" the guard hauled Linkin forward and kicked him into the room before turning around to leave.

The person with a strange mask on shook their head and closed the door after the guard disappeared. Now in the room was just him and Linkin.

Linkin managed to regain a calm state of mind. Even though he was shocked and had no clue as to what was going on, he knew that if he did not stay cool in an unknown and dangerous situation, his life could quickly come to an end!

"I still haven't fully understood anything but for now... I must survive!" Linkin had a calculative look in his eyes. He already begun planning his next move!
